I firmly believe that my mom has orthorexia. She has been battling breast cancer and follows a version of "clean eating" that has her cutting out dairy, gluten, sugar, anything from packages, and a long list of things that I just haven't paid attention to enough to remember. It has gotten to the point that she makes…

As long as it fits into your allowed calories, it is fine. The time of day doesn't really matter. Save some room for snacks at night and make sure you log whatever you eat

This right here is excellent advice! I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old. Naptimes were my workout until I started working from home and had the extra money for a gym membership. My 4 year old loves going to play with the other kids so much that she makes sure I get my butt moving every morning! It is also helping my baby…

That description almost makes me want to go read it. Almost.....

I second this. My husband secretly tries to plan physical activities for me to do on my rest days out of fear that I'll go on a rampage. On days I workout I love the world. On days I don't, I turn into a mega b****. Any time I get cranky after exercise it's because I haven't eaten enough.

Hi Natalie! I'm another mom here, mine are 4 and 1. I started out in the same size as you. Log everything, invest in a food scale, and make sure you take your before photos (they may seem depressing now, but you'll thank yourself later). As long as you're consistent with your logging, you'll lose the weight. Best of luck…

I'm 5'5 and currently 180. My goal for now is about 140, I will possibly drop another 10 after that. My goals are more fitness related, as soon as I get enough weight off I plan on doing a recomp and working to build muscle. Can't say I'm interested in getting lower than 125.

The fine print on all diet pills basically says that the product works best with diet and exercise. Of course, you could just diet and exercise for free. MFP really does break it down into the easiest way possible. Eat at a deficit, you will lose. Save the money and buy yourself an awesome wardrobe when you get to your…

I imagine life will be the same, I'll just be smaller, stronger, and hopefully a bit more self confident. But I will still be me, my life will still be the same, the only thing different than before will be the size clothing I wear and the amount of physical activity I include in my day. I do hope to be able to do more…

Such wonderful wisdom here! I experience a bit of what you are talking about from time to time. I get frustrated that I let myself get as big as I did, and that now it's taking so long to get this weight off. But then I try to focus on just how far I have come already, all the personal accomplishments that I have achieved.…

This is my second time as well. My first round I went about it the wrong way. I ate too few calories, demonized certain foods, and restricted myself way too much. It gave me a very unhealthy mindset and I burnt out quickly and gained it all back. This time around I have gone in with a better understanding of what works for…

This right here! I feel like whenever you post I should be taking notes. Same with mrm, usmcmp, mamapeach, kgeyser, and liftng4lis. I have learned so much from these forums! As far as my news feed goes, every time I see anything from @fatjon73, I have to smile. I swear, he keeps me coming back every day just to see his…

I kept getting tagged in those stupid plexus pictures and added to a bunch of fitness groups by the same person. I tried to politely inform her that I want nothing to do with her products, and I'll get fit my own way. She basically told me I was going to be fat forever. Now every time I see her "watch me or join me" posts,…

Homemade bread is like a little slice of heaven! I have a loaf baking as I type this Although I'm more of a coke zero kind of person, I actually like the way it tastes. But that's just me

Before I started my weight loss/fitness journey, I would have said she was bulky and her arms weren't very attractive. Now I think they're awesome, and I would love to look like that. Maybe not *quite* as lean, but that's just my taste.

If we're calling dibs, can I go ahead and take Brad Pitt from a few pages back?

I get it all the time from my mother in law, starting from day two. If I eat something healthy, I'm "doing that diet **** again." If I eat like a regular person I hear "pssh, that'll make you fat." Weighing food? I'm obsessive over this/giving myself an eating disorder. But you know what? I don't care. She is depressed…

It's really all a matter of personal preference and figuring out what works for you. Right now I'm exercising for an hour 5 days a week with rest days on the weekends. However, I have been informed that I will be increasing that to 6 days a week because I turn into a huge b**** when I don't get a workout in lol
-
Well now, that could be fun! You're getting an in depth look at the newest fads that will be discussed here, while being wise enough not to buy into them. And laughing at the idea that eating x ingredient 3 times a day will melt away the belly fat

There are a whole lot of diet myths out there, these forums pretty much debunk them all! .... And have pretty much ruined Pinterest for me now that I know 99% of the weight loss pins are wrong lol

I wore them all day every day when I was at my highest weight and ashamed of how big I had gotten. If sized properly, they aren't too bad.

Most of my calories are saved for a large dinner. I don't feel deprived of restricted in any way if I can pig out at night. Definitely seeing results!

Don't quit!!! I'm only a month into lifting with at least 30-40lbs left to lose. this past month the scale has barely moved (water retention, to be expected) but I have dropped a full size. The weight may come off more quickly without lifting, but you won't look nearly as great. Keep at it, the scale number isn't as…

Take a look at this thread. ALL of it http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/977538/halp-heavy-lifting-made-me-supah-bulky

Way to go on shifting the way you get rid of stress! I have been informed that I must go workout today, even though weekends are my rest days, because I turn into a complete and utter b**** when I don't exercise.

I began strength training almost a month ago, knowing full well that the numbers on the scale wouldn't move for a while. I expected it, thought I was thoroughly prepared for it. Turns out it was still a huge discouraging mind **** for me. But instead of giving up and going back to my light cardio routine that I saw steady…

Finally had my first loss after starting strength training almost a month ago. Felt so good to see that number move, even if I could see changes in my body already! Even though I expected it, it still kinda messes with your head. Glad to know a lot of other people lose this way too

I'm in the same boat, that's one goal I can never hit!

I felt the same way as you about the boards when I started. Then I saw the same questions being repeated and op's getting defensive of the big meanies trying to answer their questions honestly. Turns out most of them have a huge wealth of knowledge and give good evidence supporting what they are saying. It may not always…

The only way you're going to get that muscle is by working for it. And all the hard work that goes in is going to make it so much sweeter when you reach your goal
