  • I have been flirting with intermittent fasting and I must say I like how I feel. I was NEVER EVER a breakfast gal but was forcing myself to eat something because I kept hearing how important it was to eat breakfast. So I was basically forcing myself to eat 300 calories I didn't enjoy. Recently I have been eating between…
  • So in my community I find the low carb wraps with the tortillas in just about any grocery store. They are actually tortillas but can be used just like a wrap. They are huge and filled with fiber and only 6 grams net carbs. So perfect for low carb diets if you are craving a sandwich. Or perfect for eggs and salsa. They are…
  • For me the sugar alcohols in these bars upset my stomach. Try low carb wraps. They have 6 grams net carbs and 14 grams fiber. I buy the brand Mission but lots of options for low carb high fiber wraps. To me they are a lifesafer. A full size wrap is about 70 calories with 6 grams net carbs and 14 grams fiber.
  • I totally agree with the calorie deficit to lose weight. However, I do find for myself the lower carb foods keep me fuller and satified longer. For instance, if I eat eggs and cottage cheese for breakfast (about 350 calories) I stay fuller much longer than if I eat a bowl of cereal and a piece of toast for approximately…
  • Taco salad made with black beans for protein instead of meat. You can have a huge portion for 400 calories. Heaping pile of lettuce, tomatoes, green onion, cilantro and black olives as a base. All for about 25-50 calories. Sprinkle on shredded cheddar. Shredded goes a long way. About 1 1/2" ounce for 150 calories. Sprinkle…
  • "Potatoes vs wine" made me chuckle. Oh my my....how many times I don't plan ahead and I am faced with the same type of dilemma. Mine is usually pasta or wine. I found shiritaki noodles which helped solve my dilemma! They are not for everyone and I don't eat them all the time but if I want wine and didn't plan ahead,…
  • I agree with pre-logging and then sort of working backwards if that makes sense?? If I know I am going to have 2-3 glasses of wine which is about 400 or so calories depending on what type of wine you drink then I have to either burn off extra calories or lighten up on snacks or meal choices during the day. I like…
  • Has anyone tried any of the Beyond Meat products? It is plant based pea protein with 20 grams of protein per serving. And the best meat substitute I have ever had. They have "chicken and beef". It is not soy but plant protein. It is fairly new but getting more popular. If you go to their website you can see what stores in…
  • Try incorporating more protein and healthy fat into your snacking. It really helped get my hunger under control. My favorites are chopped boiled eggs with a slice or two or avocado on top or string cheese with a few kalmata olives. Easy to grab. While fruit and crackers are not bad food choices...they both make me…

  • Try strawberries, shredded basil, balsamic vinegar, drizzle of olive oil, lots of cracked black pepper and a sprinkle of feta or goat cheese. Delicious, nutritious, healthy and a great spring/summer dish
