Cheese and milk! I just assumed they didn't have carbs... How wrong was I?!

Thank you for all the love everyone. It feels so amazing to not be alone! I feel sad that I put on a pair of well-fitting 27 inch waist shorts yesterday and didn't feel AMAZING in them. But inches don't lie and I need to reflect on that and give myself time to take it in. I think I have had a voice in my head for 20 years…

Thank you all so much! I'm going to start the mirror exercise tomorrow morning. My BF is 27% so I want to work on that - around 25 would be good I think. It is going down slowly though. I don't know what it is I don't like. I think I have a negative voice in my head (my mother's?) telling me I look bad. It doesn't happen…

Oh for reference I am around 50 carbs a day. That's probably average. Sometimes 30 sometimes 70. I intend to get less strict at maintenance and allow up to 100.

I lost about 14lbs with LC a year ago and went back to carbs. It was not a disaster but I did put most of the weight back on over 9-12 months. I wasn't happy so I went back to LC. I'll be sticking with it this time though.

Hmm. I imagine that it's because the body 'knows' it's starting to survive off stored fat and wants to remind you that that process can't go on indefinitely. It wants you to top up for quickly available energy! But because you are fat adapted you are able to ignore it for longer.

They worked wonderfully! Delicious and they keep forever.

I'm 9lbs from goal and trying to get my headspace ready too. When I'm 4lbs from goal I will slow from 1lb a week loss to 0.5lb and see if I continue losing. I am setting myself a 4lb range each side of my goal weight and if I go one or other side of that I will adjust my calories by 200 a day up or down for 2 weeks and see…

At the moment I'm loving 'quiche' which is (per portion) 2 whipped and seasoned eggs with a dash milk, 100g cream cheese, 120g chopped fish/bacon/ham/ whatever. Cooked for 45 mins. Amazing!!!

I agree Coconutty! I now ignore the first hunger pang on LC (I find my happy place is 20-45g a day) It goes really quickly and often doesn't come back for another 2-3 hours. I'm learning to be less scared of it but I have to say I always carry a little bag of jerky with me (it usually stays in my bag for six weeks before…

My way of dealing with it is to not eat till lunchtime. Then I can have two fatty, very satisfying meals and maybe a bite or two of my treat, very dark chocolate. I had to ease into this over a couple of months though.

You seem to be low on fat. Avocado and/or bacon I say. Eggs can be a good meal or snack.

I wish it were easier for you to quit all AS as that would be the easiest route by far :(

Welcome! Loads of great people on here. I don't weigh every day as it makes me a bit obsessive and I like to see a loss most times I weigh! LC is pretty easy these days and I manage to eat out a lot without any trouble. Good luck!
-
Yup, unless you feel particularly like you want to, I suggest for the sake of not going mad, to weigh only once a week. I weigh on a Monday or Tuesday, and then if I stayed the same as the previous week, again on the Friday. Usually if I've stayed the same on the Monday I'll have dropped a pound by the Friday.
-
Exactly that.

I do a rough version of 16-8 most days - i.e. I don't eat breakfast. It helps me have enough calories for the meals I do want to eat and I am losing a steady 1lb per week which is my aim. Good luck!
-
Yup, if you don't see a loss in 4 weeks then it's time to tweak. For now, keep your carbs to your predetermined max, calories to whatever MFP suggests for the amount you want to lose, and then just bed in and keep on going. Probably next week you will see the loss you were 'supposed' to have last week!

I try to stick to grams but give myself a little leeway if I did loads of exercise

Lovely answer coconutty. I think you are right about it taking time- it did for me too. I try to remind myself in hungry times that hunger is not something to be scared of! Although it does make me feel scared.

Impressed by your hard work!

My wedding is in just over 11 months and I plan to go dress shopping (or start dress shopping) in about a month to six weeks. We are having a church ceremony in a gorgeous 15th century country church and a garden party afterwards. I'm so excited! We plan to honeymoon in Vietnam and Cambodia right afterwards so this time…

My period has been early a few times and once it was a week late which caused me to freak out and do 2 pregnancy tests. My pre period hunger has been better since keto/LC although it was tough the first couple of months for sure. Hang in there. It gets better.

I agree it was an insensitive comment at best, possibly mean. I think the real takeaway though is that we all should try very hard to be resilient and not let another person's meanness make us go on a carb bender. There will always be mean people and our personal resilience is all we have. As therapists tell you, you can't…

I've done it on a couple of days when I was bloated and pre menstrual. It didn't make me feel very good especially as the weather is hot here.

You poor thing. If it was me I would pour the sweetener down the sink as it's seemingly only harming your body. I think even pure sugar would have less of an effect. I feel lucky I like my coffee black and unsweetened!
-
I agree. It's really good practice to fall off the wagon and climb back on. I would argue that the hard bit is not the losing weight, it's the sticking to the plan long term - and the most likely thing to get you off plan is a cheat that turns into a day which turns into a week which turns into a month. Learning early and…

After about 12 weeks I average just under a pound a week although it's definitely not linear. The beginning was fun losing a lot but it soon settles down.

I want to ask for a food processor for a wedding present - any recommendations gratefully received. I have a kitchen aid red blender so I'm not averse to having matching - but function over form!

Wow Goat, that's awesome. How much did you lose in that year? Was that pre ZC?
