While I love cardio, including running, cycling or spinning, it is YOGA that actually moves the weight from my body, and improves my muscle definition. I was VERY surprised when I discovered this after 1 month of no cardio due to ill health. I amped up on YOGA, and it made such a big difference. However, as I enjoy cardio…

Hi Tegan! Well done you for starting on the journey :) . Kmanr has offered some great advice. The other thing to consider is that dieting may impact your absorption of thyroid meds...so keeping a diary of how you are feeling is also a great idea so that you can work with your docs to make sure all tracks along as you need…

I saw your latest posts on Inspire. Sounds like you have had a rough time of it :/ . It seems that RAI is the cause of my woes this year. Having both T4 and T3 makes life easier, as I can easily adjust T3 depending on how I feel. My muscle issues move around, compared to pre-RAI when most of my issues sat in my hip flexors…

Hi Kmanr Have you started with T3? LJP
-
I think the trick is taking enough T3 for it to have an effect. There is also a ramp up period for T3, and corresponding ramp down with T4 (the T4 ramp down is associated with your boddy processing it. You can drop the T4 immediately, no ramp down in dose required). I wouldn't udnerestimate this either, particularly if you…

Hey! I now have a GP who understands what is going on! Nothing like family perspective to engender understanding :) I feel better already, just knowing that there is a professional out there who can help. Am now on the journey of stabilising the new meds :) and looking forwards to living again.

Hey Kmanr! That is great news :) It is a fight for your life, and only you can be motivated to fight it, 'cause no one else will do it for you >:) I felt quite threatened (amongst many other things) when I discovered that the Endo would not help me. I very quickly moved on to plans B to E inclusive after that :)

I have issues when I am fatigued. I have cravings when my bloods are really off kilter, such as too high FT4. Becasue I am so hypo (low FT3) at present, I am stacking on weight just looking at food. So far, in the last year I have added 3kg and gone up a size, not seen since ~6 years ago. It is hard work carrying the…

Hi Kamnr I hope you enjoyed DJ Dave? His "Wholefoods Store" rap is equally funny! I lived in Vancouver, Canada for 3.5 years and used to shop at one of them, so can fully relate :D Most Aussies wouldn't know what he is on about! On a Yoga note, the studio I am a member at is having a 2h workshop for athletes this weekend,…

Working out is my counter-balance on many fronts - including food!!! And I miss it if I do not get my workout fix :)

Hi melissa! I definitely have my weakness for food full stop :D ! Do you find that if you are tired, that it is much harder to control/manage the cravings? I know that yesterday was a ridiculously long day for me, as I started early and had meetings which did not finish until 9pm. I planned my food, but still managed to…

So far, I am going to have to start again with a new Endo. My GP has no experience with Tertroxin. I am hoping her colleagues do, but if not, the earliest I can see the new Endo is July. I can do this. I am working through my plan of action :#

Hi Kmanr. You give me hope that this degeneration (brain fog) is recoverable! Thank you :) It has been a very stressful year on the medical front so far :( . I have always read the posts on the thyca site where others have discussed their Endo issues, and felt very confused at the illogical approach of these so called…

OMG, that is so me re people/speech/brain fog. It is great to hear form both of you on this. Melissa, you definitely have it much harder with your constant interaction with people! Unfortunately kmanr, the brain fog can return. It is a side effect of the Hashi's. But if your T3 is not right, and your T4 is also off, it can…

I have always been an insomniac - waking up at least 2 x per night for as long as I can remember. A bad night is 4 x. I can normally get back to sleep, but there is still a time lag. I am normally up between 5-5.30am to start the day, and hence crash out very early! The fatigue on top of that does not help at all.
-
The brain fog is tough. Am about to discuss alternate med combinations with my specialist to try and address that (and a few of the other, less fun side effects of below average T3).

I agree re social aspect...but am not too fussed as I primarily use the app to track, not socialise! In 5 years, this would be the first time that I have really given this aspect more of a go  I look forward to being able to chat with like minded thyca people!

A trampoline would be much lower impact, and not as stressful on your body! Even better than an elliptical. Have you also tried stationary bike classes ie spinning etc? This is low impact too, and less impact than riding around outside (which is always better, but not always an option!).

Hi all... I do not normally review posts on this app, as thyca has such a great community (on inspire.com). If you are not already active on that site, I encourage anyone to check it out. It has a wealth of information and support. Personnaly, I had two thyroid surgeries in 2012 and RAI late 2014. I struggle with my…
