  • If you notice a difference in clothes in just three weeks I'd say youre doing pretty good! You could always try measuring (waist, hips, arms, thighs, etc.) as a way of keeping track. That says more than just one number. My scale gives me three different numbers stepping on it three subsequent times. Its annoying I dont…
  • My first pregnancy I should have exercised more. Exercise was almost non existent. Like take walks most days of the week. Due to no fault of my own, I retained water like crazy so I gained 60+ pounds which made me worry if other people were judging me. My next one, especially since now I'm overweight, I plan on keeping a…
  • I think I burned myself out trying to do two medium-high intensity workouts a day. Slow and steady it is
  • I did great for a week and ahalf and then gave up. I need to do this challenge!
  • Thanks to everyone's replies and assurance. The thought didn't really cross my mind at my last appointment, I've just started thinking more recently about how I would like this pregnancy to be and what to be different from my first. I plan on asking him his opinion next time I see him - maybe for blood work or for my first…
  • As the other poster said, your calves can and will get toned. If you hold light weights, it can also help tone your arms. I previously lost about 10-12 lbs in a month doing zumba as my only form of exercise. There are lots of zumba and "zumba" (would call them more dance than true zumba) routines you can find on youtube.…

  • Thanks! I have noticed less hunger from many of my choices. I guess I'll have room in the budget for some treats!
  • I'm not doing any sort of specific diet. I'm mainly trying to focus on portions, listening to hunger cues (I used to graze all day), and keeping to my main calorie goal, although my main sources of protein are lean meats.
  • Thanks for everyone's replies. It looks like i'm having the same problem today. I had my morning coffee around 9 and a few cups of water/tea. I tried eating some chicken around noon (maybe 4oz worth) in some soup and couldn't finish. I almost felt sick even though I was a little hungry. Almost 5pm and still not hungry. I…
  • I'm with you, OP. I got back fat rolls a few months ago (never had them before). Thats part of what made me decide I need to lose weight. Next would be my stomach, even though Im biggest in my hips.
  • I love it. I do it at home (on the wii and some youtube videos for newer songs I love) but I did a class at college and both are great. It helps with cardio and my legs get a great workout. Better than running in my opinion as you typically burn more calories since you're moving your arms (if you're doing a moderate to…

  • I'm sure that will be last for me! Fortunately my husband likes that, haha. But just make lower body workouts one of your main focuses and toning will eventually make all the difference
  • I just [restarted] my weight loss three 21 days ago. I've lost 10lbs. I asked my husband if he could notice yet and he said he could tell in my face. 5'2" and 172 lbs. But I am pear shaped and carry most weight in my hips and thighs. Edit: 24yo
  • I've had some knee issues over the last year. I'm pretty out of shape so running just discourages me. If you are able, walk on an incline. Depending on the grade, you can burn double just by changing that! I've been doing 5% and its challenging but keeps me better motivated for not burning out so quickly.
  • I had implanon for 3 years and nexplanon for 2 (took it out last month TTC). Four the first 3.5 years my weight was stable without trying to diet or exercise differently. In the last year and half I gained nearly 30 pounds. Wasn't the BC, it was me. my lifestyle changed, diet, less exercise, injury, etc. Yeah it had other…
  • Ive hardly ever eaten breakfast since I was in grade school. When I wake up (7am) I have coffee with my pills/vitamin (ill get nauseous if I don't at least have coffee w/ milk). I typically don't get hungry until noon. I have a two-three large snacks/small meals. I also eat a late dinner. If I eat breakfast then I will be…
  • I've been experiencing this too! I chalked it up to starting a prenatal vitamin (with tons of iron) around the same time of my diet change. Likely a combination of both. I probably skimp on the fat. I was thinking about posting this question but was too embarassed :p haha so thanks.
  • So whats the whole deal I see all the time with diet drinks being worse than regular (or no better)? Are people claiming its the artificial sweetener or just the fact that its soda?
  • If I could afford a personal trainer, I would do it. I'm extremely shy in public and new places. due to a knee injury/surgery I went to PT for nearly six months. My sessions after surgery were intense. They pushed me and I think having "strangers" watching me helped me push myself. I didn't want to look pathetic
  • My husband and I decided to try for our first baby (we each have one daughter) I just had my nexplanon removed a month ago and I know it can take a while to get pregnant. I have at least 50 pounds to lose to be not overweight. While not an issue yet, I want to lose as much as I can before getting pregnant (or to help get…
  • thanks @singingflutelady for that info. I started taking a prenatal vitamin last month and [iron] is killing me, so it might not be too bad. Though I will cut back on sweetener anyway. And with how much splenda and truvia cost it will save me a ton of money, haha.
  • Is that something you can buy? What names do they sell it under? As long as it doesn't have any more dangers than typical sweeteners I don't have an issue.
  • Thats exactly like me. Its hard to drink plain water. I can only have maybe 1 cup after exercising then I need to add cyrstal lite, mio, etc.
  • A long time ago (years) I drank juice and soda in limited quantities, but now its hardly ever even in the house. I wouldn't say I traded anything for it. Sugar, I probably use 3 tablespoons in drinks (although its beginning to be too sweet). I definitely will be trying to decrease the sweetener no matter what I use.
  • I've never seen one actually. I had a primary care doctor who had hypo too, but after two visits I had serious concerns about her medical training. My mother is a doctor of osteopathic medicine and anytime I talk to her about food/diet/losing weight she pretty much says what everyone says, work out and watch what you eat!…
  • Oh yeah, I have about 12 different kinds of black, green, and herbal tea in my kitchen! Although you are right, the more naturally sweet teas I probably could add less sugar than normal and I wouldn't notice. I think I just had this idea in my head that normally I use 4 packets so I need 4 packets in every cup for each…
  • Thanks for that idea! I actually have been thinking about that. I've cut way back on sweet things (like dessert) and am at the point where some things if I eat to much I get sick of the sugar. I started today with less sugar in my coffee (truvia, and it tasted better in my coffee w/ milk vs. tea with water) and it actually…
  • Since splenda was introduced (when I was a kid) that's what my mom would buy. My mom bought a huge Costco box of truvia for us to try a couple weeks ago. It had a really weird taste to us, almost like no taste (sweetness) at all. I guess I'm just so used to the chemical taste of splenda, but regular sugar doesn't bother…
  • Thanks, Jon. This is probably my third try using MFP in a year. It seems like each time I quit my weight goes up slightly more. I feel SO much better about myself this week. You know, not being lazy. Before, I didn't eat a lot (volume wise) or hardly any dessert type food, but it was a lot of starchy food like tortillas,…
  • Since August I've had an extremely sedentary lifestyle due to a couple factors...two knee injuries, quit my extremely active job, and depression. (Like a few weeks ago I literally would wake up, drive my kid to school, then sleep til 2pm...I figured it better since it burns more calories than watching TV). I also have…
