Lol, that went over my head

This might be the silliest thread ever. Op, if you want to try it, just try it! Give it a few weeks of solid effort and then reexamine. Personally when I didn't count them, I didn't lose weight. Now I count everything and lose weight. I also use my logging to ensure I get enough fiber. When I see fiber is way too low, I am…

Lol. I think I did well. I ate a late but small breakfast, skipped lunch, had one glass of wine and estimated dinner to be about 1000 calories. I budgeted room for pumpkin pie. My estimates could be off but I didn't feel stuffed at all so I'm happy.

One more question: how do you sync a device to mfp?
-
Thank you all. I think I want one that I can wear on my ankle or clip to my clothes.
-
Thank you. I often prelog my day of eating and start off in the red so I know how Much exercise I'll need to do. It's exhausting tracking all my steps on my own. I used to wear a plain old pedometer but it doesn't recognize marching in place (hey, if I'm going to spend 10 minutes Washing dishes, 30 minutes cooking, and 5…

Lol most of what I wrote didn't post. Trying again: 1. Does the Fitbit (and similar products) only track steps (strides)? Would it recognize marching in place or dancing with any accuracy when there isn't any actual walking happening? 2. Do they subtract the calorie equivalent of about 3000-5000 steps since mfp evidently…

I would buy a cheap and old school pedometer to compare your steps. Sounds like the main issue is that your current gadget isn't accurately recording all your steps. Then, if your pedometer shows about the same steps then the problem might be that you're on your feet a lot but not actually taking as many steps as you…

I suppose if you simply exercise more than your normal amount? I don't use tdee. I use mfp numbers and add in my exercise since it varies.
-
Without knowing any details, 1200 exercise calories sounds like a huge overestimation. I don't have a Fitbit but would question this number first and foremost.

Lol! I am exactly this way about traveling and big events. I don't gush with excitement. I'm happy when I get there.
-
Makes sense. Maybe having interests without getting passionately excited is enough. Somewhere on the thread someone said I might look into depression due to an empty feeling. I didn't say I feel empty. I just don't have anything that makes me anywhere as excited as my husband and his sports! Please note all that I did not…

I meant I was a working parent for 6 years (many more years just plain working. )
-
I agree but I haven't devoted my life to my kids. I worked for 6 years (and only recently left to be a stay at home mom). I devoted most of my hours to a boring job. I love being home now and have interests but nothing I am excited about.
-
Thank you for all the great responses! Someone asked if I've travelled or studied. Yes, when I was younger. I have young kids now so travel is limited. I'm not sure what exactly you mean by studied. I have a bachelors degree. I tried yoga classes last year and liked it but there's no passion. I have several things I sort…

I believe the 21 day habit is linked to simpler things like for instance: you start a new job; it will take about 3 weeks for the new drive to become sort of autopilot. The same can't quite be applied to larger changes. But if you pick one small aspect of your lifestyle change perhaps it could apply

After years of going to the same places for thanksgiving and Christmas, I can make a good guess as to what will be served (I'm sure most of us can!). So I might take a guess and pre-log so I can see how much turkey, stuffing, sweet potato, and apple pie will cost me. If it's way too much, I'll decide beforehand what I'll…

Activity wise, yes. I look at every chore and errand as an opportunity for a little more movement. It's actually a nice way to live as I don't dread chores any more. But regarding food: cravings are still a struggle. Not any one particular food. I just really want to eat A LOT of something. I can't if I want to continue…

Definitely switch to weekly shopping. Going more often may lead to off the list choices.

Geez a lot of people saying she doesn't need cardio to lose weight. Maybe she wants to eat a reasonable amount?? Without exercise I am Stuck with 1200 for less than half a lb weekly loss. No thanks. I NEED that exercise to eat like a normal person. Good luck op!!

Over two years ago I was at an event and felt really jealous when my husband bumped into a high school (female ) friend. He did nothing wrong and I realized it was my insecurity. Then two months later I saw pictures of myself at another event and that's right when I started to change my habits. It's been a long two years…

I don't think it is your place to say what should or shouldn't motivate someone to exercise. It's advised to brush your teeth to prevent tooth decay. But I bet a lot of people brush just to get that icky taste out. Does it really matter the reason? With that said, my intense cardio (running) is usually limited to 30…

Oh girl I understand! Here is what helped me lose weight while balancing kids and work: - walk a lot. I don't mean formal exercise (although I do that when I can). I mean fit in small walk breaks throughout the work day. Every time I used the bathroom I tacked on a few minutes to loop around the building. I walked at…

Are you drinking a lot of coffee ? Sometimes that gives me a shakey feeling when I drink too much or it's too strong.
-
Got it and that makes sense. But you are still on the right path and I look forward to your continued success.
-
I can see the discomfort if you actually haven't lost weight. That would just pile on to any frustration. Before I lost weight I certainly had some outfits more flattering than others and yes someone did ask if I lost weight, not knowing that I had been struggling with weight loss and hasn't actually lost anything. It's a…

Use the box label info.

Thank you all. I understand timing doesn't matter. I'm curious if keeping my typical 9-5 window, but changing from 3 meals to only 2 meals + snacks may help me feel more satisfied (allowing me taste A LOT OF THE THINGS ). Will see.

I log an entire day ahead of time. I know that I like to about 300 calories for breakfast and i tend to eat the same thing so I just copy from another day. I do the same for the rest of the day. Then when it's actually time to eat I use my scale to ensure it matches the amount I prelogged. Then I edit if needed because no…

I never hit complete. What's the use of it? It's all there and recorded any way.
