  • This-I'm having one for lunch today but I'll prep it by coating it in evoo and salt, bake until skin is crispy, and then top it with seasoned ground beef, cheese, diced onion and tomato, broccoli, salsa and hot sauce. Pure awesomeness :# Calorie wise it won't be too bad and it's my main meal of the day-will be incredibly…
  • Who told you that you needed to do this?
  • Save yourself a lot of wasted time and frustration and just do simple calories in, calories out while still eating the foods you like. No need to make this whole thing more complicated than it needs to be.
  • I actually started experimenting with a lower carb woe last week (aiming for around 100 grams a day). My diary is open if you want to take a look. Several days I went totally grain free and then I've just reintroduced limited grains back in. Two things I've noticed-the low carb foods I've been eating have been ridiculously…
  • I did alternate day Intermittent Fasting....which is just a fancy way of doing CICO :)
  • My current goal: to continue being a part of the very small percentage of people who successfully maintain long term. Two years down, around 50 more years to go :)
  • For me it did. My original goal weight was 135lbs. I ended up setting my final maintenace range to 120lbs-125lbs. The last few pounds went a long way for body composition :)
  • This. I've had three kids and the biggest thing for me has been getting my weight and bf% low enough (low end of the healthy range for bmi). Second thing is it does take time for your body to get itself sorted out after a pregnancy. My youngest is almost 7yrs old :)
  • This. At this point you should be working on transitioning into maintenance and adjusting your calories up to a .5lb a week loss. Also remember-you will have a maintenance range, not a specific maintenance weight. Most people chose a range of 3-5lbs. With you being so close to your goal weight it's really time to shift…
  • Lost the weight that way and have been successfully maintaining the loss. Now, I'm starting to go in a different direction with how I eat, but it's not related to my weight. CICO met me where I was at and it got the job done. Now I'm going a bit deeper with my food choices/have different goals now, but I have no regrets at…
  • I was almost 60lbs overweight and frankly, I didn't care. Rest of my relatives are/were overweight and obese, and I thought that was just my fate in life. I'd also had three kids, and there was a bit of a mental entitlement, because I had 'earned' the right to be at that point (I used to joke about my 'mom jeans' with…
  • I actually just finished reading Grain Brain yesterday and the thing I got from it was that I needed to get serious about starting a high dose D3 vitamin because I know from blood work that I'm deficient. Everything else in the book-not so convincing that gluten is evil. I didn't think he did a very good job of presenting…
  • Take some time and figure out what resources you have around you, and think outside the box :) For example-a Dollar Tree near me recently started selling frozen foods and I can get nice sized bags of frozen fruit and veggies there for $1 each (nothing added either). So random, but it's saving me a lot of money right now,…
  • I'm 5ft 6in and this morning I was at 121lbs (I'm in maintenance.) This puts my bmi at 19.5 and going any lower than that I start to look sickly. I did get to a bmi of 18.9 when I was transitioning into maintenance, which is what your goal weight would put you at, and I looked pretty rough at that marker. When you get to a…
  • I have my meal sections re-named to fit my eating habits better, and yes I log my tea in the right sections, because I add a splenda/sugar mix and it looks funny if I just have random 1/2tsps of sugar on my diary lol. I don't log my regular water though.
  • Yes, yes, yes, yes. And another yes!
  • So far today- oats, cooked in water, with brown sugar stir fry with pork tenderloin, frozen and fresh veggies/mushrooms, olive oil and soy sauce. Cantaloupe Supper will be a baked potato (baked with olive oil), topped with seasoned ground beef, veggies, cheese and salsa-it's a surprisingly good combo! And then maybe some…
  • So much awesome in this post. Seriously better than FB. It sounds like OP is regretting how she's used some of her calories today (we've probably all been there), and is directing this frustration towards her mom. My husband's been in that spot before too, with his suggestions of our favorite restaurant after I'd already…
  • My initial test I did 5 and I thought I was going to die lol. It's crazy how far you progress in just a few weeks! And yeah-make sure to take the rest days, you definitely need them :) eta: while I finished the challenge-for the final test I did take a few mini-breaks, of a few seconds each to catch my breath, so not…
  • Wow, I didn't know that! I eat a lot of baked sweet potatoes. I used to nuke them, but that's probably no better :*
  • Just eat smaller portions of the real stuff.
  • How big is your flax seed bag? I can get a pound of ground flax seed for around $4 at Meijer-you may be able to find a better deal someplace else, maybe Amazon? Same with chia seeds-I pay around $8 for these. eta: if you're in the states check out Amazon-you can get Bobs Red Mill Chia seeds 4-pack for $37.39. That's for 4…
  • This. I normally break my daily fast at around 11am because that's what works best for me. On the other hand one of my kids has to eat something as soon as he wakes up at 6am. When I do break fast I usually do something higher protein, which keeps me feeling full for a long time.
  • First of all-why not start right now, today? There's nothing magical about Monday for weight loss (I started on a Wednesday afternoon and that turned out pretty well for me :) ). Second-weight loss is about calories and math. You don't have to cut out a bunch of stuff that you enjoy eating, just reduce portion sizes (pay…
  • Love Aldi and it's my go to grocery store :p
  • Family of 5 here and our weekly grocery budget is $90/$360 a month. That includes packed school lunches. It does not however include my husband's lunches (he eats out on the road), or family eating out usually 1-2 times a week (pizza etc). It does include non-food stuff like tp, cleaning supplies etc. eta: I do get all the…
  • You keep doing what you think you need to do and I'll keep doing what I've been doing, since its been working pretty well for me ;)
  • For me it's been 80% mindset, 20% calories and math. Everything fell into place after I figured that out, and it's still true now that I'm in maintenance. So, if I had to put a label this whole thing it would be weight loss/maintenance is a mind game that you have to win. And fries and mayo are a lovely combination btw ;)
  • I also drink 6-8 glasses of water a day that I don't record :) No problems with eating and drinking-I do follow 16:8IF and only eat from 11am-7pm usually (not super strict about it, but that's what most of my days look like). I drink a lot of fluids in the morning and at night, after my eating window closes. This is…
  • My profile picture was taken yesterday. Yesterday I also drank 3 cans of diet coke and 1-20 ounce bottle of diet Mt. Dew. The previous day I drank 1 can of diet Pepsi, 1-20 ounce of diet Mt. Dew and one can of diet coke. So, yeah. But, maybe on my 65th birthday horrible things will happen. Or, maybe not.
