Solid post, agree with everything you said. At the end of the day weight loss does come down to those pesky calories/following an appropriate calorie deficit. But there's different ways to approach that, and if eating lower carbs helps someone then I say good for them, for finding what works for them. Heck, I did alternate…

Weight loss is about eating at a calorie deficit. Everything else is secondary. Getting accurate with tracking your calorie intake is the best place to start so you're on the right track :) Also, a food scale is a great tool to help with this, if you're not already using one.

Yes-I did alternate day IF for my weight loss phase, 5:2IF for the transition period between weight loss and maintenance and then I now do 16:8IF as part of my maintenance plan.

This is what we've discovered with my daughter. She can eat a bit of dairy and be fine-takes some trial and error to figure out the threshold though. But we've also found out that my daughter cannot have straight up dairy milk anymore, even with two pills. Ice cream is another one she has to take 2 pills with, and even…

One of my kids is lactose intolerant and a close relative has a full blown dairy allergy. For my daughter-some cheeses don't bother her. She can have American cheese fine, for example. Other kinds she can have with a dairy pill and not have any issues. For my relative-she's just eliminated cheese from her diet because the…

Just put a library hold on it, thanks OP! I'll read it after I get through my other library hold, Thin for Life :)

I'm a D. -not overweight anymore and I'm happy. I was a pretty happy person before losing the weight too, but now I'm happy-healthy, because the weight loss corrected a major health issue for me (high glucose number).

I usually break my daily fast around noon with my biggest meal, usually 800-1,000 calories. Like others have said, meal timing is a preference thing.

I went from being a pre-diabetic, to having normal fasting glucose numbers, and I did it by losing weight. Simple as that. I've never tracked sugar nor have I cut anything out of my diet that I enjoy eating. I'm in fantastic health now, and I eat foods that contain both added and natural occurring sugars. I focus on CICO…

I already posted on your other thread about sugar, but I used to be a pre-diabetic and my doctor told me to lose weight, and said nothing about cutting back on sugar to improve my glucose numbers. Followed his advice, started eating at a calorie deficit, continued to eat all the foods I enjoyed, did not cut anything out…

Weight loss is about eating at an appropriate calorie deficit. Everything else is secondary. Personally, I didn't start paying attention to macros till a few weeks ago, and I've been in maintenance for two years now :p

I think you're projecting a bit here. My husband has no clue, or interest in his body fat percentage. The reason why he dropped a few pounds recently is because weight/health stats are now tied to our health insurance, and we're fined if our numbers aren't what they want them to be. We were being penalized $500 a year…

Aw thanks o:)

Did alternate day IF for weight loss, 5:2IF for the transition period between weight loss and maintenance, and I'm now doing 16:8IF as part of my maintenance plan. I <3 IF and will probably always do it in some form.

I'm assuming you mean the National Weight Control Registry? Yes, I just turned in my first survey a few days ago :) First I had to fill out a basic info packet (name, address etc etc). Then a couple weeks after I mailed that in, I got an email with a link to my first annual survey. It took about 30-40 minutes to complete…

What are you basing this assumption on? I certainly don't have an interest in a six pack and I'm betting there's a lot of people here who are the same way. I did lose the weight for health reasons. If you read my response to the OP's question I answered no longer a pre-diabetic and improved blood panels/health first. For…

You're confusing blending with juicing. A juicer removes the fiber, a blender does not. And unless you have a medical issue, like you do with T2, sugar isn't a big deal, processed or natural.

Aw, thanks :)

I just posted in the other thread, but I didn't notice a weight gain/loss while on/coming off the pill. However, I did develop a blood clot from it, and I wouldn't wish that nightmare on my worst enemy. Scariest thing that's ever happened to me. Clots are a common side affect with bc pills, and that's a way more serious…

Don't know about Mirena, but I was on the pill and had a very scary incident with a blood clot because of it (both the ER doctors and and my doctor believe it was the pill that caused it). I didn't notice a weight gain/loss from being on it/stopping it though.

Family of 5 here on a grocery budget of $90 a week. I third Aldi if you have one around you-that store is seriously awesome :) Also look into bread outlets, dollar stores that carry food (I can get frozen fruit and veggies at my local Dollar Tree, along with tea, spices etc etc). Also Upick farms are great (flash freeze…

This. I have absolutely no idea what the OP is going on about :*
-
Great post, agree with all the names mentioned :)
-
This-I'm looking at those pictures and they're making my stomach turn :* I've never heard of this before, maybe it's a regional thing?
-
Yep, pretty much this :)
-
Yep, I've never tracked or paid attention to my sugar intake. It hasn't hindered my success at all :)
-
I did alternate day IF for my active weight loss phase, I did 5:2IF for the transition period between weight loss and maintenance (still lost at a slower rate during this time), and now I do 16:8IF for maintenance. I <3 IF. My mom is currently doing 5:2IF for her weight loss phase and she's doing really well with it so far.

And Op is gone...

Thing is, I didn't sacrifice anything to be successful Sure I cut back on the amount of food I ate, to create an appropriate deficit, but I wouldn't consider that sacrificing because I still eat everything I enjoy-just a bit less of it. Doing it that way makes this whole thing a lot more sustainable for the long term.
