Feel free to add me, did my first marathon in June and looking to extend out to Ultras once I have a few more under my belt.

This is exactly what I do every trip over there, save a fortune and have 10x as many options to choose from

Why not just cut out read meat and slowly cut out other things rather than going cold turkey? (pun intended) Or source the little meat you ear from a local farmer?

One for off road, one for on

It says more about his insecurities. He thinks you losing weight means you'll suddenly be looking for someone better or that he needs to lose weight too. Do what makes you feel good, you cant control how he feels. I had this in my first marriage, she felt I would leave her because I was getting fitter.

I cant do treadmill running, I get far too bored. But not everyone has the luxury of the right weather or safe area to run in so this is where a treadmill is handy.
-
Absolutely, I try to run as much off road as I can. Its quiet, not many other people around, nature everywhere and its fun. No boredom and I find I can run for hours and be fine...cant do that on road.

Was in Yosemite in June and it was awesome. Aside from that trekking to Mt Everest Base Camp is at the top of the list. Hope to make it back again one year.
-
Sure do...because if I don't, I'll then find a variety of excuses not to run..like when it looks like it's going to rain, its too hot, not hot enough, too cloudy, its a Tuesday....

Always had low self esteem, then was with someone for a long time who didnt help things either. I think now that I'm in my 30's I've come to accept who I am and change what I have control over. Some things I dont and im ok with that now. Still have my very bad days though

Im still in the mentality that I can eat what I want and continue to not gain weight. Unfortunately here I am 20lbs more than I want to be and finding it hard to reign in the bad eating habits and portion control. One day im great, then the next its like I can reward myself for being so good...bad cycle that Im also trying…

Melbourne Australia here, been on here off and on for a while and now that I'm 40days out from my first marathon I need some new support to help me shed some kilos!
-
Too much stress for me to enjoy it unfortunately. I'll just go hide in a hole until it's all over.
-
I just have a few sets of running gear that I can rotate, so my clothes get dumped in a gym bag after a run and then every couple days I wash them all.
-
lol yep once the pain and bad memory wears off it doesnt seem so bad haha

Hi all my name is Luke and I've been running off and on all my life. Its only recently that I've been back at it more often. I aim to compete in my first marathon in June '16 and im excited. Trail running is my ideal type of running and try to get into the mountains as often as I can. I recently did a SkyRunning event and…

First time in one of these threads for me....am aiming for 100km this month which will be a battle with Christmas getting in the way. According to Strava Im at 46km so have some work to do for sure. I did manage to do a SkyRunning event at the end of November which I'm proud of so that helped spur me on to get running more…

I don't think anyone who completes/attempts a marathon has anything to ever be embarrassed about. Put aside the time and just walk/run/crawl as best you can to the finishing line, that's all that matters. I signed up for my first marathon in June and am excited to work towards it!
-
I just signed up for my first marathon in June so this thread has already been helpful...now to get out running!
-
After any new friends., especially if you run (and maybe use strava too?)
-
Strava all the way. Only have top pay if you go with premium version. Regular one is free which is why I use.
-
This is why I lift first thing in the morning...dont even need a coffee to start the day afterwards! Ok thats a lie.
-
I echo this ^ It almost sounds like some jealously coming from your family. You're on your way to being happy, healthy and strong, and I dare say that they aren't any of these? You don't lift for others, you do it for yourself so keep on lifting!

My feelings exactly, nothing better than being outdoors regardless of the conditions
-
me too! I made the mistake of going with some Nike Pegasus and haven't been impressed as I have been with every pair of Asics Ive had. I'd rather have a shoe that fits perfect and doest last as long over a shoe that lasts longer but ins't as good.

Whenever you can fit it in is the best time. For me, I have more spare time before 7am so thats when I usually do things. Not ideal all the time but I work with what time I have.
