I definitely hear you on that. If I just ate "until I'm full" at every meal and snacked as much as I wanted, I'd be right back where I started, and it would happen fast. I also tend to forget about snacks I ate during the day, so I try to keep my snacks small and at a frequency that I don't forget about any of them. I do…

Yeah, for sure. I try to weigh no more than once a week and just keep an eye on the trend. As long as I'm staying in a 5 lb. range of my "normal" weight one way or another, I'm fine. Above or below that and I start getting concerned. But my body just feels different when I've been eating more than I should, so I can spot…

Thanks! That's exactly the stuff I want to know to watch out for, so I appreciate your comments. I'm the exact same way as far as being a creature of habit with what I eat, so I try to make sure my dinners have a lot of different items, especially green vegetables--I tend to skip those if I don't make a conscious effort to…

Yeah--I realize it's a bit soon. I am still keeping track of calories in my head too. I try to keep my breakfast and lunch each to about 500 calories, and then I know that I have anywhere between 500 and 1000 to play with at dinner depending on how hungry I am. I also never go nuts on my cheat days--it usually translates…

I do it just like this. I got to my goal of 175 lbs. several months ago, and I allow myself anywhere between 175 and 180, as I can fluctuate that much from day to day anyway. If I'm consistently up by 180, I raise the deficit for a few days just to see if that gets me back down to where I should be. To the OP--by the time…

I weighed in this morning and was at 173 lbs. That's 2 lbs. lighter than what I was when I started maintenance. I haven't been trying to lose more weight, but I have been trying to not go right up to the limit of my maintenance calories. Some days I'm up to 200 calories shy of maintenance because I'm just not hungry enough…
-
Well, it's been a little over 3 weeks of maintenance for me. I didn't do anything fancy like reverse dieting or any of that. I just put MFP on maintenance and decided to see what happens and go from there. Starting weight when I originally posted this thread? 175 lbs. Weight this morning? 175 lbs. I have literally done…

I have been eating at or below maintenance for about a week and my weight is fluctuating up and down between 175 and 177, which I'm totally ok with. I'm trying to get more regular exercise in too, now that I have a better chance of building up some muscle. I use an AirDyne AD-6 exercise bike, which works the upper AND…

Thank you! Your story is very encouraging. I envision that's probably about the way it's going to go for me too. With some of the pressure off to stay at or under 1900 calories a day, I feel a lot more relaxed and less neurotic about what I eat during the day. I'm still sticking very strictly to my food log in MFP, but I…

I know that feeling for sure. I've been at the .5 lb per week mark for several months now. It's like a last stepping stone toward maintenance, but it does still work for weight loss. I actually lost faster than what MFP said I would. I think it was in February where I lost 4 lbs during the month when I really should have…

I'm finding that maintenance suits me. The guilt and worry I feel about eating more calories per day--completely unfounded. First of all I'm finding that just having the OPTION to eat those extra couple hundred calories a day is really nice, even if I don't necessarily eat all of them. I think my diet fatigue wasn't so…

Thank you! I've been on maintenance for just a couple of days now, and the biggest difference has just been that I can have either two bigger snacks during the day or three smaller snacks. I like the little bit of extra freedom I have. At the same time, I feel like I'm being even more rigid with what I eat because I am not…

Yeah, I just finished a round of PT over the summer and she gave me a whole folder of stuff to do and a list of things to stay away from. It helped, but I may go and see her again for some more specific advice.

MFP estimates it at that. Sometimes I lose it faster than that, sometimes slower. I tend to go in spurts.

Thanks! Yes, I've been off of my cardio routine for the last month or so because of my stupid back, so my first goal will be to get back on my bike or the Airdyne when weather doesn't cooperate. I discovered the other day that I can now do five chin-ups, which is crazy, because even as a kid I could never even do one! So…

I'm actually AT goal now--hit it a few days ago. I did the work. By all measures I'm done with the "losing" part. If I never went back to a deficit but stayed at maintenance, I'd be a healthy weight. Which is why it's silly for me to stress about it. I'm going to continue logging, using my food scale, and keeping track of…

I know the feeling. I don't think I've ever worked at anything harder than I have at losing weight, yet when I reached my goal weight after about a year and PROVED to myself that I had the mindset, the desire, and the willpower to do it, I'm still beating myself up for stopping. I've done some research using some of the…

I've been eating 1900 a day for the last several months. When I go over, it's usually by only about 20 or 30 calories at the most. For me, MFP translates that to .5 lbs of weight loss a week. When I switch it to maintenance, I now have 2150 a day to eat. It feels a little better to know that I have a little more to work…

Yes, and I think with the nice weather coming, I feel like I can combat the couple hundred extra calories with more outdoor activity and exercise. I have no plans to ever be overweight again if I can help it.

All useful suggestions and insights--thanks everyone!

Good to know--I think aside from ripping my floors out and redoing them again, my memory foam Skechers are going to be the best solution. :)

Well, I do, but this doesn't feel like that kind of issue. It just feels like the bottom of my foot is bonier. Just like how my butt has less padding now that I'm much smaller, so hard chairs and bleachers hurt my butt because I can actually feel my bones hitting the thing I'm sitting on. The foot thing I'm feeling feels…

I have the day off today, so I'm going over to the mall to get my wedding ring resized.......AGAIN. I foolishly had it done once before when I was down about 50 lbs., but now that I'm down almost 75 lbs., my ring is actually falling off my finger and dropping to the ground. I hope they can do a second resizing on it! I…

When I got to the point where I started eating 1900 a day, that was .5 lbs. per week for me, though it doesn't really translate that way in the real world. I hang on to weight for a week or two, and then I know I'm about to whoosh down a pound or two when I start peeing a lot more frequently even when I haven't had…

Isn't it crazy? I've lost the weight of my 3rd grader. Sometimes when people ask me how much I've lost, I tell them to try picking up my oldest son for an exact demonstration. Conversely, I was hugging my wife the other day, and she picked ME up off the ground. And she's much shorter and smaller than me.

I had this published on iMore.com today if anyone feels like reading a little more of the story: http://www.imore.com/how-apple-watch-helped-me-lose-weight-and-feel-great

Not at all! 1. I started on May 1, 2015 at 250 lbs and I hit 177 lbs less than a week ago. 2. It was mostly due to reduced calories. I love biking and walking for exercise, but my degenerative disc disease and psoriatic arthritis sometimes have other ideas, so I have to be careful to not overdo it. 3. Sure!

I have noticed this too--I've had the exact same change in my bathroom "patterns". I do think it will probably change again once I start a maintenance plan, but for now I figure I'm just not eating enough to need to use the bathroom that often, and I'm DEFINITELY not eating the awful things I used to eat when I weighed 250…

I was super careful about what I ate at Disney World (didn't log) and still gained 4 or 5 lbs. Going by how fast it came off, it was probably a lot of water weight, but still. If you too nuts, expect a big difference when you get home. A week vacation in Florida set me back about a month and a half. But I had a great time…
