8k tempo run this morning. First time running in a storm. I got soaked to the skin and blown around. Fun? @ftrobbie : happy to hear you're out running again. @LLduds : how'd the race go? 12k run scheduled for tomorrow, but I don't know if I'm up for another run while there's a rainfall warning. Guess I'll wait and…

Finally worked up the courage to start the endo 10k improver plan. I think my hesitation stems from the fact that I'm a little leery of interval work. Despite my anxiety, I quite enjoyed last night's run. I have a real speed issue, in that despite how hard it ends up being on me I can't seem to slow down. The workout was…

I looked. I can't believe it! I looked to sign up, but it's a half-marathon soooo . . . before the end of the early bird deadline (early December) I'll see how far I'm coming in the newest program and if I think my knees and ankles are up for a half-marathon stint I'll do it. I don't know if the ol' body is up to the…

Been a while since I checked-in. Loving the updates. I'm a little late on the congratulations but, @taeliesyn : you are a beast!! Well done, you crazy man you. ;) @moyer566 : hope your shins and calves co-operated better this morning and Saturday is a great run for you. @Just_Ceci : loved your pictures! That is a good…

Busy day planned, so only have time to pop in and quickly say . . . . . . this morning I ran my first 10k in 1:04:14 with an average pace of 6:25/km Proud of myself. Now, I'm off to have some fun with family and will be back over the weekend to see how everyone else is!

nice work all. it's been busy while i was away (eating ice cream and being lazy)! i ran my last workout with a walking break today. managed to go 9.73 km in 1:02:21 - i was tempted to just keep going until i hit 10k, but i ran out out of route and i couldn't imagine running past my house (which is 1/4 up a considerable…

We adopted a mixed breed (shepherd, husky, lab - we think) dog from a shelter at Christmas. I was so excited to have an exercise partner. Turns out she has hip dysplasia, and has blown the ligaments in one (if not both) of her knees due to being "cow-hocked". She is not even a year old and moves like she's 13. Breaks my…

Sorry to hear about your knee, Robbie. I'm just new at running, and get super antsy when not able to run like I want to. I can only imagine your frustration. @taeliesyn - what kind of pup do you have? @LLduds - loved reading your update, sounds like an excellent run! Your 10k should match up really well with the end of…

That's CRAZY TALK! :p Had a good run tonight. I've decided to skip a few weeks in the b210k program and completed w13-d1 (2, 22-minute jogs with a 1 min walk sandwiched between). I managed 7.1km in 46:11. Yesterday I tried an interval program on my treadmill - it was horrid (read: hard). My heart rate went through the roof…

It does feel good to reach the place where you feel confident to continue on running! I get goosebumps while out sometimes when I realize I've been RUNNING for the last 30+ minutes. I clearly remember week 4 of c25k and struggling to finish the final 5 minutes of running. I hated week 4!

I remember those days! I'd jog across the intersection during one of my walks and get all winded. It's amazing how fast our bodies adapt and how much we are capable of. It's a good reminder to acknowledge how far we've come since our early c25k days.

I feel like I just burned 1000 calories by simply reading how active you've been. Wow!

I keep hearing about strava, so I downloaded the app and started an account. Um, that program is for real! I glanced at the segments, and they're all climbs (what the *@#?) and one of them is 13.3%! I'm so a beginner. I like my routes as flat as I can get 'em! I was at the first workout of week 11 yesterday (had to do an…

The first part of my route is a slow, gradual rise. I really dislike it, but know it's good for me. Kinda like kids and veg. Ha! I love that your husband is doing c25k, I keep trying to tempt mine, but he has yet to bite. A running partner would be nice some days.

soooo . . . had to cut my last run of week 10 short. i think i've got a touch of what my little chappy just pulled through and instead of taking the long way home i bee-lined for the shortcut before things got dire! Only 6.6 km today - but i ended up running 4 km last night "for fun". i fully intended to just go for a walk…

i'm entirely inspired by all the experienced runners here. pretty sure i'll need to stop at 10k distance runs as i have to fight the way my body is built to continue running, but it really does help light a fire under my butt when i feel myself dragging in the last bit of each session. mad props! i had a GREAT run this…

finished the first run of week 10. went way, way, way too fast (new personal best for 1 km - 5m:05s) and it happened to coincide with the part of the route which has me on a gradual incline. PANT! PANT! PANT! as much as my ol' ticker wanted me to move slower my brain kept saying "this is too slow" - "you're going so slow"…
-
the weather is miserable today. i didn't have it in me to take my run outside so . . . out came the treadmill. *yawn* i knew that i'd probably walk right off during the first break of the workout, so i just decided to run the whole darn thing. continuously. 40 minutes at an easy speed of 5.5 mph (thanks to the treadmill).…

thank you for all the suggestions to try a different app. i have used the zenlabs app and completed the first two sessions with great success. THIS is what i was struggling to find and i am again inspired to reach my new goal (10k runs). because i am running longer distances than my 5k plan, my route has had to be altered…

very cool, @MeanderingMammal. i am so impressed with people who are able to race, i do not think i have it in me to go up to that level.
-
@ftrobbie - i agree, it IS complicated. so much so, that i am not entirely eager for each workout as i was with the c25k app. that seemed so straight forward. walk, run, walk . . . run. this is so convoluted. i guess i'll take a look at the zenlabs program and might also rethink the endomondo 10k program too. the good…

ugh, maybe i need a metronome. or a metronome app - as running with an actual metronome could be awkward. i ran w2d1 today (20 minute steady run). my app is requesting that i do jogs, fast runs, steady runs and tempo runs. up until now all i've done is tie my shoes and run. i haven't tried to run faster or slower (okay,…

completed w1d3 (30 minute run) outside and did well. my speed improved slightly to 10:03 min/mi but that meant the last K was especially tough. the funny thing is, i thought i was running even slower than usual today because i have a cold. i have no idea how to pace myself, unless i need to stop listening to "rock and run"…
-
tried w1d2 b210k on the treadmill this morning so i could get an idea of what a "tempo" run is. i definitely don't like the treadmill as much as i like running outdoors. it was great being able to keep a steady pace (usually i'm all over the place because i listen to music while i run) and to know i was consistently…

I'll throw in my 2C here. I wear a fitbit charge, and use a mio link heartrate monitor during my workouts. The math used to determine calorie burn relies on average hr for the exercise period, so I would think your numbers should be OK. As editor grrrr mentioned, you'll have to use it for a while to find out for sure.
-
I haven't had any issues with the prompts. I impressed you're with the sergeant, I had to keep the Constance through all of C25K because I needed someone "nice". I have switched to Billie for the 10K app, but think I'll leave Sergeant Block filed away for backup. ;)
-
I started with the active app c25k and am using the 5k to 10k app now. I am also considering one of the 10k programs with endomondo premium. :)

hello running, my old friend! it's been 12 days since i've run and let me tell you, i was scared to go out this morning. i was really worried i would compare to where i was an feel lousy with what i was able to accomplish. but i sucked it up and went for a run with the goal of completing w1d1 of the b25k program (20 minute…

Way to go, @JSC145 !!

Oh, that makes me so sad. The bright side is it won't take too long to get back to where I was. Certainly wish I hadn't given away the treadmill now!
