  • Sometimes you can flip the switch and get back into the groove. Other times for whatever reason it is tough. Then I go back to what I know works. I start w/ working out every day. After a few day or a week, I revamp my breakfast. Then I'll add some other habit such as hitting some daily fruit/veggie target. In a couple of…
  • Dinners are hard if everyone is sitting around a table then I feel like I have to eat. But, I would try to keep it reasonable. In a restaurant I would try to order smartly. At cocktail kind of parties, I grab a drink and nurse it along for the 1-2 hours max that I'm there. I just don't eat the food. I tell myself that this…
  • It helps me if I just stay out of the kitchen. If I go in there and stand in front of open cabinets, not good is going to come of it. If I haven't planned that snack, I try my best to stay the heck out of there
  • I'm still eating salads here but they have changed with the season. I like kale w/ dried cranberries or apple/pear slices and a bit of goat cheese, maybe some nuts I like to add leftover roasted butternut squash to a green salad. It's great w/ a vinegrette that has a bit of curry added to it. And maybe some golden raisons…
  • I generally agree that you should do things to lose weight that you aren't willing to do forever in order to maintain. So, I can skip treats Monday thru Friday but I know I'm having something on the weekend. However, you have to realize that your tastes and comforts change over time. And, you should challenge yourself from…
  • nope. I'm at crossfit at 5:30 and I never eat before. 1 cup of coffee and some water before and during. Then, I eat after. I agree that you should do what feels good for you. I never eat but my husband always gets up earlier than me and eats something about 200-300 calories or so.
  • Today I brought bread, mayo & a perfect tomato from my garden I sliced the tomato and made a great sandwhich. Plus an apple. And, I usually bring an extra apple for the afternoon. I'm going to make some turkey deli meat wraps and freeze them for fast lunches when I don't have time to fix something.
  • Sometimes it is associated with another night time activity. I used to snack while watching TV. I moved the TV and have found a host of other things to do in the evening including reading, going for a walk (in summer), knitting, listening to books on tape, taking a tub, etc. Also, I have found that I just have to stay out…
  • I had a stroller and my daughter and I used to see how many different playgrounds we could hit in one walk. Schools, churches, & parks all had playgrounds and she was pretty happy to ride along as long as she knew she was going to get to play somewhere different and fun If she can play by herself, I used to also walk laps…
  • Sounds like you have a plan so that is a great first step. I do similar to what you're planning when I travel. I try to keep breakfast & lunch similar to what I'd eat at home. Then, look to fill up on lean protein & clean veggies at dinner. And, if it's a vacation I am usually more active than I am at home but even if I'm…
  • I want to have less knee pain. I am very athletic & active so am looking forward to performing better, too I want to have better blood sugar & cholesterol numbers. I was treated for breast cancer this summer so I really do know what it is like to enjoy good health I want to be confident about the first impression that I…
  • yes, just do it. Or take one thing that you can improve this week and do that. Maybe have a goal of 5 veggie servings everyday, or no fast food. Something doable but noticeable for the first week. Sooner or later you have to bite the bullet and do what you know you have to do
  • With the points WW is kind of a simplified calorie count system. However, the way the points are assigned, you quickly learn to choose move veggies, less fat, more lean protein. If you really don't know what to eat then I think it might be helpful. There is also accountability there that may be helpful.
  • Stretching my hamstrings usually helps my lower back. I'm not advising you, but it does help me
  • I have and love it. I agree that it's a fun way to be active and work the muscles!
  • this morning I had about 1 c of no fat greek yogurt and a handful of perfect local blueberries. I stirred in some raw oats and a bit of unsweeted coconut for more chew and to fill be up right before I ate it. I ate this at my desk while trying to get my Monday going.
  • you should do whatever you love. If you're just starting think about all the things you can do to get yourself "hooked" on exercise. Some questions to ask yourself do you like to be outside or in? in a gym, pool, track, at home or somewhere else? do you like to workout by yourself or with a friend or with a group? music or…
  • When we are traveling by car I try to keep breakfast as similar to home as possible in terms of what and quantity. This means simple scrambled eggs or oatmeal for me. I don't load them up with cheese, brown sugar, etc. For lunches we try to stop at a grocery and then find a park so we can be outside and move around a bit,…
  • the people in my family who suffer from severe depression/anxiety get a lot out of cardio workouts. Running is great but maybe you need to get a treadmill or elliptical or bike or rower to workout at home until you can get yourself out. And, we all believe that getting outdoors everyday is helpful, no matter what the…
  • Lots of good stuff above. Are you eating well?
  • I have a sunrise simulation alarm clock. I get up at about the same time EVERY SINGLE DAY. Even weekends although I might snooze in for an extra 30 minutes then. No snooze alarms. I want quality sleep for as long as possible, not the post snooze alarm light sleep stuff. And, lights out at 9:00 during the week. I stay up a…
  • I rotate among 4 breakfasts a protein smoothie made w/ 1-2 scoops of protein powder and frozen blueberries. Doesn't keep my full till lunch so not really what you're looking for but it does travel well scrambled eggs made w/ any veggies or leftovers I can find in the fridge. At the very least it is handfuls of sauted…
  • I try to plan around a lean protein and then veggie based side dishes. I don't completely avoid the starchy carby sides but I usually try to avoid these for myself.
  • You can get down to one bottle same way that you got down to 2. Just keep backing it off. Slow is ok if you want to avoid the headaches. When you get down to one bottle, switch to warm, flat diet mt. dew. Or switch to warm, flat diet something else that you don't really like to drink. Take a swig when you need to (carry it…
  • Lots of good ideas for workouts above. You can also try to add overall activity to you day by taking the kids to a park. Walk over there if you can. Pull a wagon or get a stroller that works with both kids. You can do standing push ups, leg dips, etc on the playground equipment while the kids play, chase them around, play…
  • I agree that walking is a great place to start. Just start putting on some miles. Invest in some good running shoes (go to a local running store) and start figuring out what to wear on your excursions. Get in the habit of going out. Take your workout seriously. Schedule it and get out there 3-5 times per week. Figure out…
  • I always have salad greens & veggies. Dressing. And, when I cook chicken, shrimp or salmon I make extra and freeze it individually so it's ready to pull out for lunch. It defrosts before noon for me. Just have to make sure you have good containers to carry it.
  • 10 meals over the course of several months isn't going to make or break your goals. Personally, I look for lean protein and pile on the veggies/fruit. Last night we ordered off a menu so it was easier. I had salmon, veggies, quinoa and salad. Decaf coffee at dessert. Lasagna is pretty hard so I would eat but a smaller…
  • I can eat more. I feel better. I have more energy. I am trying to ward off the type II diabetes that is common in my family. I think I look better. And, it's my sleep insurance. We are all busy. We all get the same 24 hours and have to decide how to use it. This always sounds snarky but I'm telling myself as much as anyone…
  • I love those things too. I have switched to boneless, skinless chicken thighs. But bones would be ok, too. I grill them and then soak them in frank's hot sauce (no butter and not the wing sauce). That w/ a dab of blue cheese dressing have helped me to skip the wings most of the time
