I used to drink a lot of Red Bull and Diet Coke back in the day. I would go from coffee straight to those every day. I was never worried about the caffeine--it's a pretty safe substance. I got worried about all the other stuff that was in those drinks. I definitely still have a caffeine addiction, and I will stop drinking…

Yep--we just weigh everything and do all the math, and then save that recipe in MFP so we don't have to do it all again next time. Not only has the food scale opened my eyes to how much I was overeating, but has also shown me how much of a ripoff some brands of things can be. For example--I eat a lot of greek yogurt so we…

So I've upped my goal to 1/2 lb a week--for my height/weight that translates to about 1900 calories a day. I've been doing that for the last 3 or 4 days, and suddenly this morning, I whooshed down 2 lbs. after an almost 3 week period of losing nothing. I am still finding that when it's colder outside, I crave hot, fatty…

The last time I got into this situation, I ended up upping my calories from losing 2 lbs. a week to just losing 1 lb. a week. I weigh and measure everything I eat and if I go over for the day, it's usually only by about 50 calories or so. Since I'm just a little over 10 lbs. away from my final goal of 175, I'm thinking I…

I have my weight loss set to 1 lb. a week, so that comes out to a little over 1700 calories a day. I've thought about taking it down to 1/2 lb. a week, but I'm reluctant to do that, because I've already been stuck at 187 lbs. for the last 2 weeks. I have been doing a cheat meal once a week, and for that one meal it does…

I have brief plateaus quite often. If your logging is correct and you're maintaining a defecit, the plateau will end, and you will probably whoosh down a few lbs. when it does. If your logging is incorrect, the plateau will never end.

I can tell you this much--Taco Bell is the only fast food place I will still eat, and I go there once every couple of weeks as a treat. I usually get the #8 (3 non-supreme tacos) with a diet whatever and if I'm super hungry I'll add in a double decker taco. Compared to what I eat day to day, this is a little higher calorie…

I think there are two elements to it: 1. Some people just want to look like that now. You can blame it on the Kardashians or whatever if you want, but that's just the way it is. You don't have to like that look if you don't want to, but just know that women aren't obliged to care what you think the ideal physique is--they…

250 before, 189 after, currently 187.

I got a lot of flack when I started out eating 1500 a day. I felt totally fine, and didn't even feel especially hungry at night--I was just eating smaller, more protein rich meals and that kept me feeling nourished and energetic for a long time. Most people here were very encouraging, but there were also ALWAYS people…

I had a burger and fries at Red Robin yesterday--first time in MONTHS--and even though I didn't go over my calories for the day, I felt like garbage afterwards. Oddly enough, I hit a new low in weight this morning!

I eat everything I want, but just a lot less of it. I've lost 61 lbs.

Is that an Apple Watch you're wearing? I got my Apple Watch on May 1st and have lost 61 lbs. since then. I'm not really paying attention to the rings anymore since I'm pretty close to my fitness goal and no longer need it to try to motivate me to be healthy, but it was a very important tool in my transformation. (And now I…

Not a small success at all--that's HUGE! Definitely something to celebrate. I remember the day I hit the non-obese range and it feels great for sure. You are now bucking the trend of obesity, which is a great thing. Living in the US, I have noticed that as I continue to decrease my weight and body fat percentage, I'm now…

Thank you for all the nice comments. Couldn't have done it without support like this on MFP.

Whenever I tell people that, they don't believe me. There MUST be something else you're doing. One of my wife's relatives assumed I lost all this weight solely because I "must have started lifting weights". It always has to be something.

I have it. I started my weight loss on the day I got it. The rings helped me greatly. All I've ever used is the stock Workout app paired with MFP. And to be honest, I don't pay attention to the rings anymore. I'm pretty close to my goal weight and I already do all the things that the rings were designed to get you in the…

Thank you!

haha--thanks! and YES GO CUBBIES!

Food scale was the best decision I ever made regarding the weight loss process. Not only does it keep you honest, but also teaches you how incredibly inaccurate packaging labels and measuring cups are. You can't eyeball it. Weighing is the only way. Great example: I eat a lot of plain Greek yogurt. I call it my "mush". I…

Same experience I've had. With 19 lbs. left to go to hit my goal, my loss has slowed way down, but I still get a monthly woosh and it's glorious. I use a food scale, so I know my intake is correct. Just stick with the plan and let your body do the rest.

If you're just working out and not keeping track of what you eat, you are highly unlikely to lose weight. Logging your food might sound like lunacy, but you have to do it, and you have to be meticulous about it. Not only does it result in weight loss, but it also helps you plan out meals and snacks. To make it even easier…

I was kind of stupid about my ring--it was literally falling off my finger a few months ago, so I went and had it resized. I should have just taken it off and waited for awhile, because as I continue to drop weight the ring is getting loose again. I'm not sure that they'll be willing to resize it again. I'll have to try…

Just as an update--I have been at 1700 calories a day for the last 3 days. My mood has improved, my energy is back up, and the number on the scale is starting to go down again. My instincts were telling me that this was a bad decision and that I would start putting weight back on, but that's only because I'm so used to how…

As long as you know the calorie content of your Cuban food, you can still eat it. The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you eat. Doesn't necessarily matter what kind of food it is, just matters how much.

I'm increasing my calories, but lifting is out of the question right now--still in bi-weekly physical therapy for 2 severely bulging discs in my lower back, and I have bad shoulders as well. My joints are kind of a mess because I have psoriatic arthritis and degenerative discs in my back. But more calories did feel good…

I agree totally. I'm not 100% happy with my body yet and I'm not at my goal yet, but I am definitely happy that I look and feel a lot better than I did at 250 lbs. and that I'm buying size L shirts instead of size XXL shirts. I really am enjoying being smaller, so I have come to terms with the fact that it doesn't matter…

I started out on the elliptical and used to love feeling like I was sweating off the pounds, but after I bought my bike, the elliptical was just not cutting it anymore. I'd much rather exercise outside when possible. The elliptical largely goes unused for now, but the cold months are coming soon, so I think that will…

If I'm going to judge it by how yesterday went--at the end of the day when we were getting ready for bed, my wife said, "I'm SO GLAD you upped your goal to 1700 calories." That was her way of saying, "You've been a nightmare to be around for the last few days." I felt much better after dinner as well, and did not go to bed…
