What a blessing the SIL and nephew were such a big help. I know your relationship with her hasn’t always been easy so it’s wonderful she came through when you needed her. Sending prayers that you get the house you want and that the current house sells quickly. I can only imagine how confusing all this must be to your…

It makes sense to hold off house hunting until your present house is listed. Years ago my brother purchased a house in another state while trying to sell his condo. The condo took months to sell and he found himself carrying to mortgages. We sisters tried to slow him down but he marches to his own drum. It worked out in…

Pam, it looks like you’re making great progress on getting the house ready to go on the market. Have you started looking at houses for yourself yet? I think it’s a sellers market right now. Houses are moving slower than they have the past few years. And I think they’re more choices out there now.

Looks like we all have declutterring issues. We’ve spent a small fortune on plumbing and electrical works on the FL house this season. The plumbing work was connected to a pipe break out in the yard. It allowed sand and bits of shells to be carried into the house pipes. We arrived to problems with the faucets, toilets and…

Appealing to buyers is the way to go when working on and staging a house. It must have been a shock to see just how much you had in the master closet. I once read we only wear 20% of the clothes we have. I’m sure some lucky people will be glad to add your items to their own closets. That contractor sounds like a big baby.…

Finding a new home is a lot of work but also exciting. I’m sure the renovations you’re doing will help sell the house and get you top dollar. It’s nice SIL and her son will give you a hand with the packing. I hope you can get out to see friends while she’s visiting. It will be an opportunity for brother and sister to spend…

It’s good DH is realizing on his own that he needs to downsize his tools and other collections. He could try selling them. If he has tools left over, he might be able to donate them to Hanitat for Humanity. Such a donation would probably give you a taxable deductible donation.

Your whole experience sounds pretty scary. Just the thought of how he could hurt himself in a fall would give me nightmares. Does he get alone because he doesn’t want to wake you or is he unaware that he needs your help. Does he have much pain in the shoulder?

Can you get a baby monitor for while he’s sleeping in the recliner and you’re in the bedroom? You could hear him get up so he doesn’t have to look for you. When MIL had leg swelling, the visiting nurse had I measure the diameter of her ankles. If it went up a certain amount, we were supposed to call the doctor. I don’t…

Just checking in. Pam, how is DH’s recovery going? Has he started PT yet? How are you holding up with everything on your shoulders?
-
Pam, so far it sounds like home care is going well. I hope things continue to go smoothly.

Home care sounds challenging but you’ll get through it. My DH had a visiting nurse come to the house a couple times a week for the first few weeks. Do that do that in your area? The physical therapist came to the house as well. One of the things I particularly remember was teaching him how to stand up from a chair without…

That’s great news the surgery is behind you and was a success. Being with him when OT and PT visit is a great plan so you know what therapy he needs. Even if he didn’t have dementia issues it’s always better if two people hear the treatment plan. Will any therapists come to the house? My DH had that after his bypass…

Pam, maybe you could use one of your pills between doses of his to stretch his out. That’s just in case yours have lost any potency. Could you cut the sleeve out of an older shirt? Then he’ll only have to get his arm through the arm hold instead of a sleeve. It would probably put less stress on his shoulder if he has to go…

I posted yesterday but it seems to have disappeared into cyberspace. How did both of you make out with the snow. We had no snow but it’s been 25 degrees below normal and we had cold rains the last few days. I hope more seasonal weather returns next week. I went to PT yesterday only to find I was a day early. Most…

My pt is going well. I didn’t realize I had soft tissue injury to my forehand. I thought the damage was to my finger and wrist. The therapist massages the arm and that’s when I realized I had tenderness in the forearm, particularly near the elbow joint. It makes sense that my whole arm was jarred when I fell. I never would…

If his sister doesn’t drive you crazy, I would accept her offer. Her presence will allow you to get out of the house during DH’s recuperation. Maybe she can spend some one on one time with him freeing you up for errands and meal prep. He may spend less time whining in her presence than he would in your presence. If he’s up…

My first hand PT went well. I liked the therapist. Today was mainly an evaluation and I was surprised I have more damage than I thought. After evaluation, she did soft tissue massage from the elbow down. I was surprised at the tightness and tenderness that far up my arm. I had decent range of motion moving a flat hand…

Pam, how kind of you to prepare a meal for your friend’s family. The loss of her mother was quite a blow. We were traveling from SC to FL last weekend and catching up on medical appointments since we got home here. I was at my brother’s house from Christmas through January 3rd. On New Year’s Day, my sister, brother and I…

I had looked at the echo results from last two years and didn’t see any huge differences between them but I’m no doctor. I knew I had a slight thickening but last year it was nothing to be concerned about. The vauge phone message had me worried I might have a blockage and need stents. Thank goodness that’s not the case.

That cake is gorgeous. Anybody would be thrilled to receive it. I had an echocardiogram the week before we headed south. I had a missed call from my doctor’s office Christmas Eve. I considered this might be bad news since my previous test last year. I called the office today and found it was an update to say the new test…

I’m all set to do hand PT in FL. My PA wrote to referral and staff faxed it to the therapy center on Sanibel. I’ve used them before for shoulder and knee therapy. The old building was destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022 but they just moved to a new location last spring. I have appointments booked for January and February.

Good for standing your ground with the booking agent. I’m glad you got a more reasonable flight home. Your trip sounded good except for your husband getting separated from the group. It was a smart move to have him go into a restaurant and have an employee give the tour director directions. It must have been a scary…

That’s a terrible way to end a trip. I hope you get rebooked soon. Other than that, how was the trip?

Is this your first cat show since the pandemic? I hope it goes well.

I’ll extend my thanks for the cards as well. I haven’t opened the Advent card yet. I was waiting for December. We had planned driving to upstate NY on Thanksgiving but terrible weather made us wait until Friday. We missed all the holiday traffic and it was clear and dry. We celebrated Friendsgiving after we arrived. We…

I’ve cut way down on news to help my mental health. I question whether Trump can carry out mass deportations. Doesn’t a country have to agree to take them back.? I don’t see a lot of that happening. Maybe it will be like the wall. He talks a big show but delivers a lot less than he promises. Thank goodness Gaetz is gone.…

You probably didn’t have itching because you used the ointment. We didn’t discuss a sleep mask but I probably hear about closer to the surgery. Using the ice as directed probably kept your bruising to a minimum. I intend to follow instructions to the letter so maybe bruising won’t be a big problem.

The doctor is an ophthalmologist and eye surgeon. He specializes in oculi plastics and cosmetic eye surgery. He’s part of the group practice I used for my cataract surgery and yearly eye exams. It’s affiliated with a well known Boston eye practice. It takes months to get an appointment with him so my wanting to push it…
