I am just 5 days short of a full year into my weight loss and down 101 lbs. No exercise, just calorie deficit. I still have a long way to go and I may add some exercise soon but I am not looking forward to it. I know it's not a great attitude but it's honest.

Fabulous job! Thanks for posting those pics. You are such a great inspiration for others.

I started out at 294 lbs or as I like to put it, a pie shy of 300 lbs. I'm a 59 year old female and only 5'2" so that was a lot of weight on a small frame. I just hit "one"derland last Sunday and it nearly brought me to tears. Before I started using MFP I was literally waiting to die and honestly, I was okay with that…

I'm glad that you are finding what works best for you because everyone is different and there are no set "rules". I find it very beneficial to make sure that I drink plenty of water every day but I hate exercise. I know the health benefits but because I have never found an exercise program that I don't detest, I refrain…

Very, very good job! I have lost 95 lbs over the past 9 months but I want to tell you about my son - he was my inspiration. He lost over 250 lbs but had a lot of extra skin that sagged and bagged. He had it surgically removed this past June. He had both his stomach and his chest done at the same time and he had never…

Fantastic! Way to go!

I am almost 60 years old and believe me, I have lost weight many times over the course of my life by using various diets or programs. I've had some great successes but always gained it back quickly plus more pounds each time. We all probably know that routine. I would like to say that this time my head was in the right…

To Butterbunch, You are truly amazing and inspirational. Congrats and thank you for your grace while responding to some of these skeptics. To the haters, What the heck is wrong with you people? I seriously think you need to take a look at your own issues. I bet most of the people using MFP have used other weight loss…

Good job hanging in there through "the hills". I'm sure the view from the valley is breathtaking. It sure helps remind us all to not get discouraged and quit.

I feel better in countless ways now that I have dropped 91 lbs this past 8 months. I'm over half-way to goal, although I still have a long way to go, but the changes have been extreme. Before I started with MFP I was 59 years old and waiting to die. I would get winded just walking from one end of my house to the other and…

I hate exercise. I know it would be good for me but I hate it and I have lost weight without breaking a sweat even once. Will I choose to exercise in the future? Probably. I have lost 91 lbs since April and I feel fabulous.

By now, you have heard that weight loss is subjective to many factors, so I will just say what I have lost. I lost about 70 lbs in the first 6 months. It's been 8 1/2 months now and I am down 88 lbs. I did this by faithfully logging my food. I have not begun any exercise program yet but I am certainly more active now that…

You are a very gifted writer and I know that you will inspire so very many people - myself included. Congratulations on your weight loss and thank you so much for sharing your journey.

I am so happy for you. Depression is a horrible disease that sucks you into a hole so deep that you can't see the light and I am no stranger to it. A few years ago my morbidly obese son was so deep in depression that he was hospitalized. A lot has happened in his life since then but the main difference in his life is that…

Very good job indeed!

Super job! You look great but I bet you feel even better. What you have accomplished is beyond life changing...it's life saving. Keep up the good work!

My son lost about 260 pounds using MFP and quite a few people have asked for his help. He has showed them how to use MFP but he found that all they really wanted to do was whine about how "bad" they were last night at dinner. Some wanted him to tell them exactly what he ate each day. He tried to explain that they could eat…

I don't post very often but I read many of the inspiring postings from others - usually, as I sit at my desk and eat lunch. It gives me a little morale boost every day. I have been using MFP for 8 months now, almost to the day, and have lost 85 pounds. I can't even begin to list all the great changes I have experienced so…

You are doing great. You look really good and I'm sure you feel healthier and happier. Keep it up and thanks for sharing your progress.

I am turning 60 in February. I started out typing that I am 59, which is true, but I figured I better get used to the look and feel of the new number. I have had a weight issue since puberty and have had some really good success with different weight loss programs in the distant past but always put the weight back on plus…

Wow, great job! I bet you feel wonderful. Enjoy the new you - you sure earned it.

flitterfoot, that's great news! As much as I hate taking pills of any sort, I think I would opt for some stool softener pills rather than spend the calories on orange juice. But that's me - I just hate drinking calories. Nothing wrong with orange juice or your choice. The good news is that your overall health is good. I…

PocketAces, I didn't mean to be insensitive. I have been divorced for so long that I forgot how hard it was in the beginning and how much it hurt. I truly apologize for being so glib about your partner leaving.

Oh yeah, there are certainly a lot of fat haters out there, not that I know your ex-wife. :) I admit that I hate being in public but truly - I can't control other people. What I do, is try and make eye contact with everyone and smile. I have found that simply because I look friendly, quite often, people will exchange a few…

I totally agree with all these great postings. I think that it's much more about personality than body. If we are happy and outgoing then we draw people to us. Then people can actually get to know us beyond the physical. Of course we also have to be willing to open ourselves up to being vulnerable. From my own experience…

Yeah, it can be done. My son quit smoking while he did his weight loss. I on the other hand, have not been that brave - at least not yet. It makes sense if your focus is going to be "getting healthy".

I have found the same thing - spending less on groceries - and time spent at the store also. I don't have to up and down all the aisles. I just hit the fruits, veggies and meat which are always located at the edges and all the processed stuff is in the middle. I am sending you all my best wishes for the outcome of your…

Aces, your back!! It's so good to see you back again. We were concerned about you. I also wanted an opportunity to thank you. You are the reason that I started to communicate and it's been very helpful for me so, THANK YOU! I'm sorry you have had a stressful time lately but don't disappear because that's what we are hear…

Thanks for all the good advice. I'm going to give this a little time. She came in on Monday and said that she ate more over the weekend. Her son is giving her some feedback about how little she has been consuming. She also told me that she downloaded the MFP app for her phone so I think she is moving in the right…

I remember how hard it was to find time for yourself when your children are younger. I also remember how it sometimes felt like everyone was always needing/demanding your attention. It's not easy. I think that makes it even more important that we feel good about ourselves. That will affect our overall mood and that will…
