I achieved my 21 km goal this morning. It was deadly hot, and the last 9 km were tackled one painful km at a time. At about 12 km in I wanted to quit. I'd finished all my water and my route was taking me through patches of scorching pavement. Somehow I kept going, and didn't stop until the end. I'm feeling rather miserable…

Amazing! Well done!

Ran 19.3 km this morning. The first 12 k went as expected and then the sun kicked in around 15 k making the last 4 km grueling and my pace dropped by a minute / km. It was already 20C when I left so those rays were causing me physical damage. ;) Man, did I dig deep to finish. So glad I did. I made it further up "the hill…

Decided to torture myself with an easy 8 km run around the neighbourhood in the full sun during the hottest time of the day. :o :s :p ! It wasn't too bad, as I was able to cool off somewhat in the shady trails for about 1/3 of the distance. That's what I get for being too lazy to get up early and run. Sleeping in until 7…

@Just_Ceci, what do you think of Zombies, Run! - do you recommend it? @AglaeaC, it is definitely a mind game but I'm wholly stubborn and push past my insecurities to the distance required each week. It helps me to know I've only got one more long run to do before the final run!

i don't count warm-up/cool-down as part of the run distance.

hi @AglaeaC! i'm nervous, i think, because i'm a bit of a control freak and i have no experience with running these long distances. i worry that i'm not properly prepared: will i have enough water? do i need to eat something? can i actually DO this? i'm a stressed-out control freak. awesome. what a great running partner…

hello! it's been about a year since i've posted anything, and it's nice to see some familiar names and a bunch of new ones. i thought i'd pop in to say hi. i took a "break" from running this past winter as i didn't like getting out in our coastal, rainy weather. happily in february i started running again. around may i…

@KRPolo, so sorry for your loss. :( I've been exceptionally busy planning to sell our home and relocate to a different part of town. We've also restructured our business, and it's proven far more complicated than I ever dreamed. I haven't run in a month, and when I committed to a 5 km jog this morning I knew it was going…

i enjoy reading all the updates, but am so short of time these days i can't respond individually. your updates are what keep me motivated at the moment. i'm struggling. i have yet to find my "happy place". i really, really enjoyed the C25K structure and then the zenlabs 10K program was also right up my alley. now that i've…

i'm back long enough to say i ran a quick 5 km this morning in 28:56 - not too shabby for a girl coming out of a turkey hangover and a 10-day vacation from her running shoes!
-
instead of running i've been eating all the scrumptious treats i've been baking. it's thanksgiving weekend too, so it's either pull out the stretchy pants OR pull up my running tights! it's been 4 days since i've been out . . . the promise of winter is making me LAZY. i've been enjoying the updates, but i can't stay fit…

i went and got myself so excited about running 12 km this weekend, that i couldn't wait and ran it this morning. it was great! really, really great. i've been missing the "i could go on forever" feeling i get at around 10 kms or an hour of running. the last 2 kms were a breeze. i ran with music to help keep me from getting…

reading this makes me feel like i've taken the bus to CRAZY-TOWN. it also makes me feel instantly tired. and sore. and then tired some more. maybe a little bit dead. seriously, i had no idea things like "100 miles RUNNING" existed. sounds like wicked torture! you know i'm teasing right? it's only because my…

i had planned to go out an re-run my route from yesterday to check the distance, but i decided to run 6 km instead of the 4.6+ km i'm estimating i ran yesterday. i do use endomondo and copied my route for a good guesstimate, but i'm still curious enough to test for sure, so i'll probably give it another go in a few days.…

@moyer566 : i've just transitioned to running without music. i never thought it would be possible, but i don't find it miss it at all. @Just_Ceci : have a great run today! @Aine8046 : welcome, can't wait to read more from you! @romyhorse : way to reach your goal!!! @LLduds: your bling posts are great motivation for me! I…

Seriously! It's bugging me and it isn't even my time! Commented on your other post, but want to say again - WELL DONE!

You have done a fine job of honoring Darrel with your race. I've always found your posts inspirational and enlightening, and will probably refer back to this one specifically when dueling my own mind games while running. Way to go, @ftrobbie !

i would like to claim the title of "fair-weather runner" for our group. :p given that it wasn't raining this morning, i went out for a 8 km jog. i'm trying out two smaller runs (5 and 7/8k) and one long run (10/12k) each week. i just don't have the time for a more structured training plan, and not being able to commit has…

ceci and moyer, i admire your ability to enjoy running in the rain. i don't know if i'll ever reach that spot. does it help my case if i tell you i live in a coastal rainforest? or does that just work against me because my attitude should be adapted to match my climate? :p

my darling husband bought me a headlamp and i took it for a run tonight. i'm not sure if it was my anxiety or the novelty of running in the (spooky) dark, but i kept a steady 6 min/km pace for the entire 5k - finished just at 30 minutes! now that i know i am capable, i guess i have no excuse to not keep going out. well,…

Nice bling! Well done racing after a nasty virus. Enjoy your weekend of rest!

i am trying to figure out how to easily fit running into my day now that the sun doesn't rise until i'm standing at the bus stop with the kids and is often setting before my husband is home from work. i used to go at 6 or 6.30 in the morning and then be back in time to get my gang out the door, but now it's so dark here.…

Easy (?) 6k this evening. It felt harder than usual. Could be that I did my long run just yesterday. Could be the hill I charged up like a bear was on my heels. Could be I'm still tired from last week's return to school. Regardless, it was a challenge mentally tonight. I wanted to stop at every opportunity but pushed…

nice 10k today. first half was under 6 min/km - second half was just over 6 min/km. tried a different twist on my regular route and it had a few hilly sections. heart rate was definitely well over usual as a result and i'm feeling tired now. looking forward to an easy 6k tomorrow.

just popping in long enough to say, getting four children ready for the first week for school is harder than any run i've done to date! happily, i was able to sneak 2 interval runs in. i have a love/hate relationship with these sessions. i love the feeling of pushing myself to run faster - but hate that it's such hard…

had a brilliant run this morning! 10 km in 1h:00m:46s : best time yet! beyond the pleasure of a new pb, i was able to enjoy a run in the cool morning while the sun was rising. no rain to drench me. no wind blowing me about. i've been lazy most of august, and got in the habit of taking my runs in the evening, today confirms…

@taeliesyn : you rocked your bunny ears! @DianaLovesCoffee : congrats on completing your program!! I am reconsidering the running plan I've implemented. Because I'm trying to improve my 10K pace, I need to find long stretches of time for training. With back-to-school right around the corner, activities with the kids and a…

Weather has been brutal lately. I just don't have it in me to run outside when it's this gross. I live very close to Vancovuer, Canada. My fall & winter are wet, windy and foggy. After drought conditions all summer, someone turned on the sky-faucet and forgot to turn it off! I sucked it up and ran 5k on my treadmill last…
