  • I agree, just keep swimming! I'm just getting back to the pool and love each swim, it's just the getting there that is tricky. Keep up the awesome work!
  • Hello 40 Somethings, it's great to see this thread flowing along. I'm on week 2 now, first week was smashing good, 3 pounds dropped! This week has been a little trickier...had a huge, 4 day, headache, thus no getting to the pool. However I have been tracking and aside from lightly going over calories for one day I have…
  • I'm a French press coffee drinker, with cream and sweetener, nothing special. I do however make ice cubes with the leftover and often make iced coffee later in the day. I also keep almond syrup, I do not use it much, but now and then love having a flavored iced coffee.
  • Listen to the advise being given. You are young and resetting your routines will be much easier now than in 30 years...which is about where I am. A couple of points: 1. In this weight loss process you don't want to jump to the bare minimum of what you can eat, in fact eating as much as you can and still dropping weight is…
  • Dittoing on Fage 2% information above, and Fage is my favorite Greek yogurt. A second brand that I also enjoy is Tillamook's Farmstyle Greek (I love that they do not claim their yogurt to be "Greek", and coin it farmstyle...and it's 100% better than many of the Greek rip-off yogurt, imo). The 5.3 oz serving of 0% milk fat,…
  • A ham, cheese, avocado sandwich on Dave's thin sliced bread. Why, because it was lunch time and I was hungry!
  • So you are tracking what you eat, and some of what you do not eat...and not tracking other stuff that you eat hoping it might all equal out. I'm brand spanking new, but am guessing that this technique would not work well for me. I'd need to double check and update my calorie count.
  • One of my favorites is close to above...I make a batch 1/2:1/2 cup, in a blender add shallot (or garlic), Dijon, S & P, champagne vinegar, then drizzle in the olive oil while blending. An optional addition is an oz of Parmigiano-Reggiano - ooolala
  • Porridge Biscuits (w/ jam, w/ gravy) Biscuit sandwich Pancakes (oatmeal, buttermilk, blueberry, ect) Granola Banana bread Zucchini bread Yogurt Cottage cheese w/ fruit Fruit salad Hash-browns Corned beef hash Bacon sandwich w/ tomato Fritters Coffee Cake Fruit English muffins
  • Chami, It's nice isn't it!? Dittoing your post, I am new to MFP, have much to lose, and this was the first week that I taken myself to the gym in over a decade...and actual moved! I was astonished at how fast the body responds. My body feels looser already, I feel perkier, it's almost like my body is already asking me to…
  • My go to breakfasts: Yogurt & fruit Cottage cheese & fruit Oatmeal w/ banana & nuts Poached egg on toast Cold lunch ideas: Sandwich Wrap Fresh spring rolls Apple, nuts & cheese Salads, veggie or fruit type Hummus & pita
  • My first week here, 5 days in...and I've tracked everything, stayed in a deficit, and I put in 30 minutes of swimming or walking 5 times! Whoop!
  • This is week one for me, what brought me here. I've battled weight for most of my life. Lost it all in my late 20's, but something about being treated so differently...I think it scared me some. Now, in my late 40's, I'm in a doctoral program and am mentally healthier and more secure than I ever have been. Except I hide. I…
  • Hello there. I'm not quite 50, but am super close, am a resident of Washington state, and have struggled with weight the majority of my life...and have also lost and gained the weight a couple of times. Other than the weight I am in about the best place I could be in my life and really, really want to master this last darn…
  • Hello, I'm new and have just stumbled across this thread...and love it! I also love cooking, picture taking, and revamping recipes and plan to share some meal shots, weeee!
  • This thread has made a middle ages, completely out of shape woman happy. I literally just started going to the gym and am pleased to hear such positive remarks! thank to all you gym going members who do not judge!!!
  • I'm only on day 2 of this commitment to tracking my food and actually moving...and I have hit the pool...and boy oh boy my legs are sore! Eons ago I was in the best shape of my life and lap swimming is how I got there. At my best I'd do 2 miles then cool down with the backstroke and kick-board...lol...it'll be interesting…
  • I agree, counting is annoying. Considering the fatty liver disease my guess is that you have talked to a nutritionist? If not, please do, expand your salad diet with other healthy options. And golly, congratulations to the weight you have dropped, rock on!
  • Hello there 40 Something's! It's been fun reading the introductions and the good reports on this thread. I'm 48 and have 80 - 100 pounds to lose, we'll see how it goes. Gotta say the 40's have been great for me, academically the most important years of my life, and weight is the last "issue" that I need to work…
  • Brand new and jumping in, and thank you for having this thread! Today: Tracked everything, swam, and completed homework! Tomorrow I will: 1) Get to the gym and swim again, 2) spend the day working on the clinical oral exam material, 3) and track everything!!!
