Thanks for your kind words about BIL’s passing. I was an emotional wreck when my sister passed 3 years ago after a long, hard battle with cancer. His passing was different. Moving saved his life and he was active up until a few days before his death. He slipped away in his sleep at home which is probably how we’d all…

At first the appointment was strange. The assistant who recorded my information asked for examples of how the droopy eyelids affect my daily life. I know my vision is compromised but I never thought of it in specific situations like reading. My reading isn’t affected but distance vision definitely is affected. I didn’t…

I’m joining you in your depression. I could see the way the vote was breaking and I had to stop watching. I was hoping for a miracle overnight but that wasn’t to be. When he starts all his vendettas, I hope those who didn’t like his morals and values but voted for his economics have regrets. It’s going to be a miserable…

I knew it was Maryanne’s friend. I just typed the wrong name in my response.

Pam, where would your friend move to? I’m trying to stay calm and hope for the best for Election Day. We voted last week. I’m surprised that so many voters are waiting until Tuesday when they have options to vote by mail, drop box or in person early. Who would choose to wait in an hours’ long line if they didn’t have to? I…

Pam, that’s very helpful information about your surgery and how the surgeon decided you need it. If it turns out I need it and he can schedule it during November, I’ll have it done before FL. If he can’t get it done by then, I’d schedule the surgery for June when we get home from FL.
-
I don’t know if I need surgery on one or both eyelids. I just want to see better. My eye doctor kept reassuring me my vision numbers were the same. He wasn’t even looking at how the eyelid was cutting down on my field of vision. I had to ask him to the referral to the surgeon. I’ll find out what he says Friday.
-
Pam, how did your eyelid surgery turn out? I have my consultation on Friday. Did you have both eyes done and how was the recovery? I recently wondered if the droopy eyelid played any part in my fall. I’m going to mention it to the doctor.

Hope the sleep study gives DH the evidence he needs to get the CPAP machine. Enjoy your time with your sister. We’re delaying leaving for FL until mid December. The final visit on my finger is December 9th. We changed our plans to get that done.

I had a great visit at the orthopedic office. My last visit was three weeks before and we discussed how slowly my bone was regenerating and I might need a pin in my finger to stabilize it. Ian also said wearing the splint 24/7 was causing my finger to be less flexible and I’d lost some of the ability to bend it. I wanted…

Back to the orthopedic doctor tomorrow. More X-rays. If no improvements, I’m leaning towards getting the pin in my finger.

Happy birthday Pam. I didn’t realize you had an October birthday. Mine was the fourth. We don’t have many campaign signs around town except for local races. My neighbor said he’d like to have a Harris sign at the house but was afraid of vandalism. That’s probably a fairly widespread assumption. Early voting starts here…

Mark Twain said something similar about New England weather. He lived in CT for many years.

We just got home from a trip to NJ to visit my brother-in-law at his assisted living facility. He has Parkinson’s with complications. We saw him in June but he’s frailer than he was then. All in all it was a good visit. He has dementia and can’t speak louder than a whisper. We talked about things from the past and he was…

Watching the weather forecast. It looks like Milton will become a hurricane and it’s headed for FL.

Some homes on the island were flooded again. We’re lucky that we’re in the middle of the island probably not more than a quarter mile from the water. But there are houses between us and the beach. I think they probably buffered us from the storm by taking the brunt of the surge.

Better to have the tests on hand just in case. I have a couple friends who just recently recovered from Covid. Both were pretty sick. I hadn’t seen them recently so I wasn’t exposed but it tells me Covid is around my area.
-
New free Covid tests are now available. It’s 4 tests per household. The website is covidtests.give. I just ordered ours.

I agree about the climate deniers. Storms are stronger and more frequent. This was the third hurricane in 18 months to hit the FL panhandle. Helene was the strongest yet and affected states north of FLORIDA more than usual because it moved so fast. My area of FL spent a fortune on renourishing the beaches last year. Most…

It seems like we had no damage. I’ve been texting a year round neighbor. H walked over to my house(2 house from his) and said it didn’t look like we had and surge. I asked him to open the door to our storage room so air could get in there . Mold is a big issue there. Any lingering moisture sets the house up mold.

Pam, glad you had a good time in CO. My BIL’s family type of vacation was like your nephew’s. Go, go, go. Not our style at all. We like to stay put instead of how many sights can we pack into a week. Maryanne, DH was like you about winter before we started going to FL. It was dark before 5 pm and he found it depressing. In…

What a beautiful picture. Sounds like the trip is going well. I heard Vance was Don Jr’s choice and he lobbied for Dad to pick him. Guess they have buyer’s remorse over that pick but they’d never admit it. Vance told the WSJ that he had proof in the form of a police report a woman made about her missing cat. She blamed her…

I’ve never missed a state or national election and it’s hard to fathom how someone could skip such an important election. I missed a couple local elections because we were still in FL. Local candidates rarely run on a party ticket so you vote for the individual not a party.

I thought Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Harris was priceless. Plus she signed her post as a childless cat lady. She asked fans to do their own research as she has and to vote. She posted the website for followers to get info on registration. Maybe they can even register there. Vance mocked her as a billionaire celebrity…

Tonight’s debate should be interesting. The polls have both candidates neck and neck which makes me nervous about Trump winning. I was watching man on the street interviews at the Wisconsin state fair. Many Trump voters said they don’t like him but they’re voting for him anyway because of the economy. Somehow the economic…

In Ft Myers, running red lights is pretty common. I’ve learned to wait a few seconds before driving into the intersection in case someone in the cross intersection runs the light. They also have a high number of hit and run accidents, some resulting in fatalities. We don’t have any traffic lights on the island and police…

I’ve never heard of more than half of the celebrities who are competing this season. I know Danny Amandola from the New England Patriots and the two Olympians from the Paris games. I’ve seen Julia Roberts brother in movies. He much less successful than Julia or his daughter Emma. Many of the others are reality stars and I…

What kind of unrelated questions did the lawyer ask? Seems strange he spent so little time on the accident? Are you able to get her phone records the day of the crash? Did the police officer write a report the day of the accident? Did your insurance company take a recorded statement from her shortly after the accident.…

I hope you get better news about Sammy’s treatment. Our cats made it to the mid and upper teens so he’s still a youngster. One had kidney problems but she made it to 15 with medication, diet and frequent vet visits. Good luck. Pam, have you had the deposition yet. I’m sure your lawyer has said to just answer what’s asked…

I was wondering the same thing about whether your lawyer could write notes that you could see.
