  • That is a hard one, eggs are a good "go to" for low carb breakfast. If I was not eating eggs, I usually did what other posters mentioned and had non traditional breakfast food. Maybe some deli meat and cheese roll ups with some chopped veggies. I agree that a shake can work, I have done coffee with ice, vanilla protein,…
  • I have only done atkins, no other keto diet, but they advise that you can't go nuts on calories but you don't need to count them super strictly like you would on a traditional diet. Basically, when you are low carb eating, you are able to eat more (not tons..) calories than other food plans. For example, I was eating…
  • La Criox!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Do you mean on a scale or in inches around your body of mm of fat on a caliper? The scale can be a funny thing. I agree that water retention can add to the scale and add bulk. Sodium should be 1500-2300 mg per day. Also, i think dehydration makes you retain water. Otherwise, as you know it is a in and out game. I know that…
  • I love eating a keto diet. It really helps me with making healthy food choices, controlling portions, and staying in a good calorie range. Nothing has been more effective for me for weight loss and food control. It is harder to do high intensity working out without the carbs. Also, I take potassium supplements for leg…
  • I have definitely had issues like this and what helps me the most is restrictions. I have had the best success doing Atkins actually, and never would have thought so. What I found was that I felt satisfied and saw results, which continue to keep me on a good path. The things that I struggled with were sugars and other…
  • I am a big fan of atkins, if you follow the way they outline it for you on their website, not what you think atkins is (based on what you have heard). I had tried a lot of things in the past, but Atkins REALLY worked for me. I did the regular atkins, also knows as atkins 20 (20-25 net carbs per day). It really helped me to…

  • I also found that when I starting eating less process foods and more protein (including meat, fish, and eggs), I was much more successful with losing weight and gaining muscle tone. I have a ways to go but I think eating meat and losing weight go well together.
  • I think doing low carb really helps kick off a healthy lifestyle. It helps you take out all the processed foods but still helps you stay full due to fat and protein. I did atkins (traditional) also called atkins 20 for about 9 months and lost 75 lbs. I stayed between the 20-25 nets carb range and make sure to stay within…
  • Lemurcat, thank you for your post. I did not realize I was being insensitive and appreciate you pointing it out. Sometimes we don't realize how the things we say impact people, but if no one ever points it out, we keep doing it. I apologize for the flippant use of the term, and will be more considerate in future posts.
  • Thanks for the comments everyone. I really appreciate the comments that gave advice for how to manage food cravings and moderate treats when you chose to have them. You have helped me to feel empowered and encouraged.
  • Clarification to my question, RobD. I think your post stays people become food dependent but not food addicted. Am I reading it right?
  • HI! I liked your post as I am someone who just posted with a title about sugar addiction. It was more meant to just be a silly illustration about how I feel (taken pretty seriously by a lot of people, I wish I would not have titled it that), but you are right to say I was looking for some help and encouragement about…
  • I just read your post, and though this is not an answer to your question, I just wanted to say you are doing so well! I love hearing about people who have been successful with losing weight and getting in shape, creating a healthy lifestyle. Just reading your post was an encouragement to me. I can relate to you plateau…
  • Thanks for the replies so far, I have some reading to do. I am now realizing saying fasting maybe was not the best idea, I do eat about every 3 hours or so. So I would have had meal in the past three hours and maybe a little snack so i was not hungry an hour or so before if I needed it, like a hard boiled egg or some…
  • I understand that having treats, such as ice cream, in moderation is ok. What I am expressing is my choices are not in moderation and I feel out of control when I make them. I am still trying to loose weight and this is a hinderance for me. I have noticed since I made these changes that I gaining some fat stores.
  • Thanks for the reply, exercise is actually the main reason I wanted to reintroduce healthy carbs! I wanted to have more energy during workouts and to build muscle.
  • Hi! I agree with you. Having positivity in your life is so important. I love my fitness for keeping accountable. You have made so much progress! I know it is hard when you hit a plateau and dont see movement on the scale or tape measure like you were, but it is a HUGE accomplishment to maintain progress you have already…
  • Also, I forgot to say 30 minutes a day is easily enough! It is all about INTENSITY. You can use heavier weights and move faster. I don't have any idea where you are starting from. But I would say if it does not feel hard when you are doing it, then you will likely not get results. Through it is hard for me to imagine it…
  • I have had really good success using a variety of fitness videos to increase my muscle tone, including those from Jillian Michaels. As long as you are really pushing yourself and focusing during the videos, and moving up to the next level when you are making progress, you should increase muscle tone. JM videos always use…
