I try every morning before breakfast so that conditions are relatively the same. Even then it can fluctuate +/- 1lbs day to day, so having more sample points is nice to keep track of the trendline.

She was at a 40oz bottle of Jack for maintenance, but now that she's trying to bulk up she's tossing a couple six packs of a low carb beer in with dinner.

Trying to how much you've eaten/should eat by the difference between AM and PM weighing sounds like a terrible idea. The 0.1-0.3lbs you'll really lose in a day are completely swamped by daily fluctuations in your weight. Even your spread of 1 or 2 pounds between AM and PM is an order of magnitude larger than the amount…

That makes sense to me. I know every once in awhile I'll go a little nuts with the peppers when making Chili, and my portion size for that batch is probably 1/2 cup. The majority of those calories are probably spent sweating and shaking too.

I tend to have more of my protein in meals and snacks are usually protein deficient. For snacks, hardboiled eggs with a sprinkle of salt are great treats and they're actually reasonably filling. A extra large egg has less calories than a half cup of rice, and it's close to 50/50 fat and protein vs rice being almost all…

As ncboiler said, you'll still see the fluctuations if you weigh weekly. It would probably be more demotivating to see a gain of a couple pounds after a good week than to see daily fluctuations, even if that gain is just three pounds of water and you're actually down a pound for the week. I just weigh once a day at the…

Would an exercise bike not work, or do you need something that can be done without equipment?

We usually just have salmon with a nice rub and cook it up. We use an oil sprayer to put a bit (<1tsp) of olive oil down just to keep it from sticking. Just don't overcook it, as soon as the inside changes texture get it off and in your stomach.

If you don't have calories for that brew, you can usually just estimate by the proof of the beer. A pint of something like a 10% IPA will have pretty much double the calories of a 5% beer. If you can fit the calories in, go ahead. You'll enjoy it more than drinking a couple pints of Bud anyway, so it's not really empty…

My lunch in high-school consisted of a Long John or two for a snack in the cafeteria, and Pizza Pockets or a pot of Mac and Cheese for lunch. Unless I had an extra $5 on a Tuesday, then it was two footlong meatball subs at Subway. Inexplicably I was probably in the best shape of my life back then. All the damage from the…

Maybe his macros are 20/20/30/30 protein/fat/carbs/whiskey

LOL... I don't know. I lived south of the river when I lived there but still went up to Edmonton much more than to Calgary. That being said, I went to Kananaskis a lot, too.

Red Deer. It's the point where you get to pick any flight you want since YYC and YEG are the same distance.

The preschool my son goes to is inside a public school, but the pre-school itself is a private co-op. The school system itself doesn't run preschool. Maybe it's something similar to that.

SUGAR, UNBLEACHED ENRICHED FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, REDUCED IRON, THIAMINE MONONITRATE {VITAMIN B1}, RIBOFLAVIN {VITAMIN B2}, FOLIC ACID), HIGH OLEIC CANOLA AND/OR PALM AND/OR CANOLA OIL, COCOA (PROCESSED WITH ALKALI), HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, CORNSTARCH, LEAVENING (BAKING SODA AND/OR CALCIUM PHOSPHATE), SALT, SOY…

You could, if you don't exercise portion control.

I just can't understand why I'm not losing weight. I'm drinking 5 Slurpees a day which are even colder.

What puppy wouldn't be stressed out after a hard day laying in the yard? It's nice for them to come in, take off their doggie sweater and booties, and relax with a nice aromatherapy bath. They don't call it a dog's life because it's easy, you know.

Makes sense to me. There's nothing inherently Bro-ey about a low carb diet. On the other hand, "Don't eat those carbs Bro, they'll ruin your cut. Let's go grab a couple 24oz ribeyes instead." is all Bro.

When I make burgers at home, it's the same 90/10 lean beef we use for anything. I generally try to avoid fattier beef or bacon in the burgers themselves to prevent flareups. The beef itself is about 2:1 protein to fat, but that's before bacon (if used), cheese, and sauces. That's beside the original point though, which is…

Having a burger isn't cheating, it's supper. :P To clarify, I didn't say a Big Mac was the same as a non-fast food burger, I said the macro mix isn't wildly different. As an example, the last burger I ate was from this place: the Original. It was delicious. It also has 47g fat (12 saturated), 54g carbs and 41g protein,…

Why so much hate for a Big Mac, other than you not liking them? You talk about the fat breakdown, but the 10g of saturated fat and 1g of transfat in a Big Mac really isn't that bad. Even a Jalapeno Double has 9g of saturated fat and 1g of transfat, despite the burger weighing 159g to the 211g of the Big Mac. The JD gets…

Fair enough. I have a buddy who will order Molson 67 to save the 60 calories per beer (because he's watching his weight, you know) even though he doesn't really like it, but has no problem shoveling through a platter-sized plate of nachos with lord knows how many calories in it. That, I can't understand.

http://nutrition.mcdonalds.com/getnutrition/nutritionfacts.pdf Big Mac, 27g fat, 47g carbs, 24g protein. The Big Mac doesn't really have a much different fat/protein mix than most non-fast food burgers. Even on my 1640 calorie MFP goal I could have a Big Mac for supper and it would hit my fat goal for the day, and I'd be…

Next fad diet: Eliminating the unnatural processing caused by hanging meat to drain. From now on, it's straight off the carcass for me.

Someone made something similar when I was going through university. It was a few layers of bacon weave between sponge cake. Absolutely disgusting. I just took out the bacon and ate it on its own, and threw away the grease soaked sponge cake.

So wait, let's see if I've got this right. Pork = Good Salt = Ok Salt + Pork + Water + Time = Bad I don't get it. Is the water in bacon bad, or is it the time? Should I try to cut back on my water intake?

I didn't even know eating my zodiac sign was an option. I can't wait to tell my wife this Taurus is going steak and eggs for breakfast, beef dips for lunch and a full roast for supper day in and day out. I'd better make sure the low end of the scale is calibrated right.

Yes. Also, when should I be over on Friday for supper?

We recently switched our dinnerware set from a fairly large stoneware one to a more kid-friendly Corelle set, and it's made a big difference in choosing appropriate serving sizes. With the old set, a plateful of spaghetti was about 3lbs worth, and a bowl full of Cheerios would be 3 cups with room to spare. Being content…
