Lord this thread went off the rails. :o

I'm curious if this is pretty common with women. I've seen it a few times myself, but I'm not one to observe to the point it would embarrass someone. Can you ladies chime in on this? Common or not so much?

So you are saying there are absolutely no dangers in doing a low carb vegan diet? Nothing you would warn them of? I call bs. [edited by MFP Mods]

Correct me if I'm wrong but the vegan macro ratio is 80/10/10. The dangerous part of lowering the carb here is while lowering those carbs, you'll also lower protein levels. And in my view to a dangerous/unhealthy level.
-
The low carb part.

Remember that a healthy lifestyle isn't a sprint, it's a marathon. Try not to get too overwhelmed with all of the info. Take things slow and you will reach your goals. Also set small goals, weekly goals for yourself. This will help your confidence.

Oh, she did more than hear me lol. I blame the protein of course :)

You can still use them. I've used a protein powder that was long past the shelf date. Protein powder unopened will be perfectly fine to consume.

Are you taking any diuretics? These can flush potassium and magnesium from the muscle.

I used to run a keto diet to lean out, but I hated the transition back and forth from very low carb to a more balanced macro profile. The transition between the two always made me feel horrible during that period. Today I follow a more balanced macro plan (50/30/20) and start my diet earlier for my summer physique. It's…

Sounds like a dangerous diet to me.

I view fruit smoothies as a dessert. Some people view them as a healthy choice and are ("diet food"), but the truth is fruit smoothies are loaded with sugar. Just budget for this in your daily macros and you will be gtg.

I mix crushed pineapple with my cottage cheese for my bedtime snack. Cottage cheese is one of the best sources of casein protein available.

I'm a fan of the modified Atkins diet.

I do not recommend the strips to measure ketones. Once the body goes into ketosis, it's burning those ketones that you're trying to measure. This happens before they are discharged through urination. If you go into deep ketosis, you'll often find the strips reading that you are not in ketosis. A blood test is the best way…

I'm not currently doing a keto diet, but have done it in the past. Do you have a way to measure your ketones? I would suggest getting a ketone meter if not.

My username was pretty simple to come up with. :D
-
What are you using to track ketones?
-
Apple watch is what I use. Very accurate heart rate monitoring.
-
Yes you can! Recomposition of the body WHILE dieting will occur if you eat below maintenance and excersise.

I'm 6'3" and started at 210 lbs. click my profile and check my food diary. I consume roughly 2800 calories per day. It's clean and hits macros of 40/40/20.

You will notice changes after the first week. You'll lose your water weight first then things slow down. The water weight in your case is about 5-7lbs. Go by the mirror and not the scale to detect changes.
-
The amount you weigh doesn't tell you the entire story. The reason why the scale isn't moving is because your adding new muscle. Muscle is more dense and will misled you if you are tracking by weight alone. You should be going by body measurements and what you see in the mirror.
