Yeah but you never hear "Protein is bad, eat less of it" whereas with carbs you do so I can kinda see why people subconsciously eat less of it...
-
Sorry to be thick but what do you mean by "You simply use fat to fill out your calories instead of macros. Bread vs bacon, potatoes vs steak, pop tarts vs chocolate and whipped cream" What are macros?
-
Yeah my protein from the food diary I did was 67g, still had 17g remaining!
-
So from that personal experience I wouldnt want to restrict my carbs, it was awful! I upped my protein but restricted carbs!
-
I'm not restricting carbs but did wonder how people limit theirselves to 50g!! I would find that impossible! I tried cutting out carbs about a month ago (bad advice from a friend but I didnt know this at the time) I lasted 3 weeks and at the end of that 3 weeks I was lethargic, started getting headaches, was moody and…

I'm not sure why I thought it was just for Men to be honest, I just wanted to make sure women could followi it too :-) Thanks "xcalygrl" for your tips/advice....
-
OK great, thanks, I'm gonna give this a try, would you start it Monday or tomorrow? Can I just ask a few questions pleeease: 1. Shall I start tomorrow or Monday? 2. Where you say "add reps to each set until weight gets easier", do you mean, say, instead of doing 5 sets of 5 reps, do 5x sets of 6 reps? Yeah I will defo stay…

Yeah I've stopped using them now, I just measure my inches! It was really frustrating me and I kept feel really disheartened!

But isn't eating 500 calories of fruit better than eating 500 calories worth of chocolate/crisps etc!! I love fruit and although don't eat it all day long, I sometimes will have 2 bananas which I see as better than eating a bag of crisps! Yeah I could eat a yogurt or nuts (as some might say) but I prefer fruit. Plus eating…
-
Ah yeah I know what you mean now....thanks!! I'm new to all this bodyweight/strength training etc so will quite sit here wondering what thungs mean haha!
-
Yeah I'm starting to see more of those exercises that hit everywhere with my PT and by doing my research :-) i.e deadlifts, clean and press, inverted rows, squats, lunges! (im testing my knowledge there,am I right? ha)....I love reading all about the different workouts u can do and what they do but theres just so many! I…

Sorry to sneak in...whats a body weight workout??
-
I think I need to do some more research..."push/pulls" mean nothing to me :-( I've made a start by listing all the workouts Ive done via PT and bodypump, listed each workout, their main muscle group worked and other muscle groups worked and listed whether its compound or isolated workout!
-
I like compounds lifts and thats what my PT has shown me plus I do compound in Bodypump! so its not like they are very very new to me....
-
Thanks for your response! I've taken on board what everyone has said and will be using more of the compound movements my PT has shown me. Its just so much to take in! But seems Compound is the way!!!
-
Yeah I've been doing that to be honest but will continue to look for Compound Workouts...I'm not good at multi-tasking things so I prefer to concentrate on one thing at a time which is why I thought doing upper was better then doing full body! I got the reps from my PT and the workouts are just a combination of what I've…
-
I don't! I just included it because I like it! I know its not just upper body!
-
I know but he's shown me so much and I don't have enough time to do everything!! I like deadlifts! He's going to write me out a program for the next time I see him but in the meantime I want to do it on my own so was just asking for advice as I'm new to all this working out as I normally do classes (i.e. bodypump, Insanity)
-
Really...OK then, no its at the Gym, I have a PT once a week so I'm using the workouts he's taught me to continue doing my own workout but wasn;t sure of the best way to do it, upto now we've done upper and lower body workouts.....I go to the gym on my lunch hour so only get an hour.... I'll defo try compound next time but…

I'm so crap at making decisions, I read to much information then go on "information overload" rather just thinking "Right, this is what I want to do"....... So, today I want to work on upper body i.e. biceps, triceps, shoulders, back, would the following routine be OK? I've used this equipment before in bodypump so I know…
-
I didn't lift heavy but still got that "I've done something" feeling...will defo be incorporating these in my routines....I also did goblet squats, walking lunges, tricep dips, shoulder press and a bicep exercise where your feet are on the floor/you dig your heels in and pull yourself up - anyone know what this is called? I…
-
Yeah sorry, 4 sets of 10 reps (haha)....I've read that drinking lots of water helps with DOMS too and I am a big water drinker (3-5 litres everyday, reaching 5 litres when I'm working out) so maybe thats why, who knows!
-
Thanks for responding! I've got another session with PT so I'll speak to him too! :-)
-
I've never done a deadlift but I have a PT session tomorrow at the gym to go through Upper Body workouts so I'll ask him to show me how these are done as I see a lot of people do these!
-
Oh really, is that really too much....I am used to lunges/squats as I do them in Bodypump which I attend twice a week. Do you think I should reduce the amount of reps I do then? I felt I could handle doing them hence why I increased the reps :-) and was going to continue this routine for a small while.....
-
Thank you! I will try and enjoy myself! I'm sure I'll be fine but its the not knowing what to expect that scares me haha!
-
"I realized I was letting all this 'information overload' cripple me and prevent me from doing anything" [/quote] This is what was happening to me. I'm a sucker for taking in to much information and I got myself into a bit of a tiz so I booked myself an appt with the PT yesterday at the gym and have started to figure out…
-
That link is FAB! Just what I was after! Thank you ever so much
-
Whats a deadlift?
-
For now following my session today I don't plan to lift to heavy because I already lift relatively heavy in bodypump and am continuing to improve in those classes....Plus I know my limits and I know when it feels to light (if that makes sense)!
