Touché. And some people have money to burn. I rock CICO every day all day, but I'm totally down to spend some cash to try a new program that keeps me moving, and keeps me motivated. To each his own. Has anyone else noticed that MFP forms are extremely judgmental? Can we go back to the adage if you don't have anything nice…

The 21 day fix is not mutually exclusive with CICO.

I figure people will either revert or keep up their new habits. Everyone has a choice to make regardless of what path they follow. :p I am interested to see what results I can achieve if I put the pedal to the metal. I'm training for a half marathon too (my third), so this ought to be interesting!

I don't plan to use the Tupperware in the kit. I am already happy with my meal planning and dietary choices. I do plan to use the videos and the shakeology for breakfast when I'm on the go. If it weren't shakeology it would be a protein shake or other comparable thing. I don't skip lunch or dinner...but with the kiddos a…

Im starting August 31st too!

I'm planning it. My shipment is in the mail. I need to add variety to my workouts bad. I own and elliptical and a treadmill and I road run, but my lifestyle prohibits me from getting outside daily so I get stuck on my machines. These videos will help hopefully.

From everything I've read I don't think splitting it up lessens the cardiovascular impact or the calorie burn. I often split mine with weight training. My attention span is only so strong so this keeps my head in the game.

I love my new scale! I'm thinking I bought one of the more expensive ones that Walmart had...it was $19. But it seems to have all the functionality that you all find useful. Thanks for all your tips!

Hey! I'm training for a half marathon now...my third but I was injured this spring and am only now getting my running legs back. I am new to the forums so I'm looking for new friends and support folk.

I would also suggest seeing a cardiologist. My mother had tachycardia, but she was older and needed a defibrillator to keep her heart in chexk. Her condition was seriously compromised however as she had had open heart surgery some years before and had congestive heart failure. I know you're wanting to be more active but…

I weigh myself daily before consumption in the mornings. I personally like to track my weight in comparison to what I eat. I like data ;) I don't really put a lot of stock in my specific weights from day to day however since there are a lot of variables like fluid retention, etc. But I think it gives me insight as it helps…

I was responding to the tenor of everyone else, however, if I offended or insulted, I do apologize. I will make effort to work on my delivery. With that said, I'm done with the discussion. Have a great Sunday!

She should surely consult a medical professional. That's the recommendation whenever a person would like to lose weight. While nursing your body needs specific nourishment, however the fat stores on the body (if you're in the normal body fat percentage), makes losing weight while nursing safe in most cases. But yes, of…

What most people are taught about weight loss and weight gain is only the tip of the iceberg. There are many other layers. Not sure if this particular case fits you, but at least you have more info now. I think that will slowly back away from the conversation now. It's been real folks. Believe what you will. No skin off my…

I am currently doing cardio 5-6 days per week with strength sets incorporated in 3-4 days per week. I also am a runner and am routinely training for a race of some sort. I've complete a few half marathons and several other long run races from 6-10 miles each. I love cardio but gaining muscle is important too. I also have…

Okay fine. Facts aren't facts until you back them up, right? I didn't provide the references because most people don't really understand the language in these journals; but since you asked I have listed several citations. You have now been given the additional knowledge, now it's up to you to interpret and apply. And I…

And I had oversupply and stored quite a bit of milk for when I went back to work. My son was my second child that I successfully worked this plan with. You definitely can safely have a good caloric deficit while nursing.
-
I successfully lost all my baby weight and then some while nursing. I cut back to approx 1700-1800 calories a day (I weighed 175 and was 5'5" at around 5 weeks post partum) and exercised 5 days a week with both cardio and strength. I ate to nourish my body and let my milk production caloric needs come from my body fat. The…

Um, yes, organic chemistry is actually the basis of biology. Without organic chemistry there is no understanding of biochemical structure and/or mechanisms. And let's not forget that nothing about a human being is absolute...I started my responses with the disclaimer that every body is different. Starvation mode is a real…

This is very inaccurate and unfortunately you don't seem like you're open to science that isn't one size fits all. Calories in/Calories out is a general rule that works 99.5% of the time, but don't forget our bodies are not robotic and they have mechanisms which protect us if we teeter of balance. I've advised several…

I disagree with some of the advice here. I've been successful losing 15-20 lbs in about 10 weeks total with 5-6 days a week cardio/strength and a healthy diet within a specific calorie range of 1400-1600 cals per day. I can also easily maintain it long term keeping up the fitness part of it and eating in moderation. Most…

Headed out to Wally World right now to get my scale. Amped about what this means for my diet!
-
That's a good tip! I am really bad about using 800 utensils to get a simple job done so I will remember this little trick! And, I really can't wait to be able to accurately eye food portions so I can leave some calories on the plate.
-
With exercise I use a garmin watch that monitors heart rate coupled with my body stats. I'd say that it's fairly accurate as compared to my polar watch. My deficits are about 500 cals per day (on a good day). Today was a bad day however...no deficit in sight.
-
Okay I can ascribe to that. I do exercise as well since I'm looking for larger deficits. My diet has been all over the place lately, with me trying to outrun my fork. Not happening. The scale ought to help me. If I can learn over time what specific weights of certain food looks like, then when I eat out I can keep better…

Okay so my question about this is, if the servings on the package are inaccurate, then how much stock can we put in the calories per unit? Like, how can you even trust that 1 serving of 56 grams is actually 190 calories? How do we know that it's not 190 calories per 45 grams? It seems like a crap shoot in some ways.

I'm totally picking up a scale when I'm out this weekend. I'm interested to see how off my typical food choices are. Lately we've been eating a lot more whole foods but some stuff is still packaged. One of these days I'll jump ship all the way to no processed foods. Until then, I think having a scale will take out some of…

What you did was essentially solve for density. Density is mass per unit volume.
-
Omg you guys rock! Great advice! I use scales regularly in my work (I'm a chemist), so I know how to tare and do conversions easily. When weighing liquids you have to take into account density. Most liquids do not align with water whose density is 1g/ml. With density you can convert mass to volume, however, since most ppl…

If you're running long distance then you're going to have to eat during the run so there are calories to use. I don't know very many runners (myself included) who do long runs (13+ miles) and don't ingest some kind of carbohydrate as fuel. But to try to answer your question, when I first started running, my calves actually…
