  • Yes, when I started drinking a magnesium supplement before bed, I found that I am a lot more regular.
  • I work 40 hours a week at a desk job. I get up about once an hour to get more water from the fountain, go to the bathroom, grab something to eat, etc. I'm 5'5, 25 years old. Started around 160 lb, currently right around 130 lb. I stuck to the deficit MFP provided for me, and ate some but not all of my exercise calories…
  • Mine is open, if you'd like to add me.
  • There are some "buttery spreads" I use that I like, and I think they take the place of butter very well. Smart Balance is one, Earthly (or Earth's?) Choice I think is the name of another. Also, I'm in the US.

  • The Natural Vitality magnesium is what I use too. About 2 teaspoons at night a little before bed, mixed with a cup of water. (The label says to work your way up to that amount- I started with like half a teaspoon.) So far, I have not noticed any side effects. The lemon/raspberry one is fairly tasty, if you prefer to have…
  • Not sure if this helps, but I'm 5'5, 130 lbs. I was about 140, and wanted to lose about 10 lbs. I set my account to lose .5 lb/week and it gave me a little over 1400 cal per day, without exercise, set at sedentary because I have a desk job. I lost the weight sticking to that, and eating back about half my exercise calories.
  • I'm on a generic daily pill, I think it's called Trinessa? I was on the pill when I gained weight, but I had been on it for a couple of years and was slim, so it's not the pill that's to blame. I lost weight on the pill as well, and I never felt as though it was 'harder' or I was 'struggling' because I was on bc.
  • I make a grocery list and I stick to it. I may buy one or two things that weren't on the list, but for the most part I've figured an estimate in my head of how much I'm going to spend, and I don't want to really blow that budget.
  • I'm a pretty picky eater as well. Spinach in a smoothie is undetectable to me. I chop it up in a food processor then freeze it into cubes with some water, and add like 4 cubes to a smoothie/shake. Could also add a few cubes to marinara sauce or something like that. Zucchini is great for me because I can't really taste it…
  • To be 100% honest, my main reason for losing weight to begin with was because I was getting married, and I was NOT going to be a bride who others thought looked bad in her dress. Also, I didn't want to look back on my wedding pictures later and wish that I had been more motivated to look good on my special day. Now, I want…
  • I agree with those who have said not to put too much emphasis on your daily steps. Overall fitness/health can be maintained without reaching a specific step goal every day. That being said, when I lost most of my weight, I was walking around 10,000 steps/day, and that was my main source of exercise. I have an hour lunch…
  • Salmon is awesome, but you don't really know how much you're consuming if you don't weigh it. Grams are the most accurate unit of measurement. Cups and spoons should be used for liquids.
  • Do your kiddos do laps or any sort of jogging or working out at practice? Even if it's just a warm up for them, you could join them, and burn a few calories while possibly encouraging them to push themselves. If you can get up at 5am and go work out, that would be an awesome start to your day. If you have to force yourself…
  • You are welcome to add me if you would like. I do eat chicken and turkey, and lots of other foods. Some of my meals are built in the recipe section, some you will probably be able to tell how it was put together by the ingredients that I logged. I weigh all solids, so it's either logged as grams, or logged as a serving,…
  • I personally do not experience this, so take the tidbit with a grain of salt, but I have heard the comment from a few different people that bananas sometimes increase the urge to "go." On the other hand, they are part of the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, apple sauce, toast) that is recommended for people who have had stomach…
  • When I'm going to drink, I'm going to drink. I don't do it often, but when I do, it's probably not going to be just one. So I get you on that level. I have learned that drinking sugary drinks, while that's the type of drinks I really enjoy, make me feel sooo much worse the next day, and of course have way more calories. I…
  • When I started my weight loss journey? I looked at myself in the mirror and really took in what I saw, and wasn't happy with it. Then I tried on wedding dresses because I was newly engaged, and I fell in love with a dress, but I knew that I did not want to look like I did then, on my wedding day. I also just didn't feel…
  • One to not try- Sunwarrior Vanilla. It tastes like what I imagine raw pancake batter tastes like...
  • I don't have a lot of friends on here, so I don't really worry about who is reading my diary. If someone happens to find inspiration from my diary, then that is wonderful. If someone were to delete me over what I eat... well, okay then. I guess I opened it because I felt someone might want to peruse it, and really what do…
  • Sometimes I think that I am ravenous and could eat a whole lot, so I plan for a lot of food (within my caloric budget.) But, sometimes when I sit down to eat, I feel full before I've finished the meal. I don't force myself to finish the meal just because I've weighed/measured/logged it, or just because it's there and I've…
  • Already married, but just wanted to congratulate you! My wedding was my biggest motivator to lose weight and become a more fit, healthy version of myself.
  • Chicken breast in the crock pot covered with salsa. Once it's cooked through, shred the chicken with a fork. You can use it in burritos/burrito bowls, tacos, on a salad, by itself, etc. You can keep half in the fridge to eat within the next few days, and freeze the other half, or however you'd like to do it. I also find…
  • You CAN do this. You just have to find the motivation within yourself. (You will probably hear that a lot as a response to this post.) Anyone can tell you how to lose weight, what worked for them, etc. YOU have to want to make the changes, and stick with them, to be successful. And you most certainly can do that.…
  • I find 40g oats with 12g chia seeds, almond milk, and protein powder to be pretty filling. But, like others have already said, I think it's personal preference.
  • Following, I am having this issue with my Alta. I have updated both apps, and also unconnected then reconnected my device to MFP.
  • If I want a snack that falls into the "junk food" category, I start by looking at the nutrition facts. Sometimes that's enough to make me think "Nope, not worth it today." If it is worth it, I measure out an appropriate amount- sometimes this is one serving, sometimes it's a half serving, etc. Then I take my treat to…
  • Clothing can be tricky. Sizes vary so much depending on the style of the clothing and the brand. At my heaviest I was probably about a 10 juniors, but I didn't really buy a lot of clothes. And I could still fit into some size 8 things I owned (whether it was a flattering fit is a different story...) Now I'm mostly a 4/6 in…
  • You can eat bread, cheese, and whatever else you want. Weighing these items will help you track your calories accurately. I would say it's better to weigh out, log, and eat 20 g of whatever cheese you like, than buy a "healthy" cheese (whatever that may be...) and just eat a hunk of it without knowing how much you are…

  • I like to make sandwiches out of Arnold's or Natures Own sandwich thins/rounds, lunch meat, mustard, and a Laughing Cow cheese wedge. (If you've never had this, it's a very soft cheese that can be spread. For me, it replicates the mayo portion of the sandwich satisfactorily. If you're a die-hard mayo lover, you may hate…
