  • That is why one of my questions was "anything in the ocean fair game". I would not think they would eat whales or dauphins (as they are mammals), but then they might. For instance I eat beef, but I don't eat veal. I don't truck with the whole idea behind caging a baby in a confined space, force feeding them milk and then…
  • Very true. It may not be to that particular person's tastes. BUT Beetroot is still on the menu, even if they choose not to partake.
  • So do they eat dauphins and whales?
  • I learned something new today. So basically anything from the ocean is fair game? What about freshwater fish, clams, etc? I am not writing this to be snarky... I really want to know :)
  • I don't know your weight loss strategy and it my just be Calories In, Calories Out (CICO). I lean more towards a paleo offshoot, but then last night I had pizza :) I am about half way to my goal, only another 35 lbs or so to loose. Feel free to add me.
  • Probably tamales and eggs tonight w/ chili verde, crema and some peppers for heat.
  • You vote for change with your money every time you buy a product. Enough people buy a certain way and the industry will change. Prime example, the "organic food" movement. I personally vote for ethical animal husbandry and the ethical treatment of the land. Neither need to be raped to yield a good product.
  • I am fine with it. One of my close friends in college became a vegan for spiritual reasons. If it involved the death or confinement of an animal she would have no part of it. Watched the whole change unfold. She is a now a social worker and a very, very giving person. All that said, she did not execute the dietary change…
  • I try not to eat back more than 50% of my exercise calories. Part of only eating back a portion is because getting an accurate reading for actual calories burned is not exact. Also, I am out to lose weight. The few hundred extra CICO for the day is a boon. Also, I try to "eat back" my calories immediately after my workout…
  • I have not looked at your diary, so I am just throwing this out there. If it does not apply, ignore it. This could be the difference between feeling empty and bring hungry. Seriously, we have come to eat just about anytime we feel the slightest discomfort. You cut back on quantity and times per day, your body is not use to…
  • Body weight training has zero cost to the consumer. Push ups, sit ups, crunches, burpees, squats, lunges... the list goes on an on. Add in chair for incline push ups and dips. If you get desperate for some weights, resistance bands are fantastic or buy a few light weights (less than 5 lbs) and use them when you…
  • While 1200 cal of crap = 1200 cal of nutrient dense food, the macros tell the the rest of the story. I don't think anyone would recommend a child eat any 1200 cal or a sick person could eat 1200 cal of whatever. But somehow that does not apply to everyone else?! 1200 cal in a balanced diet is key. Try to rebuild muscle…
  • I take the measurements and weight to calculate my body fat percentage. I then use an electronic device once every few months and compare the two results.
  • Started at 240ish. Dropped 10 lbs and people at work started commenting a bit. The whole "you did something different" question. Dropped another 10 lbs and people starting saying they could tell. Dropped another 20 lbs (down 40) and people said I did not need to lose any more. I would not be "me" anymore. Great (sigh)…
  • The other issue is you can always add a 100 cal "Cup of Nothing", with a neutral macro. Skates past the problem entirely. This is what I use on my 24 hour fast days.
  • Concur 100%. It is funny, being "food drunk" is not something I crave anymore.
  • I think it has everything to do with the intensity of the training and the drive of the person to prevail. About 50% of the people washed out of the FIT program. I think the attrition in Basic was 15%, AIT was about 10%. Every case I saw that failed simply gave up. Under the pressure of it being to hard, not enough food,…
  • I would check that. They take people into fitness training platoons in the Army, reduce their caloric load and work their butts off three times a day. Downtime is being active (lots of barracks and yard cleaning) I should know, I was one of them. I went in being able to do 5 push ups and left 30 days later being able to do…
  • My recommendation would be to check out bodybuilding.com and check out some of there online programs. There are some great ones out there that have a slew of peeps praising the results.
  • Have you thought about throwing some confusion into your diet? Our bodies are creatures of habit too. They get into rhythms. Break the standard cycle and see what happens. For the next two weeks intermittent fast. Also include three 24 hour fasts over those same two weeks (so you eat supper and then don't eat again until…
  • You can also go in and delete all of your weigh in history. But you have to keep one day. Alter that day to whatever day suits your fancy and plug in the weight. Done.
  • Words have power. Instead of having a cheat day, have a treat day. Negative connotation... gone. Second, cravings is your body asking for something but it might not be a good thing. When cut I wheat and processed foods from my diet, I was craving baked goods. Mad, crazy for baked goods. Then I got paleo flu. Then I got…
  • A clean shaker bottle, liquid coconut oil and a slow release protein powder. I also have stashed away some nuts BUT the packaged is still sealed. I know if I break into it, I will eat it in short order (my willpower is not having it available).
  • "Weight is an illusion". I say it way to often. People get hung up on the scale. This life should not be about hitting some number. Being fit should be the real goal. All that said, the scale is a tool used to help determine your fitness BUT it should not be THE tool. Body measurements + weight can help give you your body…
  • I use IF and it work well for me. I also incorporate a 24 hour fast about three days every two weeks.
  • Did not even think about warming up/stretching. Good advise!
  • First, I am going to echo what others are saying about fiber. Everyone is different and it takes your body some time to adjust. What do I mean by adjust? Most overweight people are going from a diet where the food is pushed through you by piling on more food. When you switch over to a healthy diet the system actually pulls…
  • If I am intermittent fasting I drink a cup of fatty coffee. If I am not fasting, then it is either a green smoothie or 2 slices bacon and then two eggs fried in some of the bacon fat.
  • Are you taking any joint supplements? Anti-infamatories? I am not out to make anyone a pill farmer, but there are a lot of good, natural supplements that can be very beneficial. Another option would be to include bone broth in your diet. I try to drink a cup three to four days a week. Wonderful stuff.
  • I don't know if it in an art. Just a bit of gastronomy. I can't make that little heart out of foam on the top :) Come over any time. Kitchen is open from 5:00 am to 6:30 am, while I am making breakfast and lunches for the family. Just don't mind me doing dishes, laundry, etc while running around getting the kids ready for…
