What kind of longer distances are you talking about? Unless she's an athlete already, trying to do that much cardio is going to get her injured. http://www.runnersworld.com/tools/calories-burned-calculator Inputs, 5'5", 180lbs, 13 miles, 2:30 "Nice work! You burned 1,770 calories.. Check out the table below for your…

Using reasonable guesstimates for stats won't her TDEE for a sedentary lifestyle be in the range of 1700-1900 calories a day? If she's only eating 1200, she'd need to burn ~1,800 additional calories a day through exercise. Unless she's incredibly fit already, even reaching that level of exercise calories in a day seems…

P90X Legs and Back today. Whoever scheduled Biceps and Back on Wednesday and more back work on Friday is a masochist. It probably doesn't help that I did the last one at 8:30pm on Wed and this one at 4:30am today, but my back was still pretty sore. Fat2Burn, have you done P90X and if so how do you like it compared to…

Why wouldn't the stomach contract if continually underutilized? It definitely can grow in capacity greatly with proper training.

You need rotational speed and torque to calculate power, torque in Nm * rotational speed in radians/sec = power in Watts. What I have is just a dumb sensor. I checked and I did buy a Thun X-Cell RT, so hopefully it's still kicking around somewhere. It just has raw torque and speed outputs though, so it doesn't sound like…

That's interesting. Most power meters are crazy expensive, but I believe I have a bottom bracket torque/cadence sensor in a box with a bunch of other ebike parts that never ended up being used for anything. Do any of the common Garmin-style bike computers accept torque/cadence inputs, or are all the systems pretty closed?

If your stride is 1.5', 18000 steps would be 27000 feet or 5.11 miles. I can't see how that could possibly burn anywhere close to 1000 calories.

If you don't mind the sodium, I love pickles Bick's dill pickles (60g) - 5 calories Also, olives are super tasty and not too high in calories. Tassos Gourmet Double Stuffed Jalapeno/Garlic Olives - 8 calories Four olives and four pickles would be 52 calories, and that's over half a pound of snacks.

This is more general weightlifting related that P90X specific, but I've noticed especially on the bicep curls that my ability to do them is very on-off. For a lot of exercises I will start to feel them earlier and can power through the last few reps with them really burning. With the bicep curls, I can be starting with…

Heh, I try to stay away from the whiskey. It might be relatively low calorie, but the "Hey, we should order some nachos and wings" definitely isn't.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but my resting heart rate seems abnormally low as well. This isn't true resting heart rate, but mine measured over 30s is 52 sitting at my desk now, which for a 35 year old guy puts me in the middle of "athlete" range on a lot of charts. I have been exercising (P90X) ~1hr/day for the last 7…

Hard to go wrong with a gin martini. I'm not a scotch fan so there's not a lot of other booze I'll drink neat. Other than that, I like flavorful beers. Inoffensive lagers can be dangerous since they can go down like water, but the occasional pint is a great treat after a hard day.

Plyo is great. I swapped mine out for CardioX today ostensibly because I tweaked my Achilles tendon last week and I want to give it some time to rest (and I was feeling lazy after 3 hours of sleep last night), but I missed doing the full thing when I was done. Good luck today, and keep at it. Some of the moves are pretty…

Because I figured it would be easier to drop the 20 lbs around my waist now and keep it off than take off 50 in another 20 years. That, and I wanted to get a feel for what I actually eat. I never worried about it before, so I didn't have any idea how many calories I ate in a day. I'm a numbers guy, so I like knowing the…

Thank you for the answer. Based on some of the other reported numbers here, I'm leaning towards p90xcalories.com overestimating the number of calories used in a workout. The Plyo work is essentially exactly what you describe, doing things like jump squats at maximum intensity for 30s and then resting in between.…

Fairly new here, so forgive the rookie question, but what is the primary determinant of calorie burn in exercise? Is it the type of exercise, or the intensity of that exercise? Case in point, I'm into my second month of P90X, and the plyometrics workout is particularly challenging for me. Even though it's 30s of work with…

I'm in week 7 of my first time through P90X. It's been pretty intense so far. I really do enjoy it, but I'm not sure I'll run another round of it once I'm done here. These 4:30am mornings are rough. Strangely enough, I thought that I would favor the strength days, but I actually like the others more. I skipped X Stretch…

Wait until she discovers cobalamin. They put that crap in everything. Look at it, it's freaking massive and there's Cobalt in the middle. That's a heavier metal than Titanium or Chromium. If you don't read labels carefully, you'll find it in food, supplements, milk, everything. Scary what Big Pharma can get away with.

I'm quite new to logging foods, but how important is it to log everything even if they are not major sources of calories? For instance, this morning I had a single serving of yogurt, a couple over easy eggs, and a piece of toast with Becel on it. Those got added, but I left off salt, pepper and some Tabasco on the eggs. It…
