With that list of allergies, you might want to include “AIP” on your Google search for recipes. It stands for Autoimmune protocol, an elimination diet that includes those items plus a few more. You might not find exactly what you’re looking for, but you might come close. The Phoenix Helix is one of my favorite AIP recipe…

Keep the big picture in mind. How long do you plan on keeping off the weight you lose? A plateau is simply practice for that. It’s maintenance. Practice for maintenance. Nothing to be upset about. Roll with it and keep going. If you’re going to keep the weight off for a lifetime, a few weeks or even a few months of a…

You’re not back to your highest weight, so some of your habit changes stuck. Take some time to think about what worked for you and write that down. Think about what else worked for you that you liked, and that you’d be willing to pick up again. Since you’re posting on MFP, I’m guessing you logged your food to some extent.…

The only key for weight loss is a calorie deficit. How one accomplishes that is individual.

FYI, you can change the names of the meals in MFP to suit you. So, if breakfast, lunch, dinner etc don’t work for your routine or mindset, you can change it to how you think of your meals, or to time blocks like “midnight to 3am”

Only some restaurant info is in the database, mainly larger chains. You find it by searching for the name of the restaurant and/or the item you want to find. Some major chains have some of their main menu items available as a sub-menu within the database. Others have been added by other members and you might want to check…

@jmf552, you’ve got this. And, you can eat that. Just go ahead and plan it into your day first, then plan the rest of your day around it. (Do you know the story of putting the big rocks into the jar first, then the pebbles, then the little grains of sand? Kind of like that— put the things you want to eat and are going to…

Make it easier. Set your plan for your hardest days, not for when you’re doing your best. Make it bomb-proof. I live with a chronic illness that sends me curveballs on the regular. So, my weightloss has been a long path and I go into maintenance regularly when SHTF. I have my habits stratified into three levels. “Basic”,…

I don’t know how to fix this glitch, but when it’s happening, go back and check the past several days. It might have added it to prior days.

Hi Christine, welcome, I’m Cheesy. Can you walk us through what you were trying to log? Was it something you were trying to scan in, or something you were trying to find by typing it into the database and search? Are you on the android or iOS app? The screens might look a little different. I can post screenshots from the…

My favorite instapot recipe blog is twosleevers.com. She has dishes from around the world, but made them easy while keeping the flavors. Most are keto or low carb. My favorites are her French Garlic Chicken and the Butter Chicken, I really like the Josh Rogan lamb/ beef too. Regardless of where you get the recipe, I prep…

Ps- the cravings occurring and your actions in response are two different scenarios. What you do to set yourself up to reduce cravings is one set of actions you can control. What you do in response to cravings is a different set of actions, which you can also control. It takes a different set of skills than the first set.…

When dealing with a lot of cravings, I make sure I’m getting enough protein, eating meals on time, and plan for some reasonable snacks so I’m getting planned protein every 3-4 hours (that’s what’s worked best for me, YMMV). To keep cravings at bay overall, I plan for the foods I like, make sure I’m not restricting any…

Well, when learning to season food, you probably want to taste food. Also learn to check your other senses, smell, look, etc. Good job realizing it’s been a downfall and looking to learn a new habit! Maybe keeping a baby spoon for cooking, so tastes are kept tiny. And, you could keep a small container nearby that you’ve…

I had to reconnect to Fitbit from MFP today and it seems to be working again
-
No, you don’t need to buy a premium membership to link to Fitbit. But sometimes there are glitches that happen and affect the connections, regardless of membership type. Go to the “apps” section of MFP and choose Fitbit. It will have you log into your account and you’ll have to give permission to share all requested data…

There are glitches from time to time, sometimes you have to reconnect the app.

You can also go to “Diary Settings” under settings and toggle it on as a default there.

Off topic, but are you/ they sure it’s not a herniated disc this go-round? The pain is similar to sciatica and can cause spasms like piriformis pain, and can get worse with sitting and forward bending. Just checking in, because it’s your familiar pain, except… it isn’t this time… I was fooled in a similar situation once.…

Stay the course. You know what works for you to lose weight. There’s a great post out there somewhere in the MFP forums titled something to the tune of “On diet breaks and Refeeds” that you might want to look up and read. One week is good, but your body is taking its own unscheduled maintenance break, and you might want to…

For me as of right now, it’s at the bottom of the add food page in a blue bar. You can toggle it on and off. Maybe they’re phasing it out for some people?

I guess on the web/desktop version you’d have to enter it into your diary, edit it there, then save it as a new meal and delete the old version. I don’t see an edit option on the web/desktop version for meals. If it’s an ingredient you use a lot, maybe set the amount to zero instead of deleting it. That way it’s there as a…

You can do this two ways- on the fly as you enter the meal in the diary, you can change each entry. Or, go to your settings page or “more” on the app, then to “my foods, recipes, and meals” then choose “edit.” Remember to save it, it’s really easy to back out without saving your changes from that screen.

If the barcode scanner came up with something nonsensical, you can use “report food” to do just that. However, realize that some barcodes for small companies may be using a generic barcode pattern, and may be close to what you need and not worth reporting. For instance, various baguette-type breads may be a carb off here…
-
The easiest is to add it as a “my foods” entry if the scanner won’t come up at all. (Make sure you’re connected to the internet, of course, so MFP can reach the database for the scanner to work properly). To add to your foods, go to settings or “more” on the app, then choose “my foods, recipes, meals,” and enter it…

It’s still there on the iOS app, at the bottom of the add food screen as a blue bar. What platform are you using- desktop vs app?

For anyone diagnosed with Binge Eating Disorder, or whose binge eating is consistently sabotaging their weight loss efforts, consider treating the binge eating first before taking a calorie deficit. Make a goal of weight maintenance at whatever current weight is, while focusing on changing eating habits and behaviors…
