  • You poor thing! I wish I had some awesome advice for you, but gasx strips helped me tremendously. I found that it was artificial sugar or color in jello that destroyed me. I quit jello and have been pretty gas free. Sugar alcohols also cause these symptoms quite often. I hope that you can get some relief soon. Ps: love…
  • Tawnykakers1: you are gonna feel sooo much better after starting your vits! I still struggle with energy in the evenings, but I'm a new person in the morning! If you are missing some texture options, I can't say enough about the bariatric advantage calcium chews. My caramel ones are like a soft chew caramel candy. It is a…
  • I MAY have panicked today. Last night (0235 to be precise) I noticed that my top drain incision scab had completely softened, was leaking, and had an opening in the center. I calmly responded by sitting up holding the phone until the office opened at 0830. I was dressed and had make-up done before I could even call bahaha.…
  • At 2 weeks, I was able to start puréed/soft foods. I'm cautious and still have yogurt for bfast, shake for lunch, then I have 1-2 foods a day as dinner and snack. I still keep mine very thin using fairlife skim milk. Tat2Cookies root mash, low fat ricotta bake, and fat free refried beans with light sour cream are my…
  • It is a huge life change for us, but a terrifying one for those on the sidelines. I make a conscious effort everyday to reassure my husband and make him feel more secure. I can't change him, but perhaps I can inspire him. I feel the wheels turning...he is thinking a bit about choices. The difficult thing is that he eats in…
  • I agree with Tawnykakers. I went to a surgeon a few hours from my house because the entire hospital was geared towards Bariatric surgery and even have a gastroenterologist on site. I'm paranoid about stuff due to an issue that occurred within my family, so I found a surgeon who actually works to certify other hospitals as…
  • Thank you all!! I'll post a pic when I go!
  • Congrats on making the decision and getting a surgery date! Best advice I can give is to take some serious time and read the posts on this board. I've learned soooo much from members on here sharing their progress, thoughts, and learnings. Ohh and get an awesome warm robe for the hospital and one of those sit up bedrest…
  • New fun update!!! For years I've only been able to shop at Catherine's for my clothes. As a matter of fact, when I started my journey, I was barely fitting in certain styles of 5x (their largest size). Today I had to buy an outfit for my husband's upcoming Christmas party. I'm used to hating my clothes and settling for…
  • Ohhh this thread made me cry. It is weird how we learn to block out so much of how others look at an overweight person. Once it all comes rushing back, it is really terrifying. I had a significant weight loss in high school...you would have thought that I was a new student based on how some people reacted. It was hard to…
  • Great loss and congratulations on your pregnancy!!! This group is very helpful and kind...you'll be happy here! Keep us updated! I had RNY 11/16. I hope to get pregnant once I'm allowed (1.5 yrs for me according to my doc).
  • Fat free refried beans and light sour cream (with a touch of siracha)...delish!!! The next day I tried Shelly's baked ricotta! I figured...I'm Italian, of course my body will graciously accept cheese and lots of seasoning, garlic, and a slightly tangy sauce without any sugar! I took a tiny bite and waited 5 mins...AMAZING!…
  • Thank you for sharing! This makes sooo much sense now!
  • Lol anbrdr! I just tried on my class ring yesterday too! It fits my ring finger again...not yet the middle one...
  • How exciting!!! I'm happy for you!
  • Aww Tawny, that means so much to me! I know how hard the struggle with weight is, and it is so personal and lonely. This decision doesn't come easy to any of us and is truly life changing. This group allows us to express our excitement and fears during and through this process. If any of my story is something that others…
  • I'm so happy for you! I agree about this group. I'd be lost without everyone sharing their experiences! Keep us updated on your progress!
  • 11/16/15 RNY
  • Thank you anbrbr!! I'll have to find that thread! Those soups sound awesome! Today I had my 2 week follow-up, and they said that I'm doing phenomenally well. I had a lot of guilt because I'm not having a lot of the typical issues that others have had. They told me that the 100% clean diet, 80lb weight loss, and daily…
  • Yay surgery date!!! Congratulations! I've been VERY fortunate, and my process has been pretty darn smooth. Expect a little pain, but mine wasn't bad. I set my acceptable level at a 4 and the nurses gave me meds if it reached a 5. I thought it would be a lot worse. I was, and still am, very cautious with my body 2 weeks out…
  • Buy it frozen! The fresh stuff at the store was thawed out THERE. Get the bagged frozen filets, preferably individually wrapped. They are frozen on the boat or a processing ship that travels with the fleet....way fresher and tastier than so called "fresh fish" at the counter.
  • I wouldn't worry, same thing is happening to me...but then my husband gave me a compliment on my butt and suggested that I should take my measurements. Best idea ever...I'm shrinking! Lol...I'm just rolling with it and I'm gonna wait until Monday to weigh myself again.
  • I appreciate all of you soooo much. I've decided to take the full 4 weeks off. I do need to focus on my new body and integrate my new routines better before going back to a fast-paced and high stress job. Here's to learning to put me and my health first! Now it is confession time. I made a mistake of reading the recipe for…
  • I've been very open....but still haven't (and won't) post it on facebook. One of my family members did put my surgery announcement on FB to update the rest of my giant family that it went well, but I have a filter that prevents others from posting it on my wall (only on their's). I asked them to delete it, and they did. My…
  • I got sick to my stomach and crazy headaches from the artificial colors and sweeteners in sugar free jello! I was eating very clean before surgery, and the jello did NOT sit well with me.
  • All packed up and headed to my house! I'm going to miss my parents, but I need to start resuming a bit of a normal life. I miss being spoiled and in a very stress (and responsibility) free environment. I have 4 pets and a husband at home that probably miss me...even though I may be a bit emotional right now hahaha. On…
  • Thank you bcedl1982!! Today I hit my 100lb loss milestone! I couldn't be happier!!!! Now I'm panicing about going back to work. I planned on being off for 3 weeks, but my dr wrote me off for 4...tempting!
  • I'm so sorry, Kim! I hope that you're feeling so much better today!
  • Soooo...since I am clearly amazing at moderation (obviously NOT), I decided that I should make the nice and smooth transition from a 1/4mi walk once or twice a day since surgery, straight to a 2 mile hilly hike! Best idea EVER! Lol. I'm a bit sore, but it felt AMAZING to get out in the woods and see some wildlife. We MAY…
  • I actually avoided all of those shows on purpose. I find them to be similar to "freakshows". They make me uncomfortable. I also HATE Tyler Perry for making an empire based on the purchase of a "fat suit". That being said, a lot of my family watched My 600lb Life as a way to learn and understand what I was going through.…
