Try and get out of the mindset of good and bad foods. Eat what you enjoy as long as it fits in your calorie goal. Will be much easier to stick to that way! I lost 5 and a half stone without giving up chocolate, cheese or my old favourite - Kettle Chips! :)

1500 is the minimum recommended for a man. 1200 for a woman. That's the base rate people typically need to fuel their bodies basic functions. Then you should eat back a portion of your exercise calories on top. If you're confident you're calorie count is correct you could try adding nuts and healthy fats to your diet like…

You have a lot of cup & tablespoon measurements in your diary. They aren't accurate for solid food, you need to use a digital food scale. Also things like banana - it just says 1 medium. You need to weigh everything if you want a true representation of how many calories you're eating. It won't make much difference whilst…

Starvation mode is a myth. Do you weigh all your food on a scale? Going by what you say you're eating I think you're probably eating more than you realise. :)

I used WW to reach my goal weight. I don't go to meetings anymore but weigh in every week at home with a friend so we're accountable to each other. It helps me stay on track and it's free! Do you have a friend you could do that with? Might be an alternative for you. :)
-
I'm the same height as you and at 9st 7lbs I was a comfortable UK size 10 pretty much everywhere except Primark. My friend at the same height/weight was a 12-14. I think it depends on your body shape/type. I wouldn't stress about it. :)

Are you eating because you feel hungry, or just out of habit? What kinds of food are you eating? Fruit and veg will help fill you up without adding too many calories. Increasing your exercise (not sure what, if any, you do now) will give you extra calories to play with too if you still feel you can't cut back. I know…

Soya beans are a great source of protein (about 14g per 100g of beans) and super easy to cook. 6 minutes to steam or you can microwave them if that's your thing. Tofu is good too but requires a bit more prep. I'm also vegetarian and Coeliac so have to stay gluten free. I eat a lot of lentils and brown rice and plenty of…

I maintained my goal weight for 3 years, ill health and having to quit exercise for 18 months mean half my original loss has been regained. Initially I felt massively guilty about undoing all my hard work, but I realise now that's futile. So I'm just taking it one day at a time. I used to run 5k 3 times a week and last…

I probably get through a bottle of wine most weeks, over 2 or 3 days. Just a glass with my evening meal. Never get to drink on a night out as I'm always driving! :)
-
It definitely sounds like water weight. How much are you drinking every day? I can retain water for days at a time then lose it all overnight.
-
The bigger your calorie deficit, the more you should lose. 1000 calories a day isn't sustainable though for most people. The minimum for women should typically be 1200 and men 1500. That being said, I do personally find if my weight loss slows down that upping my calories by about 200 a day helps. I think this is mostly…

This! ^^^^ Counting calories is not a waste of time if it allows you to reach your goals. Buy a digital food scale, weigh and log all your food and stick to the calorie goal MFP gives you. It really is as simple as that. Good luck! :)

I allow myself one day a week where I will eat at maintenance. Some may see it as "cheating" but as I usually bank about 300kcals a day in exercise that I don't eat back it actually fits perfectly with my weekly deficit goals. :)

I'm going on holiday at the end of August. Aiming to lose a stone before I go. Getting there slowly but surely! :)
-
I'm confident because I have done it before. My maintenance was derailed this past 18 months due to illness, but I know I can get the extra pounds off and maintain a healthy weight again. :)

This is true of many countries, not just the US. Also, I know you can't reverse selective breeding, I was referring to how things could have been had selective breeding not taken place. But there are livestock breeds that could function in a wild environment, and this wouldn't happen overnight so I do believe it could be…

Thousands of years back? I think you need to do some research into the history of farming animals and selective breeding. Selective breeding of farm animals didn't really take off until the 18th century. And it's only since WW2 that the meat market has exploded. You've also missed the point. What kind of life do you or the…

Factual? Really?! You know what... I just don't care enough to explain to you why you are wrong!

I had to have all my teeth removed so I couldn't chew it, and refused to eat it. As I got older I found I couldn't bring myself to. We lived on a farm and when you've helped hand rear a lamb it's difficult to think about eating it! I saw from an early age where it all came from and it put me off. I used to watch my nan…

I could be here all day giving reasons. I hear the line about "what would happen to the animals if we didn't eat them" all the time - from people trying to convince me to eat meat or that being vegetarian is wrong. I would like to point out I have been vegetarian since I was 2 (I'm now 31), am the only one in my family and…

That is a ridiculous statement... But hey ho! Whatever makes you feel better! ;)
-
Hope that fixes it! Had mine a long time without any issues so hopefully you will too! :)

You shouldn't use those if you're weighing on tile as they will skew the results. That's the only reason I can think of apart from it just being faulty. Sorry if I wasn't much help x

I have a set of WW scales and have used them for years with no problems. Do you weigh on carpet or tiles/hardwood? Also did it come with carpet feet and are these attached?

This was very informative, thanks! I try and limit my aspartame intake because I was advised by my dietician that, like caffeine, if consumed with food it impairs the bodies ability to absorb calcium and iron. Having been diagnosed with Coeliac disease 5 years ago I was severely anaemic and there was some concern for my…

I'm teaching myself kettlebells at the minute. Got some great advice on here. Am starting with a really low weight and focusing on form for now, then will increase the weight once I'm happy I'm doing the moves correctly. Good luck with it! :)
-
I have to keep reminding myself to keep my head up (I keep following the Kettlebell!) but so far so good! I really enjoy it. Just focusing on the Russian swing for now, but hoping to expand my repertoire soon. Just using the smallest weight to start so I can focus on form, but will try and increase that next week. Thanks…

That is exactly what I was going to say! I wondered why nobody else had commented on it! I blamed my family and their poor eating habits for my obesity for years. Then I pulled my finger out, admitted I had no-one to blame but myself and lost 5 and a half stone. You can do it, just don't get caught up trying to change…

Thanks! The person I have been in touch with actually teaches a kettlebell class so I'm hoping he will know what he's doing! Gonna be a week or so before I can afford it so I will persevere with the videos for now and see how I get on. :)
