I take some time off around the holidays and I try to use at least some of this time for myself....exercising and prepping meals. I will try to get my family out for long walks, maybe even bike rides if the weather is good. I try to remember that parties are about seeing friends and family, not just eating. I love the…

I'm a mom and often am thinking of dinner for not just me but the kids and husband as well. Due to food interactions of my daughter we rarely go out. Much of our dinners are cooked from scratch or close to that. Here are my gotos for dinner when I don't feel like cooking breakfast for dinner. We have omlets. Many leftovers…

And, I like the ones in either mustard sauce or tabasco!

I always think of sardines as camping food! But I always have a can in the cupboard and they make a nice substitute for tuna in a sardine salad. Or my husband and I will split a can with drinks while playing cribbage on a very lazy Sunday afternoon

avacado, olive oil on my salad, whole eggs (not just whites), maybe some butter on the veggies. I don't usually have to resort to nuts but that does it pretty quick, too

there is nothing wrong with slowing your loss for a while to see how you feel. When you get closer to the end you will probably want to do that anyway I don't crave MORE food but I do crave different foods. I cannot remember the last time I had a lettuce salad. I'm all about spinach, kale, shaved brussel sprouts now. And,…

brussel sprouts, raw dressed as a salad tahini, lemon, garlic dressing (on just about everything) 1% or 2% greek yogurt. Not all the time but good to have on had when you need to really be satisfied

I always put an apple in my lunch and save it for afternoon. Most of the time I don't eat it but if I'm starving (at my desk or on the drive home) I'll pull it out. I usually put a lot of miles on those apples!

I think that part of making it a lifestyle is figuring out how to make it sustainable. So, if you go thru a phase where you cannot stand to cook or hate all the foods that you've been eating you need a fall back. Mine is rotisserie chicken from the grocer. I know it's not the best. I have one place that is organic chicken…

I always take an extra piece of fruit in my lunch. If I'm starving, I eat an apple at 4:00 or so. I don't need it every day and sometimes I joke that I'm just putting miles on the fruit in my lunch bag between work, home, work, home.

I'm glad that you are finding some good options at the hospital. That has not been my experience here. Are you able to get out for a walk? Up and down the hallway? Even lunges and wall sits in the room might make you feel better if you can. Hang in there!

Gotta tell you that we had a guy who used to walk laps around the office building. One or two laps to take a break. After several years, they painted lines around his track and now I see other folks out there from time to time.

I'm late to this discussion but I'll throw this out there. Hold your ground. When you have an opportunity to offer up the food, make sure there are some healthy choices and some treat (I think you get farther advocating the 80/20 rule for the mass population even though that may not be what you are doing personally).…

No on ramp at our box. We are really small so you jump right in. But because there aren't that many people, whoever needs attention will get it. If you aren't being challenged by the on ramp and think that you won't be sore tomorrow (or the next day) then you can probably do something extra. It's a journey so just don't…

what is going on? It just seems like a lot of food. That being said, I've started adding some more carbs back in, especially after working out. I workout in the morning and I just find that I am kind of mentally slow after which doesn't fly for me. Especially not in the mornings. I am eating more after working out and more…

Thanks all. What I'm doing has kind of stalled so I don't have much to lose by trying. Ha ha. Not a great pun

Hey folks, how is this going for you? I've been interested and looking at the website but not sure that I could really pull it off. I'm 50 year olds, woman, feed a family of three others who are pretty supportive but they like their food their way. I managed to fit myself into a mostly paleo/primal kind of diet by subbing…

I go to crossfit class 3 x / week. Plus a dumbell WOD in the park once (maybe twice if the weather is awesome and I'm feeling tons of energy). I often walk at lunch time. THis weekend I ran slowly on trails for 40 minutes or so on Sunday but often I don't do any specific workout just garden work and hiking. It has taken me…

Here in the PNW we think it's hot when it in the upper 70's (all the whiners come out). But, I did live in Texas previously so I know heat. I workout at 6:00 a.m. This morning I had a big glass of water when I first got up. And, I take my water bottle and use it during the workout. It will take a couple of weeks for your…

I have not got a lot of energy since I was eating only liquids for almost 2 days. If…

Leftovers from dinner This time of year I have lots of greens from my garden so salad is a good option. I keep dressing in my desk drawer because I'm lazy that way (Newman's own sesame ginger). I make sure I have some smart protein around: frozen grilled chicken breast & hb eggs. I take a piece of fruit and an extra one in…

Are there any that you do like? If so pile them on. We've had good experience with picking one veg at a time and trying to figure out a way that we like it. Roast it, steam it, stir fry, bbq. Try as many ways as you can think of. Try italian, chinese, lebanese, etc. Convince yourself that something works and find it. We…

Go for it! I lucked out in finding crossfit. I didn't know what I was getting into and didn't shop around. I found a great coach & box just by luck. Now, 18 months or so later I love it. Love that I'm stronger than ever. Love the friends I've made there. Love my 6:00 a.m. workout mornings best of all mornings.

Lots of gardening this weekend including hauling buckets of mulch. Thanks to crossfit I'm pretty self sufficient at 50+ years old This morning was skill back squats! WOD 15-12-9 clean squat burpees I'm on liquid diet for some medical procedure this week so not a lot of get up and go this morning.

If you can handle yogurt, greek yogurt has a lot more protein than regular. And, you mix protein powder into it
