Amazing, inspiring story! Thanks for sharing. I am just starting with the TRX, I played around with it earlier, but it is part of my routine now.

I wish this gigantic thread could be split in three, one for the discussions of what comprises CICO and the acronyms that are included in the CO; one for, the rare medically dangerous, thing that shall not be named; and the one Carol actually titled.

According to Gallup's Clifton Strength Finder. WOO is an acronym for winning others over. http://www.gallup.com/businessjournal/721/woo.aspx

Depends where you want to see it. In my grocery chart, immediately. On the scale I saw results in a week. In my disposition, one month. In my strength one month. On the tape measure 3 months. In my endurance three months. In my closet about 4 months, I started weeding things out. In my blood tests, 5 months.

Not only survived but am thriving. I am losing weight, getting fit, and most important of all I feel great emotionally and physically. Is it because I am losing weight, eating nutritionally dense low processed food, walking 5 miles 6 days a week or strength training 3 times a week? Cause or effect? We are complex.

The first chronic condition I had that needed medication was anxiety based depression with PTSD. The disorders gave me the desire to gain weight. I began therapy which I continued for the better part of two decades. The medications for those psychological disordered had a side effect of insomnia, enter next medication. The…

Seems this thread has been derailed.

It is perfectly average for one's weight to fluctuate 5 or more pounds one way or the other due to water. The human body is a complex thing and there are no hard and fast rules about water weight gain or loss. There are typical causes like, TOM, salt intake, glycogen, new work outs. What is not average is obsessing about…

It's a conspiracy? Involving every country with an obesity problem? That is extremely difficult for me to think this is possible.

Meal timing doesn't matter for weight loss. The key is to eat fewer calories than you burn. If you have 1500 calories, eat it all in one meal, or 500 each, and the weight loss will be the same. Time your meals. how many, how much, how often, so you feel satisfied and keep your energy up. What works for me might not work…

It has no rhyme or reason to me. I have one younger sister and one oldest brother who have always been trim. Myself and my other brother, the middle children, have struggled with weight. None of us were overweight when we graduated from high school. I have three children, one loves dairy, fish and chicken, one loves red…

Over the long term, under eating can cause hair loss, lean muscle loss, menstrual cycle disruptions, and gallstones to name a few. If it isn't a consistent thing then little worries. If you are consistently under eating it is considered a disorder.

That flow chart was created by @lemonlionheart , it would be nice if people credited her when they copy and post.

I can only speak for myself, but being overweight felt safe for me. I was not overweight as a teen. I became overweight as a young adult and yo-yo through to my 50's. When I lost weight in the past and some man gave me the once over, I went into a panic attach. When I gained weight, I became invisible. I am 100% certain it…

I do this as well. I keep my daily weights in a excel spread sheet with other data. I love data! I can make many different graphs from that data including a trend line.

I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, so I watch my carbs. I eat a moderate amount of carbs, most are in whole grains, vegetables, and fruits. When it comes to carbs I choose those with a significant amount of fiber. That fiber along with adequate protein help me to stay full. With the Keto or really low carb diets, higher…

No need to know your current weight if you are certain you are obese, do the TDEE method. It works as well or better than any of the online calculators.
-
Probably not, but if you are walking that much and eating about 1600 calories a day, you could be there in less than three months.

Great work! Best wishes for maintenance and possible surgeries to come. Having stuck with the process for 3 years should give you the confidence needed to stay healthy and looking good.

Take it how ever you would like, I'd ask some follow-ups, but this isn't the correct forum.

Gas and bloating would be my guess.

I'd say more like aqua-man. Can I ride your sea horse?

That is what MFP was made for. go to Food tab, than choose data base and search for the entry that most closely matches your food label or choose usda entry. Are you weighing it as cooked or dry brown rice? 100 grams cooked has 26 carbs, 100 grams uncooked would have a great deal more. ETA: If you are being selective and…

Short for macro-nutrient measured in grams, they are protein, carbohydrate, and fat. Micro-nutrients measured in milligrams such as vitamins and minerals.

Get enough protein (1 gram for every pound of lean body mass) and add some strength training to lose mostly fat and preserve lean muscle.

I had a three or four small candies yesterday (still ate at a deficit). The scale showed a loss this morning, rewarding me for my restraint. I am very glad I force myself out to the gym yesterday.

In my experience, when it comes to weight loss, quick results (i.e. unrealistic expectations) are almost always a recipe for failure. Success for me is not how quick it is out of the gate, but how long does it last. I am looking for people to tell me stories of how they lost it and kept it off.

So after this "fast 5+" period is over, I hope your daily calorie intake increases, as 1200 calories is not enough for a male. Good work adding in the walking, it is so good for you.
