I am 5'2" and sedentary and over 200 lbs. When I walked 3-5 miles a day and ate at 1500 I lost at about 2lbs a week. Then at about 180 I began to lose at a slower rate. The more you lose the slower it will go.

A couple of weeks ago I was really hungry. I tried to tough it out but I was miserable. Then 2 days I ate at maintenance, then went back to a calorie deficit. I still lost weight that week. I was scared I would fail. I found it was temporary. I give myself permission to occasionally eat above my calorie goal but not above…

I am on Zoloft, Lamictal and Abilify and have been losing weight at rate consistent with my deficit. I lost and gained weight on Paxil. I gained weight when my depression was not controlled. I therefore choose to blame the depression and not the medications for the weight gains. No matter which medication I was on, walking…

OP, I am confused. Are you trying to lose fat or gain muscle? It is very difficult, some say impossible, to do both at the same time. 1200 is probably too low, if that is truly what you were eating, but a jump up 800 calories may be too much to lose weight.
-
The metabolism factor is a myth. And even if it were not it would be by definition included in TDEE or total daily energy expenditure.

I have been on Abilify since before my current weight loss of over 25 lbs since January. I have gained and lost weight on several medications for depression. You will not gain weight if you don't eat more than you burn. Count your calories to lose or maintain.
-
Don't reduce your calories any lower, your loss may slow down but you will be healthier. Congratulations on your progress so far.

Weight loss happens in the kitchen and fitness in the gym. If you want to lose weight you have to reduce your calorie intake. Eating "clean" doesn't make a difference in weight. It is your calorie intake that counts toward weight loss. Put your stats into mfp and your goal and then eat the calories it tells you to. Measure…

I have officially lost exactly 10 pounds during this challenge. SW-216.4 CW-206.4 Keeping on keeping on until Easter. I wanted to be down to 200 by Easter but that doesn't look realistic now.

I saw my Psychiatrist today and she reminded me that exercise can aid in helping you feel better. She said Doctors recommend 3 times a week for cardio health but for mental health 5-7 days. When I was walking an hour 6 days a week my appetite decreased. When my meds are not working right it is almost impossible for me to…

I have lost and gained weight on SSRI's. I am currently taking Zoloft and Abilify, both of which can increase appetite and I am losing weight at the anticipated rate for my caloric deficit. Weigh and track all your foods to make sure you are eating less then you are burning and you will lose weight. For me the depression…

Are you talking about the one in a tube or what comes from using a tanning bed?

Mini goals help me to stay motivated. I set a reasonable goal, record my progress. When I reach that goal I just sit back and look at it enjoying the evidence. These could be scale or non-scale victories. Exercise goals, inches goals, accurate tracking goals and everyday I eat at a deficit goal. Today I ate at my calorie…
seafoods have a whole host of beneficial nutrients.
It is advisable to abstain from shell fish while pregnant as mercury levels can be high. Every medical professional I have ever spoken to, warns against dieting for weight loss during pregnancy. As a diabetic I limit carbs to 60 grams per meal. That is…

I have both gained weight and lost weight on Paxil. I lost weight when I tracked on MFP at a rate expected for my deficiate. When the Paxil stopped working, I stopped tracking and gained weight. I am now on a three drug combination to control my depression. I am tracking and losing. The difference is tracking! IMHO it is…

^^^ This was very informative, more protein, more diet breaks, more heavy lifting, less aerobic exercise.

It is by percentage of body weight. The fee is nominal.

My first reaction to this news report was disbelief. I found the study lacking in the kind of data used. I also paid attention to the article because I am a stroke survivor and I drink on average 2 diet sodas a day. When I had my strokes I was morbidly obese, had a sedentary lifestyle, untreated sleep apnea, and…

Personally I have lost and gained weight on SSRI's. When they are working well and I am feeling normal, I lose weight. If they have lost their effectiveness like Paxil did for me, I gained weight. When I am depressed I don't care about my health, I don't feel like exercising, and eat for comfort. I did therapy for years…

I lost a ton of weight while on Paxil. I gained weight when Paxil, stopped working, because I didn't care. I'm on a 3 pill combo now. I am feeling much better and am losing weight. If my depression/anxiety is under control or not has more to do with my ability to lose weight than the medication.

Last time I lost weight, I was doing lots of cardio and lifting. I was hungry all the time. I definitely stalled out if I wasn't meticulous with weighing and logging all my foods.

Your body can only metabolize a certain amount of fat in a day and then it would begin to use muscle for fuel. Since this is not a real person we can't know for sure but I am thinking someone as active as that is pretty fit and would have a lower body fat percentage. The lower the body fat, the lower the max deficit would…

You are doing great! Most physicians would agree that 1-2 pounds a week is a healthy rate of loss. I get a lot of crazy advice. The only time I received more "suggestions" on how to do something was when I was pregnant. Trust the MFP community they will help you keep your goals realistic and will shoot down the myths.

I do percentages of weight loss. I lost 5% of my starting weight about a week and a half ago. My next goal is to be at 10% by Easter. After that onederland by Memorial day.

I lost a bunch of weight three years ago and it came off pretty fast 1-2 pounds a week. I gained it back. This time I am doing things a bit differently and it may be a little slower going but I don't feel like I am denying myself all the time. If I go over my goal by a few calories of even eat at maintenance for a day, I…

It sucks to see gains when you want to see losses. I do a spread sheet, with a trending graph and average weight loss by week. When my weight goes up or stays the same, I look at the trend or the averages. My weight has increased or stayed the same for five days in a row as of today. My spread sheet assures me that I am…

When there is any loss, water is always involved. What happens to the fat when it is burned? When you metabolize fat you end up with carbon dioxide, water and energy. The carbon dioxide we exhale and the water we give up in the usual ways. When we store food as glycogen, water is involved. This is why we can see a gain…
