  • @_nikkiwolf_ Oh god. Now I want an eclair too. XD @greenolivetree Let us know how your early morning run went! I've run at 6:30 before, but the weather's supposed to clear up next week and it may get pretty hot at some point, so I may have to switch to running earlier too... It was raining heavily this morning and I did…
  • I'll have some. I do love eclairs. <3 I'm still kind of tired and out of motivation after Sunday (the 8K was my longest run so far), but the weather is great right now and you guys are making me want to get out there. I think I'll schedule a run for tomorrow morning.
  • I started running this year and I do 5K runs now. :) I'll join!
  • Went to my first (tiny) running event yesterday - it was a charity run where people basically ran 1km laps to get donations from a sponsor (i.e. the local gym, lol). I'd been hoping to run 5K during the event, but I'd underestimated the motivation that comes from running with others. I did 7K, then went for my post-run…
  • Mine has been acting up for days too.
  • As expected, I didn't get around to running for a whole week, ugh. I'll have to run more often for the rest of the month!
  • I had to think about this month's goal for a while since a) there's been some flooding here in southern Germany and my regular running path is closed, b) I'm going away for a few days this week, and c) I don't want to risk setting a goal I can't reach. Still, I passed my May goal by several km, so I'm going for 35km this…
  • Ugh, the endless rain and the river finally got what they wanted - all the decent running paths are flooded. :/
  • 4.5 km today. I'm not planning on increasing my distance beyond 5km at this point - maintaining good form over 5km is more important to me right now.
  • Congrats on finding the energy to run after all! I have to say I cannot run without caffeine though - I run first thing in the morning and have to have my first cup of coffee first! ;)
  • 5K! Finally!
  • I ran 4km today! It was actually really difficult and I'll be feeling my legs and back tomorrow, but I think I'll be able to run that 5K soon!
  • I have the waist thing due to scoliosis and never noticed it pre-weight loss. Have you ever had a doctor look at your spine (and potential orthopedic issues in general)?
  • @7lenny7 Congrats and thanks for the fantastic report! It was cold and rainy this morning, but I decided to go for my run anyway. My HR was a lot better today (probably because there was no way for me to get very hot...) with most of my run spent in cardio rather than peak zone (according to my fitbit). Let's see…
  • @WhatMeRunning NOOOOO! I hope you'll be fine!
  • Reading about people being "ahead of schedule", I realized that I'm at 50% of my goal, then thought "oh, I'll be ahead of schedule before the end of the week too", then remembered that I don't have another run scheduled for this week, panicked and pulled out my calendar to check if I can't maybe squeeze in another run. I…
  • Ankle hurts a little after this morning's run - I hope that'll clear up by itself. My heart rate is also still pretty high (167 avg on today's run) although I'm learning to run slowly and not get out of breath. It has been always been volatile though and my last ECG was fine. The HR discussion a few pages back…
  • I finally managed to increase my distance this morning! Slowing down is super difficult, but I ran 3.5 km without too much breathlessness. That 5K is going to happen sooner or later. My heart rate is still a work in progress though... ;)
  • @CariTJR I'm so sorry!
  • Thank you so much - those are very interesting. I'm definitely running at more than 60% of my max heart rate. I have a fitbit charge hr, which is usually quite accurate for me, and I had my suspicions regarding my heart rate graphs. I guess I need to find ways to slow down if I want to increase my distance.
  • @kristinegift Just read your report - I do hope you realise that baby runners like me are still IN AWE of your marathon, even if it wasn't your best one ever. Congrats!
  • I'll give it a go! ;) I actually love my subject and may end up doing a PhD, but some days, I just need to get away. By the way, can anyone give me an idea of what a "slow"/beginner's running pace might be? I feel like I'm really slow (which is fine with me, no rush), but I still get out of breath towards the end. I run…
  • Gorgeous weather today and a good first run! I wanted to do 3km but didn't feel like it was a good idea, maybe because I've just recovered from a stomach bug. Maybe next time!
  • That's a tough one. Lifting or taking a long walk often take my mind off of food in those cases. A protein bar or cottage cheese also help me sometimes. But there are always cases in which a chocolate binge is the only way. XD
  • Dear people embarrassed about their "low" goals - I joined last month with a goal of 10km, lol. I made it to 13km, so I'm back and setting myself the super ambitious goal of 25km! I'm in the planning stages of my MA thesis and I'm going to need ways to relax and get away from my desk, plus there's a mini-race in…
  • In my experience, that can happen in the first few weeks. It should get better soon. :)
  • I make poached eggs, then melt cheddar cheese on them and eat them with a handful of walnuts. It came about as an attempt to cobble together a high-protein lunch from whatever was left in the fridge and I ended up really liking it. :-)
