  • My first hand PT went well. I liked the therapist. Today was mainly an evaluation and I was surprised I have more damage than I thought. After evaluation, she did soft tissue massage from the elbow down. I was surprised at the tightness and tenderness that far up my arm. I had decent range of motion moving a flat hand…
  • Pam, how kind of you to prepare a meal for your friend’s family. The loss of her mother was quite a blow. We were traveling from SC to FL last weekend and catching up on medical appointments since we got home here. I was at my brother’s house from Christmas through January 3rd. On New Year’s Day, my sister, brother and I…
  • I had looked at the echo results from last two years and didn’t see any huge differences between them but I’m no doctor. I knew I had a slight thickening but last year it was nothing to be concerned about. The vauge phone message had me worried I might have a blockage and need stents. Thank goodness that’s not the case.
  • That cake is gorgeous. Anybody would be thrilled to receive it. I had an echocardiogram the week before we headed south. I had a missed call from my doctor’s office Christmas Eve. I considered this might be bad news since my previous test last year. I called the office today and found it was an update to say the new test…
  • I’m all set to do hand PT in FL. My PA wrote to referral and staff faxed it to the therapy center on Sanibel. I’ve used them before for shoulder and knee therapy. The old building was destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022 but they just moved to a new location last spring. I have appointments booked for January and February.
  • Good for standing your ground with the booking agent. I’m glad you got a more reasonable flight home. Your trip sounded good except for your husband getting separated from the group. It was a smart move to have him go into a restaurant and have an employee give the tour director directions. It must have been a scary…
  • That’s a terrible way to end a trip. I hope you get rebooked soon. Other than that, how was the trip?
  • Is this your first cat show since the pandemic? I hope it goes well.
  • I’ll extend my thanks for the cards as well. I haven’t opened the Advent card yet. I was waiting for December. We had planned driving to upstate NY on Thanksgiving but terrible weather made us wait until Friday. We missed all the holiday traffic and it was clear and dry. We celebrated Friendsgiving after we arrived. We…
  • I’ve cut way down on news to help my mental health. I question whether Trump can carry out mass deportations. Doesn’t a country have to agree to take them back.? I don’t see a lot of that happening. Maybe it will be like the wall. He talks a big show but delivers a lot less than he promises. Thank goodness Gaetz is gone.…
  • You probably didn’t have itching because you used the ointment. We didn’t discuss a sleep mask but I probably hear about closer to the surgery. Using the ice as directed probably kept your bruising to a minimum. I intend to follow instructions to the letter so maybe bruising won’t be a big problem.
  • The doctor is an ophthalmologist and eye surgeon. He specializes in oculi plastics and cosmetic eye surgery. He’s part of the group practice I used for my cataract surgery and yearly eye exams. It’s affiliated with a well known Boston eye practice. It takes months to get an appointment with him so my wanting to push it…
  • Thanks for your kind words about BIL’s passing. I was an emotional wreck when my sister passed 3 years ago after a long, hard battle with cancer. His passing was different. Moving saved his life and he was active up until a few days before his death. He slipped away in his sleep at home which is probably how we’d all…
  • At first the appointment was strange. The assistant who recorded my information asked for examples of how the droopy eyelids affect my daily life. I know my vision is compromised but I never thought of it in specific situations like reading. My reading isn’t affected but distance vision definitely is affected. I didn’t…
  • I’m joining you in your depression. I could see the way the vote was breaking and I had to stop watching. I was hoping for a miracle overnight but that wasn’t to be. When he starts all his vendettas, I hope those who didn’t like his morals and values but voted for his economics have regrets. It’s going to be a miserable…
  • I knew it was Maryanne’s friend. I just typed the wrong name in my response.
  • Pam, where would your friend move to? I’m trying to stay calm and hope for the best for Election Day. We voted last week. I’m surprised that so many voters are waiting until Tuesday when they have options to vote by mail, drop box or in person early. Who would choose to wait in an hours’ long line if they didn’t have to? I…
  • Pam, that’s very helpful information about your surgery and how the surgeon decided you need it. If it turns out I need it and he can schedule it during November, I’ll have it done before FL. If he can’t get it done by then, I’d schedule the surgery for June when we get home from FL.
  • I don’t know if I need surgery on one or both eyelids. I just want to see better. My eye doctor kept reassuring me my vision numbers were the same. He wasn’t even looking at how the eyelid was cutting down on my field of vision. I had to ask him to the referral to the surgeon. I’ll find out what he says Friday.
  • Pam, how did your eyelid surgery turn out? I have my consultation on Friday. Did you have both eyes done and how was the recovery? I recently wondered if the droopy eyelid played any part in my fall. I’m going to mention it to the doctor.
  • Hope the sleep study gives DH the evidence he needs to get the CPAP machine. Enjoy your time with your sister. We’re delaying leaving for FL until mid December. The final visit on my finger is December 9th. We changed our plans to get that done.
  • I had a great visit at the orthopedic office. My last visit was three weeks before and we discussed how slowly my bone was regenerating and I might need a pin in my finger to stabilize it. Ian also said wearing the splint 24/7 was causing my finger to be less flexible and I’d lost some of the ability to bend it. I wanted…
  • Back to the orthopedic doctor tomorrow. More X-rays. If no improvements, I’m leaning towards getting the pin in my finger.
  • Happy birthday Pam. I didn’t realize you had an October birthday. Mine was the fourth. We don’t have many campaign signs around town except for local races. My neighbor said he’d like to have a Harris sign at the house but was afraid of vandalism. That’s probably a fairly widespread assumption. Early voting starts here…
  • Mark Twain said something similar about New England weather. He lived in CT for many years.
  • We just got home from a trip to NJ to visit my brother-in-law at his assisted living facility. He has Parkinson’s with complications. We saw him in June but he’s frailer than he was then. All in all it was a good visit. He has dementia and can’t speak louder than a whisper. We talked about things from the past and he was…
  • Watching the weather forecast. It looks like Milton will become a hurricane and it’s headed for FL.
  • Some homes on the island were flooded again. We’re lucky that we’re in the middle of the island probably not more than a quarter mile from the water. But there are houses between us and the beach. I think they probably buffered us from the storm by taking the brunt of the surge.
  • Better to have the tests on hand just in case. I have a couple friends who just recently recovered from Covid. Both were pretty sick. I hadn’t seen them recently so I wasn’t exposed but it tells me Covid is around my area.
  • New free Covid tests are now available. It’s 4 tests per household. The website is covidtests.give. I just ordered ours.
