Most of the people at the gym are more concerned with what they're doing than with what you're doing. Ignore them and just get what you need done. Put in some earbuds and make a great playlist and go to town. If you're uncomfortable using some of the machines I would recommend seeing if you can do a training session or two…

5'7" HW: 296 CW: 176 GW: 160 I have a feeling from where I am now that after I get to 160 I will want to lower that a bit. I think my sweet spot will be around 150 but I'm really not sure because I haven't weighed under what I am now since I passed it in High School. My base calories are 1200 a day. I work out 6-7 times a…

Keep it going, guys! You're an inspiration :)

She is your therapist, you are not hers. As terrible as it is, if you feel like you can't talk to her about everything anymore, you need to find another therapist.

It really does! I've lost another 6 pounds and a bit since I posted this and still feel the same way. Loving it.

First of all "a beer or two with friends" isn't necessarily self-sabotage. For me, being social and being able to hang out with family and friends and not be sad in the corner munching on carrot sticks is a huge deal. Which is why this time, for the first time, I'm looking at this as a lifestyle change, not a diet. 90% of…

Depends on what the craving is. In all honesty, if I'm still craving it after 40 minutes and after I've drank a lot of water, I try to find the best option to serve that craving (salty, sweet etc).

Great thread! The biggest one for me has been that I don't have "cheat" days anymore. When I go out and have a burger or tater tots or pizza or some decadent dessert it isn't a "cheat", it's a "treat". Even if it ends up putting me slightly over my calories I have come to realize that there is such negative connotations…

Wow. That is NOT ok. Sorry I don't have any other advice for you but I'd try havalynd's advice.

I know what you mean! 2 friends have recently told me that I have inspired them to get back into shape. It's a heady feeling and nice to know you have friends to talk to about the fitness/nutrition stuff when you want since they're doing it too!
-
If it's a lifestyle change stop thinking of it as "cheating". You had a day where you went over your count. Consider it a treat day, pick yourself up and stay under your goals tomorrow.

You CAN do it. It's hard. It's work. It's a pain in the freaking butt until you get into a rhythm. Cravings will happen. You'll have bad days. But you can absolutely do this. Start small. Log all your food, even if it goes over your limit. Start walking a little more each day if you can. Make mini goals (5lbs...10lbs...15)…

There are numerous threads already dedicated to this. Try a search and you'll find great ones!

What's your initial starting weight at? If you put your initial weight in as 180 for example and then stopped using or logging it keeps it at 180. Then if you start up again and log your weight is 183 to start, it says you've lost 0lbs until you hit below 180. The only way to fix it that I know of is to go back and adjust…

Echoing what others are saying. I did tradeshows and conferences for years (event planning) and found the following tips definitely helped: 1. Use the fitness center or go for a walk/run outside if that's your thing 2. Most meals will have a salad option, try to go for that and deconstruct your sandwiches over it (take out…

Almost every night I have dessert. I save 100 or so calories and either have some chocolate (put in the freezer to make it last longer when I eat it!), the 100 calorie Healthy Choice fudge bars, or some peanut butter. It helps me avoid wanting to binge!

Not a stupid question at all. I actually bring the avacado whole and cut it when I'm ready to eat. Then I leave the pit in one side and wrap it in plastic wrap making sure the wrap is tight around the pit and touching the flesh before putting it in the fridge. That actually was the half from yesterday-stays pretty green…

I absolutely cannot eat gluten and there is plenty out there for me to eat so there's hope! The tipping point for me was buying a food scale. $25 at Target and it was the best choice I could have made. Even when you see serving sizes on the side of pre packaged meals "22 crisps" or "about 8" those are usually wrong and can…

I've been doing like a tbsp of balsamic dressing. I toss it with my lettuce mix in a bag before I put it on the plate so I end up using less--and everything else is usually chock full of flavor (chicken or shrimp being my favorite toppers) so it's worked out really well so far. Have to try salsa dressing though, that…

Had difficulty finding a full body picture but that was from New Years Eve so 6 months ago. I didn't start MFP or my latest journey until the April so this is 57 days in or so and minus 18lbs! Today I fit into a pair of size 8s (vanity 8s, but still!) that I was sure I wouldn't be able to wear yet! Can't wait to be able to…

I have a wedding in Thailand end of next March... I will have been a year on my journey by then so I'm hoping to have been maintaining a couple months by that point! I have 19 to my first goal and then probably another 10 or so!

I did this one in April and I cannot recommend it enough. There are 5 types so it's a circuit training type thing and it's really doable and has a breakdown of each squat and how to do it. http://www.popsugar.com/fitness/30-Day-Squat-Challenge-30806625

I got up this morning and it was raining... none of my old jeans fit (too big!) so I decided to dig out an old pair of Ann Taylor Modern Fit Curvy jeans from my elimination diet diets (size 8) on the off chance they weren't too snug and I could get away with that and a big sweater. They. Totally. Fit. 100%. I know it's…

Me too! Maybe more I love seeing how people smile bigger and dress better in the new pics! (not that dress is terrible in the before pictures, but just the confidence to rock new outfits you never thought possible before!)

Stop treating it like a "cheat" and think of it as a "treat". You treated yourself today, you know that you can't do that every day. Get up tomorrow and be really good, drink lots of water through the day and start again. Enjoy the choices you make (good or "bad") and then get up and move on.

The machine this morning said that I lost 635 calories. I logged it in at 525 and plan on trying to eat back only about 300 of those. That way if I go a little over on the weekend I'm still good but the machines very much lie. If you have a machine that asks for weight/age input and has a HR monitor it's more accurate but…

You all are such a great inspiration!! I am so pumped and I can't wait to post pictures of myself in this thread! *determined to get there*

Yes. This. Also helps me know that maybe what I did the previous day that I thought was OK really wasn't for me.
-
Do you need to up your calorie count a bit more, maybe? As the weather gets nicer so many of us are more active and our bodies are burning more--I find that if I'm not eating the right foods or the right amounts (under my base goals) I will be so hungry through the day and when I get home I just want to eat everything in…

I totally hear you on the frustration. It's especially difficult to get back into the swing when you feel like you've backslid so far. But you are here and you are wanting to try again and getting "back on the horse" counts for a whole lot! You can absolutely do this. You know you can do this in more difficult conditions…
