  • For me, focusing on the small changes that I know I can sustain is what's kept me going. I'm always fiddling with some recipe, tweaking some process, and just thinking, "If everyday were like today, which I can live with, I will be 100 lbs lighter by my birthday (May 2016)!" I had to approach this whole process as changing…
  • Not bad at any age. I can't even imagine skating! God love ya, girl! LOL
  • My goal for the week... drink a hot lemon water each morning. For some great reasons why this is a good thing, check out what Shape magazine has to say about it. shape.com/healthy-eating/diet-tips/4-reasons-drink-hot-lemon-water-every-morning?utm_source=fitsugar.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pubexchange_module
  • I agree, this challenge really opened my eyes to how often I don't come close to the fiber I SHOULD be eating. I looked back and I'm usually in the 13-15 range of my 25. I need to up my veggies and/or beans, that'll help, and I like both so laziness is my only excuse for not having already topped out on these things. I…
  • That's a great way to look at it! I always see that visual representation of a pound of fat, that blob of jaundice yellow looking goo... I also like picking up a 5lb bag of sugar to remind myself exactly how much weight that number represents! If you want to have fun, put that 5lb bag of sugar in a bag and carry it around…
  • In case anyone is wondering, a half cup of black beans contains 7 grams of fiber! Who knew??!!!
  • Woo hoo! 23 out of 25 grams of fiber today!! Yeah yeah, it's Friday, but still!! As for the kegels, I have one set left to do, but they'll have to wait until tomorrow because I swear my "kegel muscles" are POOPED! Who knew those things could be so exhausting!! LOL
  • WOOT! WOOT!!! That's awesome!!
  • I love smoothies, but they just don't fill me up the way chewing a solid does. Maybe it's mental..??? I do like the blender with travel mugs/bottles, and I WANT one! I may not get full on smoothies, but I still love them and will trade some of my solid food calories for one. I've been making a really good smoothie with…
  • I have an off-plan day every week. Now off-plan, when I started this journey, meant I could eat whatever I wanted. The first two times I did this I had the worst stomach ache/upset EVER, so I toned it down to "you can enjoy one meal of non-plan type foods, meaning I could eat processed or sweet foods. This worked for about…
  • Kegels were done on the drive into work today, and they're not half as easy as I thought they'd be! By #20 I was thinking, "Sweet baby Jesus, don't let me get a muscle cramp!" LMAO As for the fiber, I'm not doing so hot. I've hit 13 grams for 2 days now... :( Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow. Idea for next week... seated…
  • Welcome to all the new folks and a HUGE congrats @melkithall !!! That's fantastic! For all of you starting just keep in mind that this is a journey. I've seen a quote in a few places this week that says (I'm paraphrasing here), 'whether you make progress or stand still, time will still pass.' I'm putting it on my…
  • For anyone interested in figuring out calorie burns from different activities, this calculator uses all your pertinent info... age, weight, height... It's the best estimator I've found. healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc
  • Wow, awesome job!! That's fantastic!!
  • I felt the same way. I felt like I could breathe just a little easier and like my clothes were just a hair looser, but most of all, I felt like I had accomplished something just by sticking with it. That's my number one goal every single week, to eat like I should from at least Monday to Friday. I can tell you with…
  • Thanks Shirayne! I'm on a cloud right now. I tried to be conservative in my mini goals so I wasn't set to hit this weight til the end of May! (Memorial day to be exact!) I'm not going to change up my goals in case the weight loss slows, which we all know it will, but I still feel super motivated! As for the kegels, I'm all…
  • Thank you, ladies! It was just what I needed going into this new month. @ptkat28 Girl, take the 4lbs and RUN with it! That shift is almost definitely water weight and will probably fall right off by morning.
  • Guess who was super successful this last month!!!
  • Weighed in... **drum roll please!** I lost 16 pounds in the last month! I could do a happy dance!! I celebrated by getting on the treadmill and walking for 2 minutes then running for 45 seconds and did it for 15 minutes! I'm super proud of myself! Now I need water! Be back later!
  • @bregalad5 that's awesome! Definitely a relief, I'm sure! @Hippychick5983 CONGRATS!!!! That's awesome! I need to start a small scale goal. Today is my first weight in since I started last month, so hopefully we can celebrate together!!
  • oh, and almost forgot, a handful of chopped cilantro!
  • Mmmm guacamole is my FAVORITE food! I make it all kinds of ways, but to bulk it up now that I'm eating healthy AND watching calories, I mix in a couple of spoons full of fat free cottage cheese. It adds protein, doesn't change the flavor, and gives you MORE (always a plus in my book). I make it with chopped onion, chopped…
  • Wish me luck, folks. Today is my birthday celebration and I'm going to make a concerted effort to stay under 2000 calories, though there are no restrictions on what I eat. Let's see if I can make this happen! Have a great weekend everyone!
  • That's pretty funny! I got in trouble for my "wise guy" comments. [/quote] Oh, I got in trouble... but he recognized in me exactly what existed in him! He was as bad as I was, so while he was irritated he was also amused...LOL Luckily my sense of humor has kept me from wallowing in self-pity over my weight. It really is a…
  • I wanted to note, for anyone who wants the info, that Nature's Harvest Whole Wheat light bread (2 slices) is 5 grams of fiber (80 calories), 1/2 a hass avocado is 5 grams of fiber (150 calories), and 1.5 cups of broccoli and cauliflower is 6 grams of fiber (approx. 75 calories). I know these off the top of my head because…
  • Wow, hit the post button accidentally before I even finished commenting! LOL I got biceps in and I agree with prof_newme, this has DEFINITELY helped me get fruits and veggies in! I get really lazy about both though they're super easy and so low in calories!
  • I think plum is purple...
  • Those similes seems way funnier when you quoted them than when I wrote them! LOL Thank you. I've always seem my comments as humor, but when I was little my dad use to tell me that it was my bad luck that "smart *kitten*" wasn't a profession or I would have taken the world by storm! LOL Good luck on your meeting! You'll do…
  • I think you've done a fantastic job, and my favorite part of you're whole profile is the one about stopping the BS... that is SO damn true! Great work!!
