Oh really? I'd love to see that.

Depends on the fat content of your cat. I wouldn't recommend eating one every day, but the occasional feline as part of a well balanced diet won't harm anything.

He did lose a lot of weight though.

I don't believe a word of that.

Why? The stuff obviously works. People give me crap about putting kittie litter in my morning coffee as well, but I haven't been attacked by a single tiger since I started. Works for me.

Depends what you mean by cheat days, but I don't have a set day or plan a meal over my goal just to have one. That being said, I have no problem going out and having a meal that puts me over my goal if there's a reason to. Just log it and keep it in mind for the rest of the week. I think being mellow about your targets and…

You almost have to wonder if she actually believes that crap. Rubbing lemon oil on the skin to purge toxins? Really?
-
It's just a guess for me, but I just try to look up something similar. My big thing is vermicelli noodle bowls, since we'll go out for them every couple weeks at work. Luckily, a little bit of googling was able to find basically the same dish in what seems to be a similar size, so I just used that. Hopefully it's close

That's only a dozen chocolate shakes. You just need a warm day for motivation.

Could the body even create 2lbs of new fat in one day, or at some point would it just start excreting the extra calories without using them?
-
That's my plan as well, I'm currently getting up at 4:30 to do my P90X, and since I often don't get to sleep until 1-2am, it gets a little old. If the results are at least reasonably similar I'd sure love to sleep in until 5:30.

I like doing a little cardio in the morning before a workout because it helps wake me up, but without dietary changes running a mile every day isn't going to burn a pound a week on its own. Better to approach weight loss through diet than trying to sweat off the pounds doing something you hate.
-
I was going to say the same thing. No matter what, there's the two seconds of "Oh my God what... oh yeah, beets." Peeing in the morning is actually almost worse for me, since I'm usually half asleep and don't notice the bowl's all reddish until I'm almost done.

I wouldn't worry too much about the occasional deviation from your plan, especially if it's not a common thing. I ate 2500 calories of various egg shaped chocolate on Easter Sunday (those Reese Eggs are seriously chocolate crack) along with a massive dinner, but I'm not going to fret over it. Worst case is I might not lose…

I find the exercises on the P90X Ab Ripper X DVD to be a great workout for the 20 minutes it is, and it's a lot easier on my lower back than crunches.
-
Is the point of many of these diets to make the act of eating so unenjoyable that you naturally restrict calories and lose weight?

Planking is a pretty dynamic exercise for me; about 10 seconds after I get into a plank I have two kids jumping up and down on my back. I wonder if MFP has a category for horsey rides?
-
Wow, 90 minutes to mow the lawn? How big is your yard?
-
I don't know much about swimming, but the MFP numbers on cycling seem to match pretty well with other sources, plus cycling is really easy to track. If she went 11 miles in an hour, Livestrong gives 418 calories for that for someone who's 155lbs, and bicycling.com and MFP give 422 calories in the hour.
-
Three hours of exercise and an hour of walking is quite a bit. I know MFP overestimates, but 700 calories seems like a low estimate especially with all the swimming unless the OP is very small.

LOL... I think I broke my account. I was trying to add a recipe from the web to my recipe box, from http://www.food.com/recipe/chickpea-daal-indian-24351 It isolated the ingredients correctly, but when I clicked on match ingredients it sat there loading for a little while before erroring out. Now every time I try to click…

Do a lot of elementary schools in the US have cafeterias? Until I hit high school, if I didn't bring it with me I didn't eat. The special pizza / hot dog days once every couple months where you'd bring your $5 and get a couple slices or dogs were pretty exciting.

Yeah, I believe we're thinking along the same lines. The nutrition is determined by what goes into the dish. However, since we make a big dish and then it's served out in various sizes to different people, it's desirable to have an easy way of mapping calories per g or per ml of finished product when the inputs can change…
-
I think that's pretty similar to what I was imagining, though using volume instead of weight. Measure the calories going in, then measure the total volume/weight and serving volume/weight to get the amount you actually ate. We don't really have standard serving sizes, it's usually more along the lines of a big scoop for…

I appreciate the answers. I do like the idea of just weighing the crockpot or lasagna pan on the scale when it's done cooking, even though it means I need to go out and buy a larger food scale. @nuffer, that's one of the things I struggle with. Rice for instance I prefer al dente, so I don't use the 2 part to 1 part ratio…

McDonalds burgers make people fat because they eat it for lunch every day. Per burger, they're actually pretty light for a burger out because they are so cheap on the ingredients. A Quarter Pounder with Cheese at 520cal/41carbs/26fat/29protein is a diet burger compared to the Kona (sweet teriyaki sauce, grilled pineapple,…

I use two 50lb plate weights to set mine. They're a little less variable day to day than I am. :)

I'd disagree on that. Competitive eaters train months and years to increase stomach capacity. Next time you're at the store, grab two gallons and a pint of milk and look at them in your cart. That's the same volume of chili that Joey Chestnut can eat in *6* minutes.
