Thanks. I'm trying not to stress. Believe me, I am. I can do without the donuts, I think. But doing without fruits and veggies is truly a tough one. My doctor told me to make half my plate veggies and if I do that, I'm likely to be over my carb target every day. :( Its difficult for me to think that veggies and fruit…

Are you talking about cutting the carb percentage or the calorie deficit back a little? Sorry.. little confused.

Thanks for your insight. I do find myself going crazy a little and my significant other noticed it last night, too. Normally I go for a walk in the evenings but didn't have time yesterday due to a meeting I had to attend. I've only been truly counting things for one day and was already wanting to just give up. If I could…

Broccoli, tomato, onions, spices. ..It seems maybe the only things without carbs is meat and fat. Ugh

This is my first day actually counting carbs or calories. I had no idea that freaking broccoli had so many carbs, or onions, tomato, fruits... stuff I thought was low carb and good for me. So basically I can only eat what? Fat? Ugh.

Because I was starving and ate grapes before dinner was ready. That put me over my carbs too.

This scares me immensely. Recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes and confused about what to do here. There is so much information out there that I'm not sure what to believe. But I know it's going to be immensely hard for me to stay within calorie range AND count carbs. For today, I just counted carbs and I'm over my target…

I went with the body fat percentage that the keto calculator suggested I had. I'm not sure if that's accurate or not. I'm already over on the protein macro, too, and if I had used more fats like butter and such then I would be even more over my calories and fats than I am now. Maybe I don't understand how this works?…

I get that, too. Then below that is where I'm sure that I'm doing something wrong. It says my body fat is 43% so I put 43 in the box under "how much body fat do you have". Then it asks about carbs and I put in 50g. Then it talks about protein needs being based on activity level and choose a number between 57 and 93. So I…

I didn't even eat breakfast this morning and I'll be within 100 calories and 10g carb of my target if I don't eat anything else. :/ I don't know how I'm supposed to make this work. Still about 2 1/2 hours til dinner and I feel like I'm starving to death. :( I would love some fruit, but I don't have enough nutrients left at…

Keliandra, 164 is probably not a bad weight at all for someone of your height. At my height,164 is in the obese range at 43% body fat. I'm so confused on what to do. I wish I could afford to visit a dietitian and them just tell me what to do. I'm a better follower than I am a leader. How much weight are you losing at a 20%…

Thanks Teneko. I guess I am wanting to lose it fast, but I thought a pound a week was actually reasonable. Ugh. The anecdotal evidence is nice. I cut out sodas over a year ago, and have been making slow changes to my diet ever since my father died about 2 years ago. It was like a blow to the face to hear from my doctor…

I used that same calculator but I may be doing something wrong. :/ I put in 5'2", 164 pounds, my age, and lightly active and it says 1875 calories. It says my body fat is 43% so I put in 43% in that box. Under carbs I put 50g. Under protein it says 57 is no exercise and 93 is very active, so I put in 65. Next area I put in…

MFP actually set my calories for 1200. I changed them to 1312 based on information from the keto calculator mentioned above. I'm 40 years old, 5'2", 164 pounds. Knowing my measurements, does that still seem low? Have you made any changes to your diet other than cutting bread and pasta?
-
Thanks. You guys are giving me a lot of hope which is dearly needed. Many in my family have died as a direct result of high blood pressure and diabetes. I'm 40 years old with a 2 year old daughter that deserves to have me there at her graduation.

Thanks everyone! I did use the keto calculator and put in 50g carbs and 70g protein to get started and these were the percentages that it kicked back to me. I tried to lose weight last year solely based on calorie counting and wasn't very successful. I would hit plateaus that lasted for months and my significant other…

I'm new here and following the thread because I'm in a similar boat. Not really sure what low carb range I should be in. My doctor recently told me I was pre-diabetic, so I'm trying to make some great changes to be a healthier person. This would mean lowering my blood sugar levels and losing weight. I've been eating less…

Shop the perimeter of the store and stay away from the inside aisles mostly. Meats, veggies, and dairy. Berries are the most low carb of the fruit section. Don't forget to pick up a bag of pork rinds. ;)
