Momof2kd have you considered swimming or swim fit classes? I know the thought of putting on a bathing suit is off putting, but the water exercises are really easy on the joints and it's usually all women of various sizes. I'm not sure how things are in your area, but our pools have just opened up for 1 hour sessions with…

Me too! I go with friends and often on my own. We bike on trails and drive to get to other trails for variety. The sense of freedom and being out in nature is food for the soul, as well as the calories burned. I love it! Since COVID there's been a huge increase of people biking. For me walking is too boring, I have never…

etolv I am trying to do the same thing...get out of the obese range, to overweight, then to normal, probably around 130. You've done well.

Debster634 Week 4 Weigh in day: Sat PW: 182 CW: 184 Had struggle this week with emotions. Weather, snow and cold, no sunshine, tired of family, cabin fever and annoyed with siblings that they are still visiting with 88 year old Dad as they figure they don't have the virus. Other people have actual troubles though, and I am…

Versicolour I chuckled at your book comment because it was so spot on. Not offensive. I am downloading books like a kid in a candy store and one of my extrovert friends called me this morning, telling me that this social distancing is driving her mad. I tried to be empathetic to her plight, but I don't think I managed to…

Hey Slimpossibles, Deb here. Thanks for welcoming me. I'm joining you for the April chaĺlenge. I have to admit, it makes me a bit anxious to join, as I'm not great at sticking with things. I will try though so I don't let the team down. So, I'm in my 50's and really have had a goal to lose weight FOREVER. I figured that…

Mandycat_florida I am with you on this. I love your suggestions. I've been making lists since I was a teenager. If I don't, I feel that I am aimlessly wasting days and weeks. I'm not obsessive, but Sunday mornings I make my plan for the week - things that need to be done as well as social/fun things. Somedays I may not be…

If it doesn't end up being related to your blood pressure has your doctor mentioned an inner ear issue? I know how you feel as I wake up dizzy many mornings and it's hard to enjoy regular life when you feel that way. A physiotherapist can help with the ear thing as it is a result of crystals in the inner ear causing a…

Hey Huge_Jack_ you're not alone. I think the winter defeats others, me for sure. I undo all the good of the spring and summer every winter. I do believe that SAD does play a part in this as AliceDark mentioned, and her advice and finding your own strategy will help. Winter is too long! For me, I'm determined too, not to…

This sounds reasonable - 14lbs in 10 weeks. Shall we record each week from our join date? CW Oct 12-174

I had plantar fasciitis last summer and I was recommended to get Birkenstocks. I always thought they were ugly and clunky but they really do help your feet.Make sure you buy the real ones and not the cheap knock-offs. I have a pair for inside the house and one for outside. Stretching my calf muscles by putting my feet flat…

Thanks a lot for your detailed info. I'm in Southern Ontario and love that we can get local produce in the summer. In the winter we have no choice but buy imported food. I'm trying to get our grocery bill down and will definitely use your strategies. We are 2 adults and 2 young college/university students and I spend at…

I ride just for recreation and love it. We started out as 4 women who wanted some exercise and then decided to make a weekend habit of it. We find trails all over our city and like to try different ones. Things changed somewhat when the husbands decided to join us, as the distances became longer and more important (usually…

Thanks for posting this question. I too have wanted to go to a class for a long time, but have been intimidated. Lots of good suggestions from everyone - thanks to those as well. Last time I was in the gym, I asked the girl at the counter when the least busy time was so that I could go then, but she didn't know. Part of my…

I'm with you on this. I self-sabotage all the time and punish myself by eating something loaded with calories. It's as if I'm trying to accomplish something that I don't deserve when I am on a path of exercising and eating right. Thus I'm always "starting over" on a new plan. Yikes.
