  • I've been eating pizza this past week. I didn't eat pizza before, but now that I'm trying to maintain weight and not lose, it actually fits in my calories. When the nausea comes on all of a sudden I just grab whatever I can find - cheese, crackers, leftovers (chicken strips, soup) I can warm up quickly. Overall though, I…

  • Right after I wanted to join this challenge I found out I was pregnant. YAY. Also, what a mind game going from a huge deficit to trying to maintain! Soon I will have to deal with (and be okay with) the scale going up. I'm waiting on other tests coming later this week and dont want to jump in too hard and jeopardize…
  • I was pretty healthy as a kid (back then I wouldn't have agreed). When I got pregnant at 17, at 5'2" I went from 130lbs to 194lbs! I was on the verge of gestational diabetes and for whatever reason just swelled up in the beginning of my second trimester. Fortunately, 2 weeks post delivery I was back down to around 155lbs.…
  • I've been hypo (postpartum) for over six years. As long as you are treated (which you said you are, and assuming your levels are stable) then you just have to do what everyone else does-eat at a calorie deficit. I used the "I'm hypothyroid so its harder for me to lose weight" excuse before and that's all it is, an excuse.…
  • Feel free to friend me! After spending the last two months on MFP losing 25 lbs I found out I'm now 5 weeks pregnant. I'm happy but its a huge mind game for me to go from eating at a pretty big deficit to trying to maintain. I'm looking forward to making this as healthy a pregnancy as possible!
  • I don't do a cheat day. I could easily erase the deficit I've already made and I've been working hard. If you do, log everything so you know where you stand if you gain 1/2 or 1 pound back during the week - you'll know why. I fit everything into my calories allotted for the day. So once in a while ill have ice cream (or…

  • I'm 4 weeks (found out very early thanks to my worrisome doctor! haha) and conceived while losing weight pretty dramatically. I've been on BC for 5 years through January so no known fertility issues, but first try succeeded while/after losing 24 lbs in the preceding 60 days. I was in the obese category and wanted to lose…
  • I've had a 5lb weight increase then it would drop 6+ lbs a week later.
  • I went back to work part time and wanted something easy to take for breaks/lunch. I bought the vanilla nd chocolate cans of powder. Its marketed as a meal replacement but it does not fill me up by any means. I would consider it more of a supplement. Depending on my calorie allowance sometimes it doesn't seem worth the cost…
  • So its still a mystery regarding my slight hair loss. Along with my fuzzy/light headedness. Blood work says iron, blood glucose, tsh t3/4 are all normal. The only surprise came after he insisted for a blood pregnancy test which came back positive! (And I'd done a pee test the day before which was neg.) I'm sure ill be…
  • I stock up on the green giant veggie steamers. That's almost the only way ill get in vegetables daily. I'll sit down with a whole bag and depending on which type it may be 90-200 calories for lots of veggie volume.
  • That's awesome, congrats! Its amazing how much weight you can lose having a baby ;) I admire your commitment to your health!
  • Is your thyroid condition under control/do you take medication?
  • I would say after a month. I went out to eat and had a bowl of soup (maybe 1-1.5 cups) and a side of sweet potato. My stomach was hurting and i was full the whole day. Prior to that I could put away twice that in one sitting. My stomach has probably shrunk a bit and gotten used to small "snacks" throughout the day.
  • I lost 5 pounds in the six days following the start of my period. I imagine it was just hormones holding onto some water weight. The next to weeks I lost nothing. Just wait a couple weeks and I'm sure it will average out.
  • Had a sip of beer at my cousins wedding at 16. Again half a beer at my sisters wedding at 19. Five months before my 21st bday I got into clubs with my real ID(lol) and started drinking.
  • I'm 5'2" and pretty sedentary without intentional exercise. So MFP gives me 1290 a day to lose 1lb/wk. I've just crossed into the overweight bmi from obese so I don't think I being too aggressive at this point, but I definitely had the wrong focus on total calories vs. macros (and micros). A "scare" like this certainly…
  • I spoke to a doctor today who suspects the hair loss is an effect of removing my progestin birth control in January. Still want all my blood work done though.
  • I do have hypothyroidism but its been under control for the last six years. I'm getting those labs done in the next two weeks in case my somewhat quick weight loss has had an effect on the dosage (hyperthyroid symptoms).
  • Check portions. Weigh them. I'm 5'2" 161lbs with (treated) hypothyroidism and have lost on average over 2 lbs a week the last two months on 1100-1300 calories. I agree with above poster, get up. Tell her to go walking a few times a week. If anything, exercise makes you feel better.
  • Fortunately I haven't noticed any of those other things. I've got such thick (volume) hair that I shed like crazy anyway, haha, I'd never notice til it was half gone.
  • I'm hoping it helps with the lower calorie goal. I'm still trying to figure out how to get everything in a 1200cal diet (short is no fun food wise!) If I can't figure it out soon I may have to up the food and then exercise more.
  • I think I missed the part about malnutrition in the article, could you point me in the right direction?
  • I feel pretty good. I feel more energetic than I did in before, exercising even better. I will be getting annual blood work done shortly so I will be sure to have that ordered. It does seem like a few weeks is too soon, but I still want to be cautious cause I have a while to go (weight loss wise). I may go ahead and get an…
  • The drawback for me is I'm actually eating more calories so my weightloss has slowed haha. I was overestimating prior to buying my scale, so I was actually eating less than 1200 if I recorded 1200. Now I'm really eating 1200 so less of a deficit.
  • Its quite possible I was more in denial about my body than I thought prior and never noticed any asymmetry. Or at least I rarely stare at myself naked, lol. I do a lot of zumba on the Wii so I wondered if the belt had something to do with that, but its not like I wear it all day. Until I lose more weight I think its gonna…
  • The main concern with fish is mercury. My main protein/meat source is fish as well. It mainly depends on type/size of fish. Large predatory fish like shark, swordfish, king mackerel, and tilefish all typically have high levels of mercury. I would eat these only occasionally Salmon, anchovies, herring, sardines, trout, and…

  • This isn't quite something I personally did today, but a result of my last 45 days of work. I got hit on at the store this morning. That hasn't happened in probably two years. I've lost 20 pounds so I assume that has something to do with it, haha. Maybe its becoming more noticeable to others, and that is only motivation…
  • Depending on how much you have to lose, 20lbs could happen. Is it the healthy standard? No. And you shouldn't do extra (VLCD, etc) to try and meet that goal, but I just lost my first 19.5lbs in 5.5 weeks following what MFP told me to do. Even still, 16lbs (2lbs/wk) would make a huge difference and I'm sure the dress would…
