  • The new year's thread has been started: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10819567/2021-think-positively-for-a-better-year#latest
  • It will soon be that time we set goals for the new year--goals usually destined to be unfulfilled. We do it with the best intentions but often have unrealistic expectations and give up at the first set back, calling ourselves failures. Chances of succeeding are greater if the goal is reasonable and we understand we are not…
  • The buttons on my jeans have started social distancing from each other.
  • 2021: It has to be better!!
  • Greetings, friends. I hope you are enjoying your day in the manner that makes it special for you. When 2020 began, little did we know of the challenges that would be presented to us in the months ahead. It is so easy to become disappointed that we cannot celebrate with friends and relatives in the traditional manner.…
  • Maryanne--I also thank you for the e-card and puzzle. I confess to being one of those people who likes to play games, etc. I went to the city yesterday. I was originally scheduled to see the urologist but the office cancelled the appointment in late afternoon the prior day. I still had my nails done and had a Christmas…
  • I move that we do away with "Christmas in July" sales pitches that is the opening of six months of Christmas buying hype.
  • Nothing exciting here. I do have an appointment with the urologist tomorrow which probably will result in an appointment to see if the bladder cancer is back. This is just a routine yearly deal but involves the "Michael Jackson juice" to put me out while the check is done. I hate getting someone to drive when that is done.…
  • I see the weather person is predicting a rare white Christmas for us. It doesn't make any difference this year as there is no place to go. I am not a fan of the white stuff but it creates driving issues on narrow, crooked roads. Our district does a great job with clearing the roads but everyone knows when they cross into…
  • I see we have one county on the State map that is green. Knowing that county, I doubt that is real. I would say those that think they have the virus are staying home and not being tested, but those that are concerned that they might have it despite no symptoms went for testing with many found to be negative. This lowered…
  • Our bank which has branches in three counties has been closed for months. Business is conducted through the drive thru. I had my primary appointment yesterday at 4:30pm. It was raining when I went in but it quickly changed to huge flakes, of which people were rushing to take pics except yours truly. The appointment went…
  • I'll not be working this week. After the State released its colored instruction map, the regional health department notified the Supt. of our local district that we had a big outbreak during the weekend. This is possibly traced to a reopening restaurant that decided to host a free all-day Thanksgiving Dinner so people…
  • Spent part of the day decluttering. I work tomorrow; it pays but decluttering doesn't. Some of my cat collectibles are being donated. I have great memories, pictures, a few cat items kept plus the urn. I miss Midnight. I used to joke that some things I bought for Christmas for me came from Midnight.
  • Pam--I agree! We have a teacher in my favorite school with a doctorate. Her room is labeled as "Dr.--" and the students refer to her by that title O.K. Our Saturday Covid instructional map just posted. I'm in a gold county so we likely will have in-school instruction for those that signed up for it.
  • I sent a message via the patient portal that I wanted added to any list being made of those to receive the Covid vaccine.
  • You would think that if you lived in an area where snow and ice are familiar road problems that people would know how to handle it. I'm cautious but there are those who like to "play" in it and make it worse for others. If I'm at home and it snows, I usually stay put unless it is a necessity to get out. Ice, especially…
  • I was up late watching the news on the chemical plant explosion near our capital city. Traffic was held up for over 4 hours with I-77 being the only thing open. Can you imagine sitting in a car for over 4 hours in 29 degree weather, not to mention what do you do if you have to use the bathroom. I am not working today as it…
  • Just another "ground hog day," or same old, same old. I quit decorating a few years ago. I'm usually too tired from doing other things to put up decorations that have a limited time use. I am so tired right now from doing stuff around the house. It is not energizing like working with people. I plan to take the vaccine when…
  • Not much happening here. I'm just staying put. I'm supposed to work two days next week. I guess the state's color map for education planning that will be posted at 5pm will give a hint as to what will be happening. I know both the infection rate and positivity rate is increasing slightly in my county but the neighboring…
  • I woke up at 4:30am, and when I saw I wasn't going back to sleep I decided to start a new way of organizing all this stuff I have, and in the process, decide that some of it doesn't need to be kept. I have too many clothes.
  • I have "Staying at Home" almost pat. Except for when I sub, I get up in the morning, have breakfast, do things around the house, have lunch, read and watch TV, have dinner, watch TV and then go to bed. Rinse and repeat! I also call it Groundhog's Day. Today, for the first time in 10 days, I left the house to take donations…
  • I love this! I got on the scales this morning for the first time in weeks. I was surprised that I only gained 5 pounds the past two months. I'm trying to be better and weigh the same or less at Christmas.
  • Parallel parking? Most parking spaces in our town are accessed by parallel parking except for a few angled "drive in" spaces by three businesses or in lots. Our state has appointed a person to coordinate the distribution of the vaccine. The Gov said that he and his wife would be taking both doses of the vaccine.
  • I'm just taking it one day at a time. If I need to, I might subscribe to NS again to have a guaranteed supply of food instead of my going to the city for curbside delivery. I haven't parallel parked since my driver' test a thousand years ago.
  • Helene--Subs are only needed when a teacher of an in-school class is not available. I subbed all week in a class in which the teacher was on quarantine because of being named a contact. I just supervised the classes while she taught from home. We no longer will have snow days with school cancelled because the teacher can…
  • Math? I always did well in it and also tutored some in statistics in grad school. I look back at all that math I took and realize that I had little need of calculus, etc. in adult life. It and other advanced math classes were good at exercising the mind. I am on a two week break. First, it is normal for us to have…
  • I just finished two weeks of working on every school day. The virus is making in-roads in our state and local area, so Thanksgiving Week and the week afterwards will be remote and virtual learning to limit the possibility of contagion in the school system because of Thanksgiving get togethers, plus deer season which is a…
  • Maryanne--Again, I am so sorry. It is always difficult at any time but to lose a parent near a holiday adds to it.
  • Maryanne--I am so, so sorry! Cherish the memories; there are not sufficient words!
