You inspired me. I spent a solid 1/2 hour walking around the house today while multi-tasking.

+1 If you continue to be hungry, you may want to decrease your deficit or switch out your macros to increase ratio of fat or protein. Increased fiber helps me feel fuller. One more tip, to make sure you are not mistaking thirst for hunger, drink more water or other low/no calorie liquid.

As for the voices in your head, when the negative tape starts playing say to yourself stop, delete, escape or some other word and then say to yourself, out loud if need be, I am smart, I am healthy, I am strong.

I have a MFP friend who can only exercise at home. She has lost over 64 pounds and does "Leslie Sansone Walk Away the Pounds" where she walks or jogs in place, dancing, a "chair gym" work out, and stationary bike. Many people don't leave their home to exercise. Walk tall down the hall, up the stairs or in place and you…

My recommendation is patient persistence. For many different reasons our bodies can hold on to water that can mask a weight loss. Keep at it for at least a month before you make any adjustments, my guess is in the next few days you will have a whoosh of weight loss. Congrats on your 64 pound loss!

I hate to see that silly message, because I have never had an identical day let alone 35 in a row. I never click on the finished for the day so I don't have to see that nonsense.

^ This! @tincanonastring, that is quite the trim you did. Is that how you broke your plateau?

I log everything that has calories or nutrition. I am all in for the health when it comes to eating. I like to make sure I am getting enough vitamin A and C and those are hard to track if you don't log fruits and vegetables.

Not the pound I hoped for, but maybe 1/4 pound. I was told by a nurse that your true weight would be fasted, 2-4 hours after waking, and naked. Who has time for all that?

Most trainers recommend at least one rest day a week. I do 6 days of cardio and 3 weight training with at least one day to recover between each weight workout. If you are lifting heavy you need a day in between sessions to rest and repair muscles.

Started strong lifts 5X5 last week. Never lifted before, but I am loving it.

Layers are key for me. Glove with mittens, hat or head band with hood, and jacket over hoodie. In Nebraska the wind makes keeping warm challenging. Today it was sunny, windy with temperatures just below freezing. I needed to cover my nose and mouth when walking into the wind but was fine without when the wind was at my…

Being in menopause, I am so grateful to not have periods. My daughter gets a shot for birth control that also eliminates her period.

This happened to me, when I was in my early 20's. I went to the doctor, he gave me a hormone shot and things went back to "my" normal. OP, I frequently had long cycles throughout my reproductive years, because I was not ovulating on a regular basis. There were tests done and nothing specific was wrong. It was difficult for…

I don't know a single person who doesn't hate it. I know women who use medication to avoid it. I know women who can't wait until menopause. Perhaps some women welcome it just for the reassurance that they are not pregnant, but the relief is gone by the second trip to the bathroom.

This article is an example of the reason why I don't get weight loss advice from magazines. The facts are misrepresented in my opinion.

There is a space like that on the exercise page. Mine is open to friends. The critique I would get would be the whole not weighing in grams showing up. I have a conversion calculator in a spread sheet, for other measurements to grams, so I get some pretty strange looking diary entries. For example if 1/2 cup weighs 59…

I do not remember not knowing about nutrition. I was in 4-H by age nine and learning about the 4 food groups, I remember being pregnant and learning about the first incarnation of the food pyramid, Weight Watchers taught me how to read a food label all before the advent of smart phone apps. So I can not comment on needing…

How is trying and giving up on calorie counting more harmful than not trying to count calories? If you eat it or don't eat it, and don't count it, you are still eating or not eating a thing. An app isn't going to change your health, what you are eating will change your health.

I logged and had a surplus of 5280 for the week. It wasn't the food that bothered me, but the feelings that resulted in eating it. I hope I learned something from reflecting. I am not beating myself up because I have a couple additional pounds to lose, but I realize that I still have some work to do regarding my…

I am 54, 5'3", I hope I never go back to 237 where I started last March, but if I did...I would also begin some strength training with my walking. I walked and walked last spring and summer, but I had some injuries because I was under using some muscles and over using others. I needed to wake those lazy ones up with…

J cup here and the front closure Enell or Glamorise Full figure bra has worked for me. They are expensive so I buy only one or two as I lose. I have been losing band inches followed by cup inches so I can alter to tighten up band to increase use. I hate under wires.

I will continue doing 5 miles walking/running 6 days a week until I am at goal weight and may cut in half then. I have started Stronglifts 5X5. I am testing to see if this really is enough for strength.

The low bar was more comfortable for me, and I was less wobbly today. Thanks OP for asking and thanks to all the good advice.

The only times I have been successful at weight loss, is when I have counted calories. I was counting calories before MFP, but like MFP because it does the math for me. I have taken a multi-vitamin in the past when eating at a deficit but have found that I am much happier and feel better when I get my nutrients from food.…

I am 5'3" and weighed 237 in March, I was treating with medication, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I had been using a CPAP for almost a year. I then had an elevated A1C. My physician did not suggest bypass surgery but we agreed that I needed to make some changes. I began monitoring my carb…

I am certain my 5 lb gain over two days is mostly water. I ingested an enormous quantity of salt in comparison to my usual low sodium intake. Chinese food on Christmas Eve and ham on the day. I am hoping some is due to carb loading too. I am losing rapidly as I flush out the excess.
-
I am a wobbler too. Thanks for asking this.

Thanks for all the comments. I set myself up. The trip to the gym, broke the cycle. I really need to find some non-food related traditions to start next year.

I assumed that was the magazine issue date and not the article date.
