When I trained for my 1/2 I mainly used Cliff shotblocks and cut them in half, an entire one was kinda hard to chew. I've also used honey stingers, JB sports beans and mini cliff bars and just take a bite every now and again. I start about 20-30 minutes in then every couple miles or so. I hit my first wall during a 15K and…

Awesome!! I love it when you can actually SEE the results! Great job!

When the fun is gone, it's time to take a little break. You know, time away makes the heart grow fonder.....lol. Usually after a few days away, I NEED to run. This time of year can be hard with the weather and all the stresses that come along with the season. I get it. I agree with following a training program for your…

Congratulations! That's a huge accomplishment, you should be proud! I started running with c25k too and the longest I've done is a HM. You are a true inspiration!
-
Right? Lol!! Definitely go for it! I started running using C25K a few years ago and realized that I actually (gasp) liked running. The atmosphere at a race is awesome plus the feeling of accomplishment you get when you're finished is amazing. Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Just register!

I think you should do it! Like amyrebeccah said it can be very motivating to have a short term goal to work toward. You know you will finish. It's ok to walk/jog too! Will this be your first?

I saw the idea somewhere on here about mixing protein powder into my yogurt. I've been using Quest Vanilla Milkshake, Fage 0% and then adding berries. It's almost like a pudding, delicious!
-
I just got a bag of these at Costco......so delish! I like them even on their own!

I love reading through this! I'm grateful that I had today off and got to sleep in, worked out then drove into town surrounded by beauty and sunshine. Oh and that I got back home just before the snow started.

Good for you! I'm chunky and carry most of my weight in my butt and thighs.....I LOVE the compression/spandex clothing because I hate feeling "jiggly" when I'm jogging. Plus the sweat wicking abilities of these clothes make for a much more comfy run. You're going to do great! You've got this!!

You look GREAT!! What an accomplishment! Thanks for sharing.

On work days, I eat around 400 cal for bfast. I try to do higher protein like a bar and greek yo w/ fresh fruit or eggs, cheese, and veggies. On days I'm off I usually sleep in much longer and usually get the majority of my calories later in the day. I know for me, protein keeps my appetite in check much better than a meal…

Awesome and Inspiring! Thanks for sharing this and a huge CONGRATS to you!!

Congrats!!! That is awesome!! I did a 15K today. I'm a "heavy" runner too, especially right now (about 15lb extra.) For me being able to just go out and run while the miles tick off is something I'm proud of. The longest distance I've done is a 1/2 marathon and I was pretty proud of that too!

I use the Fitletic Ultimate II. I have carried up to 4 small bottles at once when training for a half (purchased separately.) I'm hippy with a booty and the belt stays in place just fine. It also has a couple pockets (key and snack, phone, etc), a couple elastic things for Gu (which I never use) and little hanger things to…

^^^This. The only way to get better at running is to run. A couple shorter runs throughout the week (in addition to your Sunday run w/ the group) will allow your body adapt in terms of gait and breathing....on your own. You'll be more confident and those Sunday runs will become easy peasy. Good Luck!!

I have a Garmin Forerunner 220 with HR monitor. Use it for over a year now and love it.

Love my Garmin Forerunner 220.....purple!
-
Well...............?

Agreed! I did my first half last August and followed a Higdon 12 week plan. I bought a Garmin GPS watch with the HR monitor and I love it. I also bought a fuel belt so that I could carry plain water with me. As far as fuel, you'll have to find out what works for you. I always ate the same oats/milk/fruit and had coffee…

^^This Rest tomorrow and have a great time on Sunday! No doubt you can finish doing what you always do, plus the crowd and all the activity makes it go fast and fun. Let us know how it goes!
-
You are motivation for the rest of us! Absolutely amazing!
-
You look amazing! Thanks for sharing this and a huge Congrats to you for all you've accomplished!

Have you tried the Quest Protein Chips? They definitely don't taste like Lays but are much like the Baked Lays....and are super crunchy.
-
You were walking the same speed you jog? Seems like that would require a lot more effort....I'd be exhausted too! I've found when I do hill workouts on the treadmill (walking pace 4.0-4.2 mi/hr) it sometimes still "feels" easier to jog it, even uphill. Slower than my normal jogging pace, but seems to require less effort…

That's awesome! Sounds like you have made some great lifestyle changes...Congrats!!
-
I've had it happen the other way too if I go overboard on sodium, sugary treats or other processed carbs (like chips, baked goods, etc.)....the scale can show a 3-5lb gain overnight. Luckily when I get back on track it's gone in a few days!

Awesome! Congrats!!
