We usually have two methods. If it is something like a soup we will weight it out after it is done and do servings as per ounce. If it is something like a baked dish we will do servings as the number of portions it is cut into, this isn't as accurate but as long as you measured what went into the dish accurately the end…

I love pick thing up and putting them down again (weight lifting) but not so hot on cardio or so I thought. I started training for a half marathon and found out I enjoy trial running a little more and then I found out I also enjoy distance running, 50km later I like picking things up and putting them down again and running…

The hardest habit for me to learn and the one that probably helped me the most was learning to throw out the leftovers on my kid's plates. It was tough at first because it was perfectly good food even if it was a little nibbled on. To start out I just tried logging it in on top of what I ate as best as I could (I'm really…

For me it has been about the same. I'm pretty open and friendly to begin with though so that might be part of it. Still haven't had anyone buy me a drink in the bar but nor have I have anyone be overly rude (beyond normal everyday people things)

I drink a lot of water and I'm pretty good at sweating so I don't track/worry about it. I just usually go by taste. If things start tasting salty I've had enough, if I'm craving salt (it tends to have a sweeter taste) then I need a bit more. Not something I really worry about though.

Just have fun with them, they aren't that bad. Like all races try not to get too caught up at the starting line and go out too hot. Race at your own pace. If you can con some friends into doing the races with you that is always fun if not just jump in with random people along the trail, the people are great and company…

I haven't seen Greek yogurt mentioned yet. Full fat or low fat it is a good additional protein source for sure.

My wife and I have a lot of homemade dishes in on database and at first it was very annoying to plug everything in but after while we started catching up to our regulars so it became a minor tweak here and there with a full input ever so often. I would recommend setting everything up as a recipe because it is easier to see…

With the first kid my wife gained 30lbs (only 10 remained post birth) but I gained 40lbs and I didn't have a baby to blame it on. Did much better on the second kid. My wife gained the 30 again but I managed to keep my weight under check and managed to keep my weight gain to 5lbs. I blame it on all those extra calories from…

@PastorVincent while I'm pretty sure I could hold a 9 min/mile there is no way I'm going anywhere near that cold region of the country that you call home, I'll stick with my 70 degree "winter" bit if you are ever in the area we can go for a run
-
@PastorVincent if you need a human metronome for a running partner let me know cause apparently I have that ability. I don't go very fast but I have done a 17 mile run at a 9:30 pace +/- 5 secs without anything more than glancing at my watch ever so often. I had longer runs coming up but then I broke

My diary is always open with lots of homemade recipes in there. If you want the recipe feel free to ask (don't worry most are made by my wife who is an excellent cook)

@MNLittleFinn @JessicaMcB If yall are seriously considering the CDR I might be interested. I could do the "hot" portion (although I would probably still need a jacket). I still need to let a few things settle on the job front to see where I'll be but I'll be training for another 50k in November so a leg in the CDR would be…

Best tip I can give is be patient with the food logging the first few weeks. As you get things figured out/get your usual foods plugged in/recipes built logging gets much easier. Also food scale if you haven't already, weigh everything. It takes all the guess work out of the game and while it may seem like a pain at first…

Got the boot off yesterday so I'm going to update my goal to 30 miles this month. If I don't make it no big deal but that will keep things nice and easy for me.
-
I'm going to put: "Get out of this stupid boot and get in a run" as my goal. It is going to be a slow month and I don't want to rush anything.

Apple Cider Vinegar, as stated above it has sparkles, magic, fairy dust, and fat burning power. Most people agree it can make a salad dressing, some think it gives you super powers.

The metric for lifting would be extremely hard to calculate since so many variables can go into it. Honestly your best bet for calorie burn during lifting is wearing a heart rate monitor (watch or chest strap) and going with that.

Thank you everyone for the well wishes. @MobyCarp I'm going to have to remember the parking line, that is a perfect "Dad joke" that will go great with my personality. @fitoverfortymom it never crossed my mind but yes I am very grateful of being able to wear short in December, I would hate to have to do this on ice.

My running season is officially over and it looks like my 50k run will not happen. The tail end of January is just a little too close to recover from 4 weeks off. Went to the orthopedist and they looked at my x-rays and said my foot wasn't healing, it was breaking so yay for stress fracture. The rock I caught in the side…

@PastorVincent I use the one80 light and it does really well. Lots of general lighting and 360 lumens isn't too bad. Plus they are pretty cheap which is always nice.

@JessicaMcB let me know when you do Pigtails and I can help crew/pace there, my wife has tons of family in WA and would love the excuse to head up there. Also if you ever do Leadville let me know cause my company owns the mine out there and I'll just find some excuse to get a free trip up there :)
-
The training plan says 189 miles and I would like to get this but...foot health comes first so we will see what happens there. For now I will say 189 miles and not break (more?).

@Elise4270 of course I'd consult all the crazy people to make myself feel less crazy  Thank you for all the advise everyone. While I don't have a bike or pool I do have a rower so I might just grin and bear it on that thing for some time. The x-rays are showing some damage but it has heal so I think I put off going…

So I think I have my first real running injury in a long time. I've been having some issues with my right foot for a couple weeks. More specifically my big toe back where it connects to the heel. I thought I just sprained or bruised the muscle/tendon because I do a lot of trail running out here and we have a lot of rocks…

Out for a week and I'm 22 pages behind..man yall guys have been having fun on here. Had fun in Chile even though it was basically all business. I wasn't able to run in the desert this time due to work but work was at 12,400' so that made things challenging enough. Luckily the town we stayed in was only 7500' so I did all…

While I'm not divorced, the depression is seasonal, and the over eating has been curbed (well more I just run far enough now that it isn't a problem most days) I can help motivate and cheer you on. I can also help with any questions you might have (or point you towards someone who can) and share recipes (lots of good…

Last minute work trip to Chile, not too disappointed about this but now I've got to wake up @JessicaMcB early to get my run in before I broad planes for the next 24 hours. It will make for some fun impromptu elevation training though (I'll be going from 4200' to 12500') so I'm hoping that doesn't kill me. If my…

Low 50s at night, we usually end up having to do the heater at night and either open the house in the morning or run the AC in the day. I'll personally start wearing a jacket around 60 degrees though but I'm part lizard so I really don't like the cold. I'll go for a 10 mile run in 110 degrees and not be too bothered but 50…

Geez I show up on November 2nd and I'm 9 pages late. I'm in for 155.5 miles this month. I already missed three miles so the challenge will be fitting them in somewhere to make them up. With all this talk of cold weather I would just like to add we cooled off to the 80s for a high this week. Hopefully it won't get too much…
