Well done on your loss, I can empathise with a lot of your points. I'm acutely aware of impinging on others space (btw London theatres are tiny). I have had some moments of imposter syndrome which is only exacerbated by my issues with my weight being obvious for the world to see. So far my tests have all been fine but I…

Thanks for all the input. Honestly I had to look up at HAES, as I'd not come across it before (I'm in the UK). I was mortified for my friend obviously and just thought that person was awful. Frankly I'd never comment on someones weight, just like I wouldn't comment on their dress sense, wrinkles or acne. But as I've seen…

Yep it was a woman who make those coments to her :astonished: . Honestly for her, it made her cry then she ate some cake. Not getting into feminist issues as that's another topic, but I've been torn-down ten times by a woman for every time by a man.

I’ve tried to do that, I’ve got a few people who are in similar boats on different parts of their journey (how far can I stretch this analogy). My Husband without counting has just joined me (and lost 25lb the git, joking). I’ve not talked about it really, apart from on here, The only people who I’ve told are my mum, my…

@HippySkoppy Thanks, I suppose I am conflicted. I have always been overweight so it's not like 'I wish I had my 18 year old body back' I do get a bit uncomfortable, but I'm realtively fit (for my weight) and I'm not unhappy. I've always been comfortable with men and always had friends I liked and a close family, (which I…

I bought the fitbit Blaze with a (tan) leather strap, I sent it back for a refund after less than a month. It ended up looking very shabby very quickly and got a steel strap which is much better. I have a photo somewhere of the wear. Someone will have to let you know if the alta strap is very different

@StaciMarie1974 Certainly in the UK a dietician is a 'protetcted' occupation. If you call yourself a dietician you have to be one. it's degree-level education. https://www.bda.uk.com/foodfacts/WhatIsDietitian.pdf A nutritionist doesn't really MEAN anything. While there are good well educated people there is no body or…

Coming late to this one... But Clue is so good I tried a few others but Clue beat them out of the water. It's useful to track a whole bunch of 'womens issues'. I started tracking after I had my Implant removed even though my cycle is 25-32 days Clue is fairly accurate at predicting and has made my stalls and weight gain…

I'm about to hit my 30's next March, realised I'd spent a whole decade obese :scream: I've got approx 103 to go having started this last April (as I had to wait till I'd eaten all my birthday cake and chocolate!)

I do drink sugar, but frankly a proper G&T shouldn't have more than about 100ml tonic. I tend to avoid sweeteners and lots of them give me a headache (not saying they're evil just makes me feel grotty). Fever Tree do amazing tonic waters which are totally worth it!

This is very similar to me I had 121lb to lose and now down to 104.3 to go. I'd not really class myself as a yo-yo dieter as I'd never invested in it for long enough to make a change. My OH is on board (and is doing brilliantly) but other people in the same position would be great, and sorry to hear about your grandma.

I've been more or less the same for about 9 days now, it's discouraging but I know I'm still doing everything right so just have to wait for the scale to catch up! :anguished:
-
@jennybaby89 it was the big 3-0 that made me focus too, alas it was like a week after my 29th birthday! But I figure the women in my family live to their 90's so I can be in a sensible weight range for a long time to come. I've got 104lb to go, after the total 121lb

I have never managed the splits, despite years of ballet and gymnastics! Used to be able to do a backflip and can still do a cartwheel so not a total loss! SW:271 CW:253 GW:150 maybe?

I saw this, Having being fairly unaware of Herbalife until I saw it on MFP. There are similar schemes which are all corrupt, including claims that it will 'fix' a wide range of issues. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/jul/15/herbalife-ftc-fine-200-million-pyramid-scheme-label This one isn't behind a paywall. "A…

As someone who started and stopped a lot I've finally been tracking consistenly. (106 days) This I did looking at reasons why I stopped, until you look at why you stop you won't be able to get around it. My main reason was tracking a 3000+ kcal day, I was like 'screw it' start again tomorrow, except I was eating similar…

@Louise1491 You can get it in England, I've got it on apple and my OH does on android, just need to mess about with the settings a little. You can look online how to do it.

So during a particularly bad insomnia attack I downloaded this, (having to get a US account, as I'm in the UK). And had lunch in the park, several people from work hanging round the pokestops in the corners, successfully adulting!

I don't like really sweet drinks, so Gin and tonic with a dash of bitters is good, or a well made martini (higher in kcal but hard to drink quickly). If I'm on a night out I'll often have a G&T followed by a tonic and bitters, then another G&T.

Every journey starts with a step, or whatever quote you like. As like me you have the joy of the NHS, go back to your GP. There are plenty of schemes available that promote a healthy lifestyle. Including (but not limited to) free help/weigh-in groups, referrals to dieticians, (in the UK dieticians are the only ones with…

Yes and No, I've only ever added three people on facebook, everyone else added me. Partially because I'm generally quite reserved. I'm also politically aware and liberal. I'm British and we've just had our EU referendum, that changed my views of people entirely, so my friends list is now a bit slimmed down. But there are…

It depends what you want it to do, Fitbit have a huge range now for a range of prices, and from experience their returns / customer service is excellent so if it doesn't work for you they're normally good with refunds. I have a fitbit blaze, I used to have a clip-on 'one', but it did my head in as I always forgot to attach…

The only think I was going to say has pretty much been said, I have a fitbit scale, (expensive but I'd been given vouchers) I jump on every day don't pay attention to the number just log it with Happy Scale and trendweight.com logs it. the trend is more encouraging and I've not given up yet. Also it has allowed me to spot…

'Traditionally' is such a loaded word but I have never eaten as much sugar in my life as the fortnight I spent in Japan. Yes I ate local, Yes I travelled with a resident, but by god they don't have any sort of unsweetened drink. Their 'bitter' coffee has a 2/5 sugar scale, and just everything is so much sweeter than in the…

Thanks, it certainly brought it into perspective, as I've just returned from a mini-break with friends. There was some of us sitting around a campfire eating (for me, a specified number) of toasted marshmallows and the friend on slimming world saying 'I can't eat that, I need to lose x pounds by x date'. I just had a…

I love this, I'm the same weight, the same height just 12 months behind. I've tried several times, and quickly was, 'ah cr*p, I accidentally ate my own bodyweight in mars bars, won't log that, start again tomorrow. Actually tomorrow there's cake at work, I'll start again on Monday'. I've got over the 'when I'm x weight…

Do you have a fitbit with a HRM? Mine does, I walk the same way to work every day, and days when I'm stressed/distressed my KCal burn is MUCH higher for exactly the same distance/time. It's because it 'thinks' I'm working harder so will burn more calories.
-
Although saying that.... supermarkets will give you all the information, but Pret quite often quotes their undressed salad calories, but their website is quite good with nutritional details.
