Thanks, @Cahgetsfit that's all useful to know!

I should point out I'm not genetically Asian. My mother and 2 generations above her lived/worked in China. Thanks very much, everyone! Very interesting, @Fuzzipeg ! I was thinking that the studies that show genetic types who are lactose intolerant might be based on international aid groups introducing dairy foods to people…

I think a few in this thread like indoor rowing.

Bumping this awesome thread's OP. Re the last sentence, if you don't follow LCHF/Keto etc, you can ignore or increase the MFP sugar allowance. One less thing to worry about. Instead, eating according to your calorie limit and eating the foods that provide satisfaction and sustainability are #1 for many. Here's a balanced…

Been learning bits about evolutionary psychology. As well as leptin and ghrelin, other hormones seem to affect hunger. e.g. women need more energy intake during certain times in a cycle. (re Lyle McDonald.) PMS is worse if you're not eating enough. Running and exercise help with stress and burning off our fight/flight…

I'm going to post this link since I can't find it in here, and it's fantastic and sums up a lot that's said in this thread. Leptin, ghrelin, and weight loss. Here's what the research has to say. By Helen Kollias, Ph.D. https://www.precisionnutrition.com/leptin-ghrelin-weight-loss Not sure about their coaching program, but…

Hahaha, that's all so great. I have had a plan/goal to do the Athens Authentic Marathon in a year or two. I've been doing Greek lessons on Duolingo for a year. However, I'm not so sure I want to add such a huge flight to my carbon footprint now. But I'm still loving the lessons. I love your goal of trying to get better,…

What are you guys waiting for? If you think less income is stopping you, I actually have more time to do meal-prepping for my work lunches, and more cleaning without hating it. Even before getting fit, I rarely got sick. I used to hate those seemingly-perfect *kitten* who do meal-prepping! Let me talk you into it.…

@dewd2  @middlehaitch  @Machka9  We've all been successful, and we know part of achieving goals is setting SMART goals and not being ashamed to alter them in order to maintain all-round health. In fitness and exercise, our goal-setting also needs training. I was starting to dislike seeing this thread…

@pjwrt Don't blame yourself. Just need appropriate clothes.

I always have Fridays off. I just only ever take the Mon-Thurs off which gives me 10 days.

Hello lovely people! 2019 goals progress? Ha! Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. However, I've still been getting outdoors, travelling, running, keeping strong, and keeping my flexibility and balance. Longest run has been a 30 km run in January. Then 7 runs over 21 km by the end of June. But longest run since June is a 17 km…

Ha! Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. However, I've still been getting outdoors, travelling, running, keeping strong, and keeping my flexibility and balance. Had a lot of work stress which meant easing up on the big distances. Amazing how many calories stress will burn!! (Been logging All The Data 4.5 years.) I'm really proud…

Welcome, @healingnurtrer ! I may have started this thread doing All The Things. Relaxation - That's the plan. Exercise - Good. Alcohol usage - None. Creativity - Great. Home - Great. Work - On stress leave. Eating in moderation - Great. Learning - Great. Life! - Overall opinion from others is "very mindful". Had a…

Love that, @Machka9  This is me too, @jenilla1 for a few months. Apparently you have to be a crazy person to ask for a pay rise. Decided this week to take 2 weeks leave from work. Haven't had more than 10 days off work in a row since 2004. Have also opted out of two volunteer leadership roles for now. Just wanting…

Fear and/or quick assumptions are more energy-efficient than thinking slowly when faced with a lion on the savannah. Fear is not much help if you endlessly want to prove a negative. Thinking slowly about nutrition can lead to better results. Actually, today the WHO recommended more information on nutrition in health…

@donnadee1984 Hi! How are you? Here are some pics. I had fun with making sure I wore the same or similar outfits when taking them. 6 months progress pic: At goal weight: And hahaha, I'll post this video from March 2019 for all those who think their before or after stomachs are supposed to look like 1990s supermodel…

I was in a house with someone for a few weeks who was on a ~800 calorie diet under medical supervision. They were on a "diet break" at the time. They ate high calorie "junk food" (either takeaway or that is easy to cook at home) for every meal and lots of high calorie snacks. They had midnight snacks of tater tots / potato…

People drinking diet drinks are likely trying to lose weight or eat less calories. As has been already mentioned, the correlation is there because of the causes of death. They would be at risk of circulatory diseases because of obesity. They would be at risk of digestive diseases due to obesity from high intake of food…

@Lindyloo54321 Hi, nice to meet you! :) It's funny, it takes us soooo long to process things we read. You've read my post, but you still wonder if you should eat back exercise calories. And I said, it also took ME months to eat back exercise calories, even though I knew I should and had read it often enough. We forget that…

@sarabellem0 Thank you! It's very nice of you to comment. I see you joined nearly a year ago. What are you working on weight-wise at the moment? Any recent insights for you?
-
As I said, I knew my current moving average weight would drop after I stopped being on the anti-inflammatory drugs. :) It's peaceful to be able to be fine with weight changing even when you're eating at maintenance, and understanding that it's not fat.
-
"Hip problem" refers to bones and joints in everyday language. If you'd explain what type of hip problem it is, we might not feel so much in opposition.
-
You don't say, "I'm putting a bandaid on to heal my headache". I'd like to just remind everyone that you said: The massage isn't to heal your muscles, the problem is with your hip. The whole point is that massage doesn't heal muscles, and everything you've said proved my point.
-
The solution to proper diagnosis and care is both accuracy in terminology AND correct treatment. Your physio isn't telling you the foam rolling is healing the muscle. They said, it will "increase my range of motion", i.e. what we've been saying about joint mobility. Likewise (though irrelevant to the body of the…

Thanks! Not long after I started in 2015, I started reading in the maintenance section. It's been very helpful.

Hi, love your thread. Here's some pics from the app I've been logging daily in since April 2015. It's an app called Happy Scale. A typical month of weight loss, October 2015: See all the days it looked like it was "going up"? The line on the picture shows the moving average. This is what we often don't see that means we…

That's trying to make it about the muscle again when nothing happened to change the muscle. I've seen too many runners seriously depressed from not running due to injuries because they talk about sore muscles and spend money on stretching routines and massage, when the cause and treatment ends up being unrelated to the…
