Hi Donna. After retiring from the military in 2011, I gained about 45 pounds, and it seemed like there was no end in sight as my weight kept creeping up higher each day. I tried losing weight on my own by dieting and going to the gym, but I was only able to lose 10 pounds. I went on Nutrisystem and was able to lose another…

Get a pressure cooker. You can cook meals in minutes without using pots and pans. We use ours all the time and the food is ready fast.

I found weight loss success with Nutrisystem. I tried losing weight on my own, but had no success. Especially if there is a large amount of weight to lose, it may help to do something like Weight Watchers or Nutrisystem if possible.

Great job on kicking the smoking habit, and you are well on your way to achieving your weight loss goals.

There are many negative side effects. I used to drink two 44oz Diet Cokes a day, but one day I just stopped cold turkey in January 2012, and haven't had any since. Here is a list of reasons not to drink diet soda: http://www.health.com/health/gallery/0,,20739512,00.html

Welcome Tameca. I agree with Mary Kate that you can have rice and potatoes as long as you watch your portions and how often you eat them. Focus on eating healthy foods in the right amount, and work in things like rice and potatoes as sort of a reward. I do Nutrisystem, because that helps give me the discipline I need, and…

Those are tough items to give up, but you should start to see a difference once you cut out all that salt, sugar and calories. Great job! Keep up the good work.
