Thanks. It feels good to be headed in the right direction.

Great job. If I may ask, how long was the time frame between losing it and regaining it to getting back on the right track again?

Great job.

Awesome job on the pics everyone. I see this thread and it helps me keep at it.

Well done. Keep up the good work.

Some great advice given so far. I keep telling myself that no one is going to do it for me, I have to want it and do it for myself. While I may not like the exercising or would prefer other foods at times, I really like how I feel as compared to 6 months ago and that keeps on the right track.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the kind words. I still have a long way to go, but am happy with my progress to date.

Well done. Having better fitness makes a huge difference. I think pictures are important. They keep me motivated and heading in the right direction when the scale alone may be discouraging.

Wanted to get out before the rain today, but that did not last long. A short ride is better than no ride. :| 9/1 - 9.3 miles 9/3 - 16.3 miles 9/5 - 23.7 miles 9/7 - 27.2 miles 9/9 - 21.9 miles 9/10 - 4.6 miles Total 103 miles Goal 300 miles Remaining 197 miles

I think I was over optimistic about my goal for this month and am going drop it to 300 miles. I will not be able to put in a hundred a week to reach the goal. I am feeling good these last few rides, hills still suck, but my average pace is getting better. 9/1 - 9.3 miles 9/3 - 16.3 miles 9/5 - 23.7 miles 9/7 - 27.2 miles…

Thanks. I was thinking about it last night and with the darkness coming earlier and the cold I was hoping to hit 1500 by the end of the year.

On April 15 after 10 years off the bike, I decided to get back in shape. With this ride, I am currently at 1,004 miles (1606 km) and 83 hours in the saddle since April 15. My goal which seemed unobtainable at the time was to do 1,000 miles (1600 km) by the end of the year. With some personal effort and a good bit of…

Carrying a single c02 blaster and getting 2 flats, means start walking. At least it was only about 3 miles to the nearest shop and it was a beautiful day. 9/1 - 9.3 miles 9/3 - 16.3 miles 9/5 - 23.7 miles Total 49.3 miles Goal 400 miles Remaining 350.7 miles

A nice but hot ride this morning with a couple large hills thrown in just for fun. 9/1 - 9.3 miles 9/3 - 16.3 miles Total 25.6 Goal 400 Remaining 374.4

Last month, I wanted to break 250 and finished with over 300. I think I will set the bar high for myself and aim for 400 miles this month. I have a bunch hills waiting for me to climb. 9.1 - 9.3 miles

I am using strava. I used to use runkeeper until it lost my data.

Cycling is another low impact option. Whatever you choose, do what you can without hurting yourself. Like stated above, if you do not have one, get a kitchen scale. It is super easy to underestimate calories.

I had issues yesterday. I tried to post a ride, but it didn't post anything. There was definitely a communication issue.

Using a hand mower, it takes me over 14k steps and 3.5+ hours to get it done. With a tractor, I wouldn't count it, but I definitely count it when I do it by hand.

My commute is about 50 minutes on a bike and I get some horrible helmet hair. I broke down and cut it very short. The only thing that saved me was a shower at work. Other than that, keeping it short or pulled back can minimize helmet hair. You could always not wear a helmet, but that is generally a bad idea.

Put the amount of weight you lost in a backpack and carry it around for an hour or two.

Here is Spike. She is too small to run with me, but I have carried her in my bag with me for the last 14 years.
