Because nature put it inside the banana?

I think you are incorrect there. Growth hormone has no effect when ingested as it cannot survive the digestion process.

Reverse dieting.

Your pants were skin tight after gaining five pounds?!?

Mrs Floyd says everything's working just fine in that department, but thanks for the concern. Think I'll give up coke just the same.

Google "osmotic diuresis". Perhaps I have misunderstood it, but I had this explained to me by a nurse. But in any case surely some kind of water loss is the only logical explanation for the weight loss that was described in the original post... unless you are supporting the idea of 1.8 lbs of fat loss in one day?
-
You probably were dehydrated after eating so much sugar in one hit. That would explain the 1.8 pounds weight loss.

@brdnw has a good point. If you eat hyper-palatable junk foods all the time then natural, plain, healthful foods simply don't taste good. Your tastebuds get overwhelmed. Get really hungry, even fast for a couple of days if that's what it takes, and then you'll discover how good a fresh carrot or a grapefruit tastes. Or…

The calculator seems to be assuming that if you increase exercise to lose weight you will keep up the same level of exercise once you've lost it. It doesn't ask that quesiton but that's the only way I can explain the results I got. Just for fun I told it I wanted to lose 16lbs in one month (the maximum it would allow me)…

Personally I would question your PT's advice. I'm not a fitness pro but I believe there is evidence to suggest that fasted cardio has benefits for increased fat burning. I understand there is an argument for both approaches (fasted/non-fasted), but if your primary goal is weight loss and you aren't feeling weak or deprived…

Thanks for the suggestions. My lady (not a member here) was looking into an expensive derma rolling treatment so it is of interest. As we understand it derma rolling stimulates collagen production, whereas loose skin is caused by lack of elastin, is that correct? So derma rolling or any collagen-based supplements such as…

Greek yogurt. The fage non fat kind. it's just as good as whey powder for the same calories.

I get tired of listening to people chew potato chips all around me in the office. That crunching sound. and the rustling of the bag as they reach in for more. And, at the movie theatre... people chowing down on popcorn and slurping those massive drinks...

you can't go wrong with ken hom. I also like adding star anise in copious amounts to any chicken stirfry http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/cashewchickenwithsti_67792 http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1424/ken-homs-stirfried-chicken-with-chillies-and-basil

This answer contradicts what Pu_239 said above about the person in the stall out who was eating 1,100 calories and not losing any weight. Can anyone tell me which answer is correct? p.s. i think there should be a sticky post about this. reading through the previous conversations so many people ask about this!

Semolina.

Yes, I believe we are in agreement, wasn't it the machine manufacturers who promoted the 50% max heart rate as being the 'fat burning zone'.
-
That's interesting, but the facts can be slightly misleading... A higher percentage of your calorie burn is from fat at low intensity. But your calorie burn is much higher at high intensity. For example if you workout at 50% of your max heart rate (low intensity) you burn 7 calories per minute 90% of those calories are fat…

Apple cider vinegar works for acid reflux although I don't know if there' s anything special about Bragg's particularly. Just make sure you get the one with the mother.

I'm planning on doing the 5/2 diet for maintenance when I get to that point. After getting to my goal weight I'm sure I'll be able to handle two days of extreme calorie restriction per week! And eat what I want the rest of the time, with moderate portion sizes of course. Or you could just try to find an exercise you enjoy.…
