Why did you even think it necessary to offer up your pearls of wisdom? That's the point. Not yours or anyone elses personal preferences, just your need to vocalise them unsolicited.

I don't know, when I started losing weight at the forefront of my mind 100% was whether I could get my cup size to the "ideal" being presented here of a B/C cup because it's all about the menz. Edit though: For reals did a man just come in here to tell us how attractive or not our boobs are to men and what we should want…

I do myself a full roast with all the trimmings. Because roast dinners are my absolute favourite thing in the whole world. I usually do the nibbly bits for NYE which I also do not partake of.

And Florida, though they are about to have a chilly snap. I could do with a beach right now.

I mostly do the loner thing at Christmas now (estranged from family) and I've come to quite enjoy it. I'll have the odd one with my closest friend and usually some of her OH's family (she's Canadian so no family here) when it's being hosted in London as it were. They sometimes go to someone out of London and me tagging…

Yeah just water retention. I think ibuprofen is one that in and of itself can cause some retention aside from the what you may be retaining for repair and healing.

I will take it. Actually, I should caveat it with if I also get air con. I love the heat but prefer it a bit cooler in reality because of how hot it gets in my flat. And my flat is also my home gym so things get VERY sweaty.

I'm about to start killing many birds with one extra delicious stone by ordering a box of Snickers PROTEIN ADDED. This is one victim of the protein push I am 100% on board with. There are several other bars too but if I don't want to pay a small fortune it's cheaper to buy a box than find somewhere that sells singles. I'm…

It doesn't feel as long as two months! How time flies. Still, new year means I can start looking forward to spring again.

Ha, I did most of my dance training in Auckland. In a studio with no air con just a few fans circulating warm air. Ever done what we called body conditioning (super intense cardio) in 30+ degree heat? It's a good time.

Regardless of his beliefs not being the same as facts he's not the one paying for the food then he can ask but it's not a given he gets to decide what happens. Just awful. Definition of entitled and selfish.

I wish stern talks worked on my body. It didn’t get the memo it doesn’t have to be aa contrary as my brain.
-
Curious, what has your fat intake done with the increase of calories going to protein?

12'000 steps is highly active on MFP, in fact it's lower than that for the most active setting. So perhaps set it to active for now, weigh solids and semi-solids and measure liquids. Give it 6-8 weeks to see where you are (with the caveat that if you are losing too quickly after 3-4 weeks you bump up the calories then).
-
Why, if you know it's a fad that doesn't work, are you going to try it? Isn't that just a waste of your own time and money? I think this trumps the threads where OP thinks it does something.

Even if we do know someone and they are, on the face of it, having issues losing weight how do we have any way of knowing exactly what they are doing in order to lose weight. Accurately tracking/successfully creating a known deficit and compliance. I'm sure all of us have talked a good talk or have genuinely believed we…

How many of that 25% fall into the other filters you yourself specified is my point. I have been using these forums for nearly 3 years now and have read a lot of research and done a lot of learning. Plus just general observation of dieters generally. The number of people who have had their calorie needs significantly…

Because I'm lazy and it's nearly bedtime in the UK. What percentage of the population is 1. obese 2. male 3. over 45 4. experiencing hormonal issues 5. is that statistically significant and 6. does it severely impact ability to lose weight physiologically. Edit to add: You can use the US population, I know us Brits aren't…
-
And a good part of that small population would have those issues resolved by, wait for it, weight loss.
-
Oh yeah, birthday mid-January. I'll have it then too but not too much of an issue because people suddenly disappear around my birthday. Partied and monied out by the time 19th January hits!
-
So that would be an untreated medical condition. Decreased energy will have significantly reduced your NEAT which will of course impact your caloric needs and slow or stop losses depending on what deficit you were aiming for. But I am pleased you're sorted out again now. I am not saying some people don't have hormonal…

I give myself Christmas day, usually one other day and maybe new year's of no logging. Over the rest of Christmas week, maybe a bit more, I eat at maintenance and use it as a planned diet break. January 1st back to deficit. Though I'm hoping this is the last year I have to think about deficits!
-
You don't gain 2.4lbs of fat overnight and your body will naturally fluctuate within a range too. Chill.
-
Treated vs untreated? And it makes something like 5% difference to caloric needs when untreated. If levels are regulated then it makes no difference.
-
Is there a statistically significant percentage of the population with hormonal issues so pronounced that it is significantly impacting weight loss? I see it come up a lot in the forums when people want to push back about the simplicity of CICO (whether you agree with it or not) from some quarters but never see this…

Literally no-one said that. It was said there are a few people that will do that but that is not what is advocated here on MFP by so called veteran posters when the question comes up. Edit to add: even for those who really do only pay attention to calories, they're not devoid of any nutritional value in their food. Not…

If it weren't for the fact doctors are really really reluctant to whip out child bearing age women's baby making bits if there's no medical need I'd do it. Then my mental meds could stop interfering with cycle and the pill. And I could stop buying sanitary products. I'm too old to donate eggs as well now so literally no…

I'm actually a discerning vintager aka era snob. Pre-60s for the most part for me. Though that's me making an assumption we're talking post 60s!
-
I never used them, I remember being shown them for some reason though. I have also had (brand new) vintage ones in my possession before too.

Ah belts, the good old days. When I used to get horrible periods no painkiller helped. Was just dreadful. I am very grateful to live somewhere that the pill is free!
